It’s time for part two of Andy’s interview with Teresa and Joe!
Andy starts right off by asking about their claims that RHONJ is little more than carefully crafted fiction. Teresa says there are editors and producers on the show. Andy asks if the table flip was scripted she says no. What about fighting with Joe and Melissa. She says she didn’t know they were even coming on the show. Andy points out she did not want them on the show. She manages to even deny that! What is it that chick on Below Deck says? “Deny, deny, deny. Lie until you die?” I think that must be on the Giudice family crest. Tre says she didn’t like being portrayed as the villain on the show. Andy says that a lot of people think Tre was putting on a show this season to impress the judge. Tre says that is who she really is. She has grown. She is trying to be a better person. She’s learned from her mistakes.
Andy says some people think she should not be on the show do to her charges. She says she is a working mom. Everything she does she does for her daughters. Like bank fraud and lying, I suppose. Joe says, “At this point, why get off?”
Andy asks about them blaming the show for their arrest. They say they take full responsibility. Andy says do you think you would have been arrested if you were not on the show? Tre refuses to answer the question.
Andy talks about them lying on their presentencing forms which was a large part of the reason Tre is going to do actual time. Andy says isn’t this exactly what got you into trouble in the first place? Tre says no. REALLY? Tre says she didn’t know she had to put all of that information down. So when she made the big zero next to the box asking about jewelry she didn’t know they wanted to know how much her jewelry was worth? Tre says the accountant should have made a housecall and walked through the house. She says the words “believe me!” several times. Lies. The accountant didn’t just assume she had not jewelry. She had to give him the amounts or he would have no idea what to put on the forms. Joe says he hand walked the probation guy through the house. He was not hiding anything. Tre explains that the way Joe came up with the $25K valuation on all the furniture in the entire house, was that it was based on the bankruptcy filings … Joe tries to explain it. Tre tells him several times to let her do the talking. But Joe goes on. Joe says the bankruptcy appraised set the value at $50K so they halved it for appreciation.
As for the jewelry, Tre told the accountant to list her wedding band and her engagement ring, and Joe’s Rolex and his wedding ring and he just didn’t do it. Andy points out she has diamond studs in her ears. She claims they are fake. Andy says they look good, and appears to feel like she is lying. Teresa, lying? Teresa says the attorney said she did tell him about the jewelry. She is trying to make it seem like it is the lawyer’s omission. Surely, the lawyer should have questioned the jewelry estimate after sitting with Teresa on numerous occasions and seeing her jewelry.
Andy brings up the $200K she was supposed to pay before the sentencing hearing. Wow. I had no idea she didn’t pony up the $200K. Tre says she didn’t have it to pay. That should have nullified her plea deal right there. Why didn’t the judge just toss the plea deal then? Joe says he “had it arraigned” but it just didn’t go. He has no idea why. Teresa AGAIN interrupts Joe and says, “Can I speak?” She is a lot snippier with Joe on this part of the interview. Her meds seem to be wearing off. Did I mention her legs are four shades darker than Nene Leakes’ legs and way more orange?
Andy asks why they didn’t sell their stuff to make the payment. Tre says they put the Corvette on eBay.
Joe says he will worry about being deported when and if it happens. Andy asks if anywhere in the back of their minds they think in five years we are all going to be living in Italy. Joe says, “That’s not such a bad thing.” I agree. Tre is hesitant. Andy asks if Joe is deported will the whole family move to Italy?
Joe is very emotional over his dad passing. It was a shock. They saw each other everyday. Joe says his dad was a strong guy. He says his dad was eaten up by the charges Joe was facing. Joe says he would do ten years just to see his father again. He’s tearing up. Tre holds Joe’s hand and says everything happens for a reason. Teresa doesn’t think Joe’s father could have handled seeing him go to prison.
Joe’s wedding band is HUGE. Is that new? Please tell me they didn’t buy Joe a new wedding ring. The one thing you can keep in prison and bankruptcy is a wedding band.
Andy asks about the rehab thing. His attorney is trying to get him in a program for alcohol rehab which will drastically lessen his sentence. So Joe is obviously going to cop to it. Joe says before RHONJ he would drink only on the weekends but now he drinks every day. He only drinks wine and can drink 3 or 4 bottles a night with another person (Tre?) who is he drinking with every night? He says one bottle does nothing, it’s like drinking a bottle of milk. He drinks two bottles a night by himself. Tre says it has gotten worse with his father passing and that Joe says it helps him sleep.
Andy asks how he will take care of himself and the kids when Tre does time if he has a drinking problem. He says he doesn’t have a problem where all he thinks about is drinking. Tre says she thought he was going to see someone. Tre will not even let Joe answer his own questions. Joe says he drinks after the kids go to bed. He says he doesn’t drink and drive.
Andy asks about the DMV charges. Tre tells Joe not to answer that. Andy asks if he is worried about more jail time. Tre says they can’t talk about that. The answer is no he is not worried, Andy because he already has a plea deal in place where his state sentence will run concurrently with his federal case so he will essentially serve no time for those charges. The state of New Jersey is thrilled not to have to pay his room and board for those charges and it still goes on his record.
Things are good with Joe and Melissa. Joe called last night and he was hysterical. He wanted to come to court and she told him not to. She didn’t want any of her family there. Andy asks if they will rely on Joe and Melissa to help with the kids. Tre says no. That’s interesting. Tre says she wants Joe to take care of the girls. Joe’s mother will help. She has a mother. They have enough family. Teresa says it breaks her heart that her Dad is very ill and she is terrified she will lose him while she is in prison. She said that what Joe can do for her is to take care of her parents. It actually is a possibility that Tre’s dad will die in prison I was reading some Piper Kergen (author of Orange is the New Black) interviews this week and there was a story about someone who was two weeks away from being released and she had a brother die. They approved her to go to the funeral but when the family member came to pick her up, they came in a different car from the one on the paperwork and she was not allowed to go. We all know how good Tre is with paperwork… It might be the easiest prison sentence you can hope for but those warden’s still don’t play.
Andy asked if she has heard from the cast mates. Dina did. Jacqueline did but Tre didn’t read it. Kathy did not.
Are the businesses affected. Joe says yes they are all down the tubes. Andy says you have still been doing appearances. She says only Fabellini. Because they are the investors for that. They bought a tank of Fabellini from Italy and had it shipped over. It’s almost gone. Collector’s item alert! It sounds like the other investors on all other businesses have pulled out.
Andy asks what Joe’s job is now. Joe says he has rentals and is trying to get back into building. Andy asks if Joe is worried about people not doing business with him he says no.
Teresa says she did her own hair and makeup for the sentencing. My DVR is acting up and not letting me pause anymore and the recording is not showing in my folder so I am missing stuff now.
Tre is claiming she is not angry or resentful toward Joe. Joe says he feels guilty. He did everything to get her out of it but it did not work. Andy asks Joe if there is anything he wants to say to Tre in front of everyone. He apologizes for getting her into this mess. Tre and Joe profess love for each other and kiss.
Tre apologizes to the people out there that she let down and says she is deeply sorry for what she has done.
