We start this week with a flashback to the murder scene. Michaela screams the line that becomes the title for the episode, “It’s all her fault!” Previously, I think most of us supposed that she was referring to Annalise, but now, after watching the episode once, it’s most likely she is talking about Rebecca. How the hell did Rebecca get four (maybe five, we still have no idea what Asher was doing on the night of the murder) law students to hide the dead body of their law professors husband? What the hell goes on between September and December. I am dying to know.
Flashback to two and a half months earlier. Annalise is very suspicious of Sam. She knows Sam is lying to her about something to do with the dead chick in the water tank.
In the classroom, Anna talks about how to know if someone is lying. She uses Asher as an example of someone who might have a skeleton in his closet. Interesting, no? She says to the class, “Ask yourselves, do you know who anyone really is? Your instincts better be good, or you’ll find yourself choosing the wrong people to make a study group with, to sleep with, or even marry.” Dun da dun dun…
The procedural case is a man named Max who is accused of killing his wife. He sure looks guilty. It is a brutal stabbing death. All the kids go to the crime scene covered in blood, because that is perfectly normal. So is the guy laying in the bloody bed and reenacting the scene with Connor as the stand in for the wife. Just a normal Tuesday.
The other kids are suspicious of Wes. They don’t view him as a peer and are curious how he was picked to be an intern. Wes is sent to get a police report and the clerk assumes he is interning for the DA and just hands it over no questions asked. Later at his apartment Rebecca shows up to take a shower because she has a plumbing issue. We are reminded again about a law student named Rudy who had Wes’s apartment previous. Why keep bringing up Rudy? Did Rebecca kill him too?
In a flashback we are shown that Wes lied about the coin toss. It was tails which means they should have left the body behind. He wanted to get the body without everyone knowing it was his idea. Interesting. Wes gets ten years smarter and more confident from September to December. He’s kinda screamy.
Wes realizes that they guy he saw arguing with Rebecca was Lila’s boyfriend. Rebecca seems to be tied to both murders. Wes tells Annalise that the supplemental report lists a different officer finding the murder weapon. Connor sleeps with his hacker friend and gets files to discredit a witness. The blackmail a neighbor into corroborating Max’s alibi.
Annalise and her cop boyfriend are over. I guess blackmailing him on the stand was his tipping point. He tells Annalise if he contacts her again he will tell her husband about them.
In a flashback Wes is seen calling Rebecca on a burner phone telling her they are going to protect her.
Annalise goes through Sams’s phone and finds a lot of texts from Lila the dead girl. The seem very student teacher like.
Bonnie is sort of a cuntsicle to everyone except Annalise and Sam. What’s her deal?
I’m not going to recap the whole procedural case this week. The main take away is that Max got away with murdering his wife years ago in Switzerland. Max is also living under a false identity. Max is not the man they thought he was. That’s the importance of this procedural in my opinion.
Max drops by Annalise’s office and asks how her day went. She spits out the words “my client is a liar” while looking like she is really saying it about Sam. Sam asks if she has something to say to him. Annalise asks Sam if he slept with Lila the dead girl. He denies it they argue loudly in her office and everyone hears them. It’s revealed that Sam has had an affair before. Sam swears that nothing was going on between him and Lila. Annalise says she is just worried she is going to lose her case. They kiss and make up.
But Annalise does win the case. And there is outrage in the streets directed toward the interns and Annalise. Michaela doesn’t take it well.
Connor’s IT boyfriend is pissed because Connor cancelled a date but they make up. With Sex.
Annalise arrives home to a surprise dinner from Sam. While he goes to the wine cellar, she checks his phone again. He has deleted all the messages from Lila This makes Annalise freak out. She tells Sam that a client called from jail and she has to go out. In reality she goes to Nate and tells him she thinks Sam killed Lila the dead girl. She needs him to check into it. Nate thinks that she is seeing signs that are not there. Eventually, he reluctantly agrees to check out Sam’s alibi at the time of the murder. Alibi? Murder? Do they even know a time of death.
When she gets back home, Sam again asks Annalise if they are okay. She says they are. They have makeup sex. There is a lot of makeup sex in this episode. Afterward, Annalise turns on her side and cries.
Wes arrives home to Rebecca who is resisting arrest on murder charges. Wes watches the news and finds out that Rebecca is a drug dealer with at the bar where she works. She has previous convictions.
We flash forward again to find Wes riding his bike to a hotel room where Rebecca is hiding out. Hiding out from who? The police? Her drug dealing bosses? They make out. I have no idea how they get from Rebecca pretty much hating him to star-crossed lovers on the lam in three months.
Next week: The university wants her to represent the dead chicks rugby(?) playing boyfriend. She calls Nate and says she can’t do that until she knows about Sam. It looks like Sam is not sure she should take the case…I can’t wait.
