It was just last July when Bethenny Frankel was admonished by the judge in her custody case with Jason Hoppy for posting a picture of herself wearing her four-year-old daughter, Brynn’s Hello Kitty pajamas on twitter. The judge called the decision ridiculous. When her lawyer said that it was just a joke, the judge replied by saying, “It’s not a joke. Her child is not a joke.”
Yesterday, Bethenny’s fans were appalled after she posted the above picture on Twitter pimping her new book of cocktail recipes. Several comments were left on Twitter and Instagram by fans who were deeply concerned about her health.
Today, many of those comments have been removed and new ones take their place. Interestingly on Twitter, there are now suggested links under her post linking to sites about “Thin Shaming.” The articles seem to miss the point that these are her fans who are worried that a grown woman is wearing clothes that are literally made for four-year olds. There is no shaming, or shade for that matter. The public is simply pointing out they are worried about her health. Bethenny appears to be starving herself to death!
Another disturbing thing I have noticed about Bethenny is her constant reference to “skinnygirl mommy juice” in the morning. She drinks on every morning show she is on. Now I love my Merlot, perhaps a bit too much and too often, but I’m not partaking in mornings. Even when joking “It’s five o’clock somewhere!” I usually not really drinking. I had assumed the same was true for Bethenny until I read through her timeline today. It’s kind of disturbing. Perhaps waking up depressed every day in a house that is fully stocked with all of her favorite cocktails is too much temptation?
I’m neither fan nor foe of Bethenny. I do think she has some major mental health issues and is broken in a lot of places. I assume she is working through that with someone. But I am becoming concerned that instead of spunky season one Bethenny, we are going to be watching something more akin to pre-rehab Kim Richards Bethenny. I don’t want to see Bethenny praying to trashcans or slurring around the other women. I was sort of excited to see Bethenny on RHONY, but now I am worried that she is not emotionally healthy enough for the rigors of the show. None of the Real Housewives franchises have been beneficial to the women who came on with emotional issues. It’s just not a place to deal with divorce or child custody or eating disorders or self-medicating behaviors or making to difficult move into being a single parent.
I am starting to have a sick feeling this will not go well. Andy should know better. What kind of “friend” would encourage her to return in her current situation.
