The other Ferguson thread is about to hit 200 posts and with all of the nesting problems we are having lately, I thought it was a good time to start a new one. There is also some new information that has come out. First, I posted a story in comments that you may have missed. Fox News claims a source who has the specific details of the officer stop that resulted in the shooting of Michael Brown. Also, ABC news has information on Dorian Johnson who has previously had charges filed against him in a neighboring city for theft and filing a false police report. Finally, I include a rumor that I cannot substantiate about Johnson admitting to his attorney he lied in his TV interviews about the details of what happened. While it is an unsubstantiated rumor, it is coming from several sources and makes sense considering the details of the autopsy prove he was lying about Brown being shot in the back.
Enjoy the new comments section. A few people have asked me if they are commenting too much. You are not. This is a major news event that changes frequently throughout the day. I know many of us need a safe outlet to express our frustrations. This will inevitably get heated and I’m fine with that. As with any group discussing political situations there will be rabble-rousers in the mix long with the peaceful. It’s just our little microcosm of the greater debate.
Darren Wilson, the Ferguson, Mo., police officer whose fatal shooting of Michael Brown touched off more than a week of demonstrations, suffered severe facial injuries, including an orbital (eye socket) fracture, and was nearly beaten unconscious by Brown moments before firing his gun, a source close to the department’s top brass told FoxNews.com .
“The Assistant (Police) Chief took him to the hospital, his face all swollen on one side,” said the insider. “He was beaten very severely.”
According to the well-placed source, Wilson was coming off another case in the neighborhood on Aug. 9 when he ordered Michael Brown and his friend Dorain Johnson to stop walking in the middle of the road because they were obstructing traffic. However, the confrontation quickly escalated into physical violence, the source said..
“They ignored him and the officer started to get out of the car to tell them to move,” the source said. “They shoved him right back in, that’s when Michael Brown leans in and starts beating Officer Wilson in the head and the face.
The source claims that there is “solid proof” that there was a struggle between Brown and Wilson for the policeman’s firearm, resulting in the gun going off – although it still remains unclear at this stage who pulled the trigger. Brown started to walk away according to the account, prompting Wilson to draw his gun and order him to freeze. Brown, the source said, raised his hands in the air, and turned around saying, “What, you’re going to shoot me?”
At that point, the source told FoxNews.com, the 6 foot, 4 inch, 292-pound Brown charged Wilson, prompting the officer to fire at least six shots at him, including the fatal bullet that penetrated the top of Brown’s skull, according to an independent autopsy conducted at the request of Brown’s family.
Wilson suffered a fractured eye socket in the fracas, and was left dazed by the initial confrontation, the source said. He is now “traumatized, scared for his life and his family, injured and terrified” that a grand jury, which began hearing evidence on Wednesday, will “make some kind of example out of him,” the source said.
22 year-old Dorian Johnson, the man who was walking with Michael Brown when he was shot, has a warrant out for his arrest in Jefferson City. The warrant is for stealing and dates back to June 2011.
ABC 17 News looked into Johnson’s past and found out he has also been charged with filing a false police report in the same year. After cross referencing several records, ABC 17 News found the warrant, which is for Dorian Jordan Johnson, is actually the same person as Dorian Jarvis Johnson.
Johnson has told news organizations Brown was, “shot like and animal…”You might remember, Johnson told reporters Brown was running away with his hands up. A medical examiner’s report was inconsistent with Johnson’s story.
I’m also hearing that Johnson has recanted his story to his attorney and will likely tell the truth at the grand jury examination. I am hearing that Johnson will admit that there was a scuffle between Brown and the officer and that Brown was not running away from the officer when he was shot but had walked off and then abruptly turned around and charged him and then the officer fired. I am also hearing that Johnson will not be charged with anything despite being the cause of all the outrage in exchange for his testimony. For now these are just people with “sources” talking to people who talked to me. But in light of the autopsy findings, it would seem that Johnson’s grand jury testimony would have to change. I attempted to find any support for this and there were a few links on Google news that were related to this from small outlets of questionable reputations. It seems that they have been taken down because when you click the links they are no longer there. There is a tweet from a radio station in the St. Louis area that seems to be the primary source for this rumor, however that tweet has been removed as well.
