Dance Moms: Chloe Gets Revenge

Dance Moms Ava Cota

I already love the title of this episode, Chloe Gets Revenge.  It’s about freakin’ time. We start with the Elite Team and the Select Team both in studio. The Select Team is pissed that Jade and her mother are standing with the Elite Team. Or jealousy may be a better term.

Pyramid time. Mackenzie is on the bottom because she was not in the number. That caused the group’s age group to put them in a tougher bracket. Next is Chloe. She placed 6th in her solo.  Nia is next Abby didn’t like her feet. Next is Jade, she came in 3rd at the last competition, she can be third on the pyramid. Next is Kendall she did well. Maddie is on the top because, she always is on top of the pyramid.

Ava from the Select team has a solo against Maddie. Ava’s solo is called “Drizzle.” Maddie’s solo has a song written especially for her by someone called “Happiness.”  Chloe gets kicked down to the Select Team. Chloe WINS!

The mothers act like two high school rival gangs in the parking lot. They literally argued about who would stand next to whom.  Then the whackadoodle songwriter comes in and does an ode to Maddie that was more than a little creepy.

First up is Maddie’s solo. She was great.

Ava’s solo has an umbrella for a prop and she has been struggling with it. The dance goes beautifully but at some point midway through the dance the umbrella turns inside out. Ava handled it like a pro on stage. Backstage, first Abby lets Ava’s mother have it and blame Ava for the umbrella malfunction. Then she goes in on Ava and Ava cries. Ava apologies for disappointing Abby. Abby tells her to get off of her mother’s lap and suck it up. She’s 11 years old.

The Select Team did a great dance. Chloe and Ava look really good together. Chloe may actually fit better with the other group.  The Elite Team’s music was creepy and the choreography reminded me of another routine they did where there was a car wreck or something. I kept thinking that I had already seen the dance. Maddie did not draw the focus onto her. Mackenzie caught my eye the most because she seemed to be a beat behind and slightly out of her spot for most of the routine. Jade may have upstaged them all for her brief solo moment.

This competition is really short on dancers and audience members. I get the feeling the Select Team has been going to staged comps and when they go to real ones they don’t take them.

Ava took third place in solos and Maddie won.

The Elite Team loses to the Select Team by a tenth of a point. I was really hoping for a bit more revenge than that. All the dancers seemed shocked. I don’t know why because this is the Select Team’s third consecutive win over the Elite Team. Maddie doesn’t even want to get up to accept the loser trophy. Abby says she thought the Elite dance was better. Abby berates Ava even though she was in the winning group number, and came in third with her solo and was nothing but gracious. I’m not sure if she threw her off the team or just off of nationals.

Next Week: It looks like Abby gives Chloe’s solo to Maddie minutes before the competition. And Mackenzie and the two littlest Select Team girls fight to the death for a solo at Nationals..

Is it my imagination or are all of the adults worse than ever? It looks like CHRISyi is back next week. She always brings the venom and the crazy.

I’m trying to forget I saw CHRISTy in the previews. I like her kid though.

So disappointed. Chloe didn’t get get any revenge. Especially not if the two groups were close, and Abby disagreed with the outcome. She will most likely chalk it up to incompetent judging. Then again…this is all scripted with fake dance competitions, so I dont know why I get so invested in Chloe’s success. I’m sure by now she has a huge university fund set up and more exposure than dancers just as talented if not more so around America.

Did anyone else notice that Ava’s umbrella at the end of the dance was not the same one she started the dance with?

I know that the umbrella during the rehearsal had broken and a spoke came out and nearly poked her in the eye. I’m not sure about the beginning of the completion dance though. It was said that Ava ‘s mom had purchased a sturdier umbrella and it was a lighter blue. Unfortunately, it turned inside out..
If what you say is true, it’s possible it has something to do with editing. I know they tape the comps and re- tape the team dance for the show. It might hVe gotten switched up in editing?
Just a thought. I don’t pay attention that closely. I could never recap a show. I’d suck at it.

It is DEFINITELY a totally different umbrella….during the first half of the dance she had a blinged-out blue umbrella with lace fringe. Halfway through the dance it turned into a completely plain blue umbrella. Obviously it was staged. I’m sure it didn’t flip inside out during the actual performance (if there is such a thing…), so they decided to re-film with an umbrella that would flip inside out. Very shocking from an editing standpoint that no one noticed the dramatic umbrella difference. This is the 3rd time I’ve noticed something like this on the show…pretty disappointing because it makes me believe the whole show is scripted/staged. Oh well.

I noticed the different umbrellas during Ava’s dance too. I have noticed little things like this before but I could explain them away. This umbrella thing was unexplainable in my opinion. Although I have always have had my doubts about how much “reality” is included in all these reality shows. And if you’re a Dance Moms fan, you for sure have heard rumors that all the competitions are set up, fake, the judges’ scores are changed to suit what Abby or the show in general wants. But this is completely disenfranchising to see something like this happening during the actual competition and to me, it confirms the rumors. I have always wanted to believe that at least the competitions and winners/losers were real. Last week’s show will forever make me doubt every single thing that happens from now on, even things I never would have thought twice about.

I’m glad someone else noticed it. It was quite evident that the umbrella went from sparkly and frilly blue to just plain blue. Horrible editing.

I love the lines that Chloe and Ava present. Abby is a horrible human being for the mental wringer she puts everyone through for her own entertainment. Alas, Chloe has yet to taste sweet revenge.

Couldn’t they have found something better than a kmart umbrella? Something more like frilly or Asian?

Ava… I know I should not speak about kids’ being home…kids’ looks. But she looks like a very old woman. Maybe it’s the makeup or extreme bunning. But…yikes.

Christi is such a complete downer. She is negative about everything. It’s tiring. I think being chosen to lead the other team, like Maddie was one week, and I think onr other girl was, is a GOOD thing. Christi actually said something like “They won’t get good choreography because Chloe never does.” On a group dance? Come on. That’s way out there. And she TOTALLY worked Ava’s mom up twice and got her to do shit she knew was going to get the poor kid in trouble.

I’m usually fine with Abby’s harshness and n bullshit ways. But, giving the girl shit for sitting on her mother’s lap was way over reaching. But..she’s not a mother.

She doesn’t have to be to know better. I sat on my mother’s lap until she died.

Hmmmm maybe I squashed her to death.

I get the feeling that Abby and her mother were not very snugly.

I think Nia is a lovely young lady, but she is holding the group back. She is almost always ahead or behind on steps on the group numbers. Either she does NOT count or she lacks musicality and has a hard time staying with the music. Either way, she lacks the dance and music skills to keep up with the other girls in either group. And she is older, taller and bigger, so it is really visible on stage in the dances.

I do love Nia. Obviously that has zero to do with whether she holds them back or not. I lose her among the other girls ALL time! Plus…who is would Abby use for all her racial and dog theme’s? Bloop!

I still can’t get used to having 2 teams! Sucks! Why is what’s her name and her daughters still on the credits? I noticed it last night. They flew past them…but they’re on there. Weird. Are they still getting paid? Even though the lawsuits are happening? I know, off track. 🙂
