Phaedra Parks Comforts The Family of St. Louis Teen Shot By Police

For the past four days, Phaedra Parks has been in St. Louis on a book tour for her ridiculous etiquette book on how to be a southern belle. While that is a ridiculous enough venture for Ms. Parks. It seems her stay in St. Louis has been extended to include a few extra appearances.  During her first signing on Saturday night at 5 p.m. there was officer involved shooting of a teenager in St. Louis.  The teen who was black was said to be approached by police officers around 5:30 p.m. and according to police the teens were uncooperative. However, many eye witnesses said the unarmed teens were compliant and follow all of the officers commands. An unnamed white police officer shot and killed on of the teens on the scene.

Since Saturday, there have been large protests and riots in St. Louis as everyone attempts to come to terms with the tragic death. There is no word on whether Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton have arrived in St. Louis yet. However, St. Louis County NAACP President Esther Haywood said in a statement “We are hurt to hear that yet another teenaged boy has been slaughtered by law enforcement especially in light of the recent death of Eric Garner in New York who was killed for selling cigarettes. We plan to do everything within our power to ensure that the Ferguson Police Department as well as the St. Louis County Police Department releases all details pertinent to the shooting.”

Phaedra Parks took the opportunity to show up at the press conference and sit next to the grandmother to console her in front of all of the television and print media cameras.  On her twitter account she makes mention that despite the tragedy there are some great people in St. Louis and encourages them all to come to her book signings.

So um, thoughts on Phaedra Parks and her um, humanitarian works a the press conference? She appears to have no connection to anyone involved. How die she manage to sidle up to grandma?

The race of the officer involved hasn’t been released, but it assume he’s white or else all this outrage will be wasted. Phaedra being in the camera shot just makes this whole mess perfect.

The family has already ‘hired’ the attorney who represented Trayvon Martin so I expect Jesse and Al any moment.

Police are just completely out of control these days, and I can only pray Mr. Brown’s family sees some justice. But I’m not holding my breath. They won’t even release the officer’s name and I’m sure he’s already been whisked off to protective custody already, seeing that police safety is just oh-so-much more important than those they are sworn to “serve and protect”. (yeah right)

You have no idea what is going on here in St. Louis. Be careful when you only read what the media says. You are not here in St. Louis to see first hand how things are being handled. Ignorance is bliss. This is not a matter of black or white…this is a matter of an unarmed person being gunned down and the family is looking for answers. Don’t be fooled by the ignorance and violence of others who took advantage of this situation and destroyed local business which took the focus off the situation at hand.

Hey now. Instead of telling me what I don’t know, and how the media is portraying it incorrectly, you have a great opportunity to explain first hand what is happening. I’m actually very interested in your perspective. I haven’t followed the news as closely as I usually do because I’ve been super busy. Why not just explain the situation to us.

We are still waiting for you to break it down for us. And, how do you know what the exact story is, just because you live there? A police officer shot a man to death here that had just had a car accident and went looking for help. A man at the home where he knocked on the door called the police, and when the team of police arrived, rather than rendering aid, after making the victim of the accident hold up his pants legs and hold up his shirt, and raise his hands, one of the officers shot him dead. Coincidentally, although you said it doesn’t matter, the officer was white, and the dead victim was a promising young black man. I don’t know that story because I live here, I know it because my uncle is a police officer from that shift, and he told me. And our media told it the same way. If you have inside knowledge of the story and how it really went down, you should call the attorney general and tell him. No one is fooled here. No one is attaching the nonsense that a few caused after the fact, with the death of Michael Brown.

Calm down @Mina…I have a career to get to during the day..so I’m available now. When I said you have no idea I meant that in a way of “you have no idea because it’s worse than what is being put out there on television”…not that you literally had no idea? I was addressing the statement of @tobaccorhoda when she said that the outrage would be wasted if the officer was presumed black. Perhaps I replied in the wrong thread. Furthermore , whats being put out out there in the media is only part of what’s happening. There have been both black, white, young, old protesting all over in a peaceful manner IN ADDITION to others lashing out and taking advantage of this situation through vandalism and theft. It spread to other areas where people are fighting in the mall. Last night, the police used a rubber bullet to shoot someone and it hit him in the face. For the fact that I live in St. Louis I have an idea of the cultural/racial environment here. St. Louis has had a long standing problem with race throughout its history and including segregation within school districts. With that being said, there is a lot of sensitivity when it comes to the police and people of color in St. Louis. While I don’t agree with what’s going on, St. Louis is now starting to face the “white elephant” in the room because we are forced to while the world is watching. I never stated that I had an exact story …was just saying that it’s a deep wound that was re-opened by this tragic situation that only most who live in St. Louis could understand.

What about the White female hostage taken by bank robbers in CA and killed a couple weeks ago? Yesterday it was disclosed that the POLICE were the ones that shot her 10 times (she was being used as a human shield). I haven’t seen much uproar about that. The police should have backed off instead of engaging in a gun battle with the robbers. Two hostages were released so there is a good chance the last hostage would have been released as well. Injustice happens to people of all races.

When is the bastard going to jail by the way? Phaedra is one of the most delusional people ever. I wonder if she will ever apologize to Kenya for getting mad at her and calling her a whore all because her husband had the hots for her?

I am surprised she isn’t consoling the police officer considering her and her husband have preyed on people financially much the same as police officers prey on citizens regarding their civil rights. She is just interested in having a high profile burial to launch her laundromat. It amazes me at how ignorant poor black people are in the face of celebrity…most of the black guys posting here would try to fuck within 10 mins of actually meeting someone like Phaedra and the women would be clamouring to take a picture.

Even though I am a Black woman who is married to a Black man, I still wouldn’t know what “most” Black men’s sexual attractions and actions are. To be fair, I’m sure there are some Black men (and women) who would act in the manner you speak of.

As for her funeral/mortuary business being a “laundromat”, it’s plausible given the legal questions that her finances seem to spark.

And for “poor Black people” aligning themselves with a “celebrity”, I don’t think it has that much to do with being poor, Black or even a celebrity for that matter. History and human nature has shown us that members of a minority or otherwise disenfranchised group will often seek alignment or help from what appears to them to be a non-disenfranchised group to put themselves in a better position. That “better position” would likely include receiving some gain that would move them further away from their current situation, plight or predicament or to at least maintain their current status. Whether this bears itself out in women who “act like men” in the workforce in order to be viewed as competent and capable for leadership positions, people of non-means who marry people of means in order to escape poverty or accumulate resources in order to create more resources, children who participate in “mob mentality” type bullying behaviors for fear that if they stood up for the victim or didn’t participate then they too would be the focus of the maltreatment. Or…whatever. I’m betting that the family is intent on getting the story out about their relative – no matter the means of sharing. So, if that means that Phaedra would say a few words about their situation on social media or her “comfort” of Mike Brown’s grandmother will be captured by RHOA or news and entertainment cameras to be later shown and discussed on tv, blogs and news outlets – then so be it!

I’m definitely not mad at the family for taking advantage of a “celebrity” who is seemingly taking advantage of them too.

I don’t think anyone is mad at the family or thinks the family is taking advantage of anyone.

I think people are appalled that Phaedra would find a press conference and manipulate her way into a seat next to a grieving grandmother who seems to be paying her no mind, while Phaedra ponders her best side for the close up.

At least that is what I think.

@tamaratattles No, Tamara. We’re on the same page here. I addressed concerned_c’s somewhat blanket statement about Black men and women when faced with a celebrity of Phaedra’s caliber. I also expounded on other possible reasons why Mike Brown’s family apparently allowed her access to them during this time. Basically, I offered that oftentimes people of non-means seek people of celebrity status as an avenue to gain access to their means (money, power, connections, influence, resources). I countered that motivation for personal contact is not always celebrity “worship” in the form of sexual attraction, adoration, or praise.

Also, the “not mad at” statement is slang. As in, “I don’t blame them for doing whatever they did.” {Think: TuPac – “I Ain’t Mad At Cha”} ☺ I do agree with you about the grandmother. She definitely is not paying Phaedra ANY attention at all. Surely, she has an ocean’s weight of emotion and thoughts bearing down on her right now about people she actually knows and loves. But like with any sudden grief crisis within a family, there will hopefully be more stable hearts and minds available who will see to it that the business of the day is still attended to. It was probably that/those individual(s) that thought Phaedra’s presence would be helpful for media attention to their issue. Which is why I stated that the family was probably using her just as much as it was obvious to them that she was using them to brighten her public image.

@lucy234 Right! I’m not even gonna touch on what I would like to say to teecee66 right now. Some things are just better left unsaid on the internet – and said face-to-face instead! I don’t do internet bullying or “thugging”. From my experience, a person’s voice, tone, words and whole demeanor changes when they’re confronted face-to-face with the BS they spew. I just had to reconcile myself with the fact that some people, for whatever reason, are just UNHAPPY. And those same unhappy people find the internet a safe place to spew all the bottled up filth that they hold inside from their daily interactions with people they wish they could say in real life. I just take comfort in the fact that they’ll all die soon enough (hate, unhappiness and loneliness ages and deteriorates you) and there’s always a greater hope for the next generation.

On the “cops can be bad people too” notion you spoke of, my husband mentors youth in the child welfare system. One of his mentees had a 15 year old sister who he lived with. The mentee had violent confrontation in the home (screaming, yelling, breaking small objects) and my husband advised the mother to call the M.U.T.T. (mobile urgent treatment team) team and to then call the police until he could get there to calm the boy down and take him out of the home and help him find alternative placement for the night. The mother did as she was asked. My husband and the M.U.T.T team arrived, as did the police. The boy was taken out of the home. The police stayed to talk to the mother and sister and possibly the much younger brother. The mother indicated that she would walk to the corner store for something and that she would be right back since the police had already talked to her and was now talking to the 15 year-old daughter. When the mother left, the police told the girl to go inside for the rest of the interview. Once in the home, THE POLICE OFFICER RAPED HER! The girl, once freed, ran outside of the home and told the other officer who was waiting outside by the squad car that she was raped by his partner. By the way , the girl was nearly naked, looked as if she had been involved in a tussle (messy hair, ripped clothing, no shoes), was screaming and crying. The other officer then TOLD HER SHE WAS LYING and then PROCEEDED TO ARREST HER FOR DISORDERLY CONDUCT! Mind you, the RAPING POLICE OFFICER came out of the house WITH HIS PANTS DOWN BY HIS BUTT! The raping officer PULLED UP HIS PANTS AND BUTTONED THEM UP OUTSIDE. The mother came home and expressed concern for her daughter, and guess what, they threatened to ARREST HER TOO! Oh yeah, when the boy looked at the officers with anger, the police officers BRANDISHED THEIR WEAPON TO HIM! AND TOLD HIM TO MIND HIS BUSINESS! I mean… *sigh*

Anyone can google that story. The girl and her family sued the police department and WON! And the girl and family won despite the POLICE DEPARTMENT doing EVERY SINGLE THING POSSIBLE to discredit the girl, her story and their entire family.

So, yeah…”police officers are capable of heinous acts”.

A lowly attempt at image rehab. Also, a way to get people to come buy her book. You know she’s a humanitarian an all. Its so weird how she thinks the public doesnt know that her family robbed elderly people’s checks and we are supposed to think she had no involvement. Mr. Juvial Physicality aka Apollo couldn’t dream up such a scheme even on his best day. She’s disgusting.

How is Phaedra the bad person here?? She is a mother first and a child’s life was lost! If anyone is wrong, TT, you are for TRYING to creature a bullshit story against Phaedra instead of just informing the public of the tragedy that has taken place. You could have use this as an opportunity to find a solution to stop our children from being killed senselessly, instead of putting down another black woman for no reason!! Shame on you! People like you are part of the problem of why no other race respects us!! May God be with you, you lost soul!

How is TT creating a “bullshit” story about Phaedra? Was she not there to promote her book? Did she not comfort the grieving grandmother? Did she not then tell folk to transcend the tragedy and not to forget to buy her book?

TT is part of the problem but not the cunt trying to profit from human suffering?

I don’t know anyone involved but there has to be quite a bit more to the story than two black kids walking home from the store and a white cop of 6 years just pulling over and pulling one into the car and shooting the boy. I don’t understand why there isn’t video but it makes no sense how the other boy is telling the story. It also amazes me fame hungry people like Phaedra, all sharpton etc are instantly in front of the cameras crying out race and police brutality when the investigation isn’t over. I grow so tired of the race card being thrown from all sides and people like Phaedra running up to any news cast and crying unfair treatment. How is a country supposed to come together when fame whores like them do everything they can to divide??? And if the officer was black or the kid was white, this wouldn’t even be into question. Saddening that so many people sacrificed for everyone to be equal and thousands of people do everything they can everyday for those sacrifices to be in vain.

There is video, the police investigator has a cell phone of a bystander that videotaped the incident on her cell. They have it as part of the investigation. Hopefully it won’t be suppressed. There is also a second autopsy pending, to address the trajectory of the wounds/shots. It will all come out in the investigation.Hopefully we will all know also. I don’t think any of us need to throw our opinions and perspectives into the mix until the whole thing is said and done. We don’t know the people, we weren’t there, and we don’t have access to the reports. Just because the officer had 6 years on the job doesn’t mean he couldnt ever have bad judgement. Everyone in this world makes mistakes. We need to pray for the family, the dead young man, and the police officer also. Clear heads need to prevail.

I live here in St. Louis. I can assure you that the feeling in the air is that a white police officer “executed” an unarmed, African American teenager. Eyewitness accounts are saying that both teens had their hands up and were being compliant. There supposedly is a video and the police officer’s name is going to be released at anytime now.

As far a Phaedra Parks goes, the Brown’s family attorney mentioned her during their press conference and stated that she is a member of the bar association. I’m guessing that maybe she is helping to get justice for the family in some way.

I’m not sure what happened between the police and Michael Brown, I just don’t understand why he was shot in the head. Did the police officer have no other choice? Hopefully, all of the facts will come out soon. My prayers are with the family.

I have to agree with TeeCee on this one. The kids should have gotten out of the street, and onto the sidewalk.

I live in Kansas City. Here, there is a huge problem with idiots walking down the middle of the street, especially at night, when it is hard to see them. And I don’t mean walking ACROSS the street. They walk down the middle of the lane. In traffic. I almost hit a guy one night, because he was dressed all in black and walking in the middle of the lane, with his back to traffic. And yes, he was “shuffling”. I honked my horn at him, and he just didn’t care. People like this create a hazard for those on the road. The speed limit there is 45mph. I could have hit him, hard…or swerved to miss him and hit another car.

The kids should have been on the sidewalk.

TeeCee, I have read and enjoyed your comments for awhile now. The sarcasm and snark is entertaining.
The comment “He was shot in the head because he was being belligerent. Next question?” Is really over the top.
Next time you’re belligerent would you expect to be shot in the head?
I for one will wait to see how belligerent this kid was. Did he threaten the officer. Was he holding what could have been a weapon in his hands?
If someone is being antagonistic or threatening, there are other methods of subduing him. If the only recourse was to shoot, I think he could have shot him elsewhere to disable him, not a kill shot to the head.
I know you don’t give a rat’s ass, but this comment was appalling. Really, who are you? Do you really believe he should have been shot in the head because he was “belligerent”? I choose not to believe you can be so hateful. That you’re simply belligerent. Be careful out there. The world is a fickle and dangerous place.
I’m disappointed in you. You might not give a fuck but I didn’t expect this from you. Shame on me.

They need to be shot and the next thug needs to see his dead body to de-thug him some. @ Ooopsi please tell me in what way Phedra is brilliant or demonstrates sound judgement ..marrying a Felon and then choosing to bring lives into the world with him ? Not thinking or caring how having a shell of a man like Apollo will impact the lives of her children ? Losing every case that she’s been involved with on and off television ? Using her knowledge of the law to avoid prosecution in her crime rings ? Representing strippers and being a Madame while pretending to be a southern belle ? How exactly is she brilliant ? If being well spoken is the definition of brilliant then .. Ok .

Wow. I feel like I should put on riot gear today. As with any news item we discuss here, I think we should rely on the facts and not make any up.

I appreciated JaysMoms post which unfortunately was stuck in moderation until I got up to release it. And the other poster from last night who came in telling us we have the facts wrong (who I hope then provided us with the facts. Both are in St. Louis and dealing with what has now become a very dangerous situation.

Finally, how many times have we watched the same scene, like the first responders party, and all had very different recollections of what happened? The eye witnesses accounts have all been quite different. In fact the friend of the young man who was killed has changed his version several times on TV.

And even more finally, views of commenters here are theirs alone and do not represent the views of Tamaratattles.com

          Carry on.

“The recklessness of youth” is a fact. We all did those things as teenagers, its part of the humam nature of growing up. Yes, the sidewalk was the “proper” place to be, but being on the road is not a valid reason for cold blooded execution. You can tell kids to follow rules, you can tell the police not to shoot teens. Neither side will follow your well meaning advice. Cops will be cops, kids will be kids
Nothing changes. Steve you seem to be blaming the victim. If the officer was Black and the child white, would you still be humming the same tune. Somehow I doubt that. In your way of thinking, Rosa Parks should have followed “your rules” and remained in her “assigned” seat, then there would be no “trouble”. Thank God, she didn’t listen to people like you.

I live in St Louis and things are crazy right now! As far as what exactly happened between the officer and Michael Brown, who knows. Several “eyewitnesses” have come forward and each one tell a very different story. From Michael and his friend were just walking down the street and Michael was brutally murdered, to the officer and Michael engaged in a struggle where Michael reached for his gun. The friend that was walking with him has given different stories, but now that he has an attorney the story has been mostly consistent.

The Brown family has retained Benjamin Crump as their attorney, he also worked the Trayvon Martin case. Al Sharpton showed up yesterday and is paying the funeral costs for Michael Brown.

Personally I’m withholding judgement on what happened until some facts are actually released. I’ve been told that makes me a racist because I don’t automatically believe the police officer is a murdering racist.

I have family members on the police force that have been working with the swat team every night since this started. It’s scary to know people I love are standing in the middle of groups of people screaming they want to kill the police.

Unfortunately, last night a block away from the protesting a woman was shot in the head and a masked man pulled a gun out on the police and was shot. I fear things are going to get worse before they get better.

The video is being withheld by the cops or by the thugs. If the cops have it? It will be released after the funeral. They usually let the mother bury her piece of shit before the condemn him. If the thugs who you KNOW recorded it have video, you may never see it. That’s how I know the dead kid was not an angel. If it happened the way the witnesses say, there would be ample backup.

Michael Brown was 18, 6 feet tall and I’ve heard around 270lbs. He was a big guy.

We buried a close friend 3 years ago who was brutally shot in the face in Atl all because some POS didn’t want to go back to jail even though he had already been arrested 19 times. To be honest, you want the real deal… get on social media and follow a hashtag. It is unreal how regular civilians do a better job at telling the unbiased tales of event than our press. I also have some news about Phaedra’s involvement. If you recall this post, http://s17948.p858.sites.pressdns.com/2014/08/01/something-in-the-buttermilk-aint-clean/ Phaedra was recently at the National Bar Association convention. The new president of NBA is Pamela J. Meanes who is a St. Louis attorney. So that was probably her contact to get involved.

Also, I just heard the friend of Big Mike the guy who was shot, retell the story. They were walking in the street and the cop told them to get the fuck out of the street. They were almost to where they were going, so they said they’d be out eventually. WHAT?

Then the officer backs up and they stand in front of his door so he can’t get out of the car?

What happened to training kids how to interact with police? Before I was ever allowed to drive my car I was instructed that if you get pulled over in a car, keep your hands on the steering wheel until the police officer approaches. Don’t move to get your registration or license, don’t open the window. Just sit tight until the officers asks you to do something. Do parents not teach this anymore?

I have no answers why these horrors happen. When children get killed, no matter how or why, it is a National tragedy. My heart breaks for the family. And yes, I was taught the same as you, and I taught my son the same thing. However all teenagers are brain damaged, do stupid things, think they are invincible, and have no thought of future consequences. I remember working in the ER, a kid was shot while playing with a firearm with friends, and didn’t realize GSWs hurt. Luckily he wasn’t seriously injured, but those teens didn’t think about the consequences. My kid did stupid stuff as a teen. Thank God it never involved police, firearms or cars.

These days, “shuffling” and hair extensions are NOT stereotypical of a certain race. A certain AGE, maybe, but not race. In one of my comments, I used the word “shuffling”, too. But that was the only way to describe the way the man was walking. I also never mentioned his race. Because it doesn’t matter.

“Savages” and/or “animals” are also not limited to one race. They express the type of behavior and amount of violence and destruction created by the angry protesters and looters. In the news reports I saw, there were looters of ALL RACES.

I don’t agree with the notion of turning an argument into some lopsided racial war, and find it incredibly tiring when it happens time and time again, but come on, it’s completely obvious that in this particular situation race was being alluded at by the gross poster.

Shuffling, savages, and animals all have historical connotations to being derogatory towards blacks, and TO THIS DAY, weaves are still a source of cultural reference and/or mockery for black women. Women of other ethnicity’s get hair extensions – black women get weaves (of course this isn’t a law of nature, but it is the de facto for both the industry and culturally).

I live about 20 miles from Ferguson, and I’ve been following this closely. I’ll wait until the investigation conclude to form an opinion on whether that kid tried to go for the cop’s gun.

I do however have an opinion on the agitators flocking to town. Scum. From the Panthers, to Al Sharpton, to the cyber terrorists Anonymous, who have hacked the towns website and are threatening to publish the addresses of police officers. The police chief of St. Louis, whose only involvement is having the investigation dumped on him by Ferguson, is getting death threats to his family.

Looters are not “grieving”. They are opportunistic thugs. Ferguson’s police force, and the town, are well integrated. I used to work close to there, and this whole mess is a shame, but a bigger shame is the race baiting and lynch mob mentality of the very people whose race has been the victims of lynch mobs in the past.

Of all the ‘frivolous’ decisions our country has decided to uphold as human rights, say, oh, like women’s right to vote, the right to own property, or the right to free speech, our right to LIFE — the literal vessel of our beings that are able to experience and interpret the reality around us – is and should be help as the highest priority.

This boy was murdered in cold blood by an officer of the state in a public street during a routine ‘stop’ sans violent outbreak or attempt to flee. Any hopes, dreams, admirations, regrets, feelings of well-being or even feelings of sadness have been PERMANENTLY ROBBED from him. There is NO. MORE. to this boy. He is GONE.

What you’re doing here and in your prior comment is advocating for a police state – the police force, who generally as a whole, are often times uneducated at a higher level, and are everyday people just doing their jobs, now get to decide who/what/when/where and WHY you are living your life.
But this is all okay with you right, because in this situation the VICTIM gets blamed and dragged through the mud as an “asshole” even though you know absolutely nothing about him or what he did or DIDN’T do. One should not have to interact with police any differently than other branches of the government or first responders – they should be met with respect just as any other human being. Advocating that it is the kids fault for not being respectful towards the officer is JUSTIFYING that it’s okay to be KILLED because someone doesn’t like your attitude. I mean, forget the ongoing debate of the death penalty for proven murderers and rapists, and let’s defend the death sentence of someone being murdered for being rude? W T F.

Remember Mr. Average Joe from down the corner, who was never quite right in the head; probably couldn’t hold down a decent paying job, or ended up enlisting in the armed forces because of a lack of other options, mainly including college? Well, with a high demand market and a few years of basic schooling, Mr. Joe now gets to become Mr. Officer!
Mr. Officer is now imbued with the mystical forces of his sacred police badge – he now has the protection of this badge at all times, no longer has to observe basic traffic laws or most other laws for that matter, can now take your freedom at any given time, has the full support of the court system and is upheld by the general uniformed, uneducated sections of the public, and has the solidarity of men, and a handful of women, that are just like him, and will lie in a nanosecond to save/back him up.
In the street at the wrong time and at the wrong place? Better watch out, because Mr. Officer gets to decide if you get to walk away bloody, walk away with an arrest record that sullies your name, or DON’T walk away with a bullet slamming through your skull at 1,700 mph.

What happens when YOU get thrown down on all fours, told to shut the fuck up, and your life threatened just because Mr. Officer Sir is in a bad mood and doesn’t like that miserable look you wear on your face? Will you attempt to invoke your constitution rights, subsequentially causing your death via gunfire to the face, while we will all sit around laughing about how you’re an asshole that deserves it?

You are stupid! I think you have law enforcement mixed up with a McDonalds worker. And wtf are you talking about a police state ? 90% of law enforcement are very pro constitution and strongly disagree with alot of the shit that is passed. But they don’t make the laws, they enforce them hence Law ENFORCEment. And no, as an American citizen you have rights they can’t just whoop your ass cause they are in a bad mood, they can’t even stop you without you violating the law. You don’t want your ass whooped, show some damn respect and act like your momma taught you how to be a decent person. But when you fight them, play tough guy with your Google search of your rights and want to tell them how to do their job and not cooperate , you will be shown that you really aren’t as tough as you think. Police officers take more shit from people like you than a stranger at Walmart would take before they whooped your ass too.

This could all have been avoided if the IDIOT “KIDS” HAD NOT BEEN BREAKING THE LAW BY WALKING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I’m so sick and tired of idiot pedestrians thinking they can walk out in the middle of traffic, ride their skateboards against the light, etc. I saw an idiot woman a couple of days ago run across 3 lanes of traffic, in between cars, to get to a friggin bus stop. It looked like the old “frogger” game. If a driver hits any of these fools, THE DRIVER is held accountable, since supposedly, the pedestrian has the right of way. That’s what these idiots think, anyway. There are, however, laws for pedestrians, too. And one of them is, you stay on the sidewalk if a sidewalk is available. It’s simple.

The answer to all of this is simple. When a police officer instructs you to get out of the middle of the street, do as you are told.
Possibly this death will serve as a lesson to others to listen to authority and if you have a grievance with what you were instructed to do, work through the channels afterward.
For every action there is a reaction.

I would venture to say that when Brown was shot the second young man stopped his clown act real fast. All of this outrage, destruction and sorrow, with massive consequences that are life altering for everyone involved, because two grown men had a lack of respect for an officer of the law when he ordered them out of the street.

How many kids walk on the road? Should we shoot all of them 9 times???

Let’s see how you would feel if a cop killed your kid for walking in the middle of the street. Be careful, next time your kid goes after their ball. That’s being in the middle of the street.

A cop would not kill my kid for walking in the road, because they would have more sense than that. And if for some reason they took leave of their good sense and home training and an officer of the law told them to get out of the traffic, they would comply.

They were not “jaywalking” they were walking down the middle of street causing a danger mostly to themselves, and to a lesser degree others.

They refused to get out of traffic because “they were almost to their destination”

I have friends and family that are cops. In my lifetime I have encountered cops that are good cops and the assholes. Same with doctors, teachers and even bosses. If I am walking down the middle of the road and a police officer instructs me to move my ass to the sidewalk, that’s what I do. Even if i think he is being an asshole. This kid was not an innocent bystander who happened to be walking in the road, he was belligerent and he reached for the officers gun. What do you think he was going to do with that gun? Play candy land?
Those protesters were blocking a road. The police have them warning to disperse and they didn’t. What would have happened if a car rounded the intersection and hit and killed 3 of those protesters? I’m sure the police would be to blame for that too. Besides, I doubt they had a permit to protest.

What would have happened if the cop said nothing, and the “kids” were in the middle of the road, and got hit by a car? Or if the car swerved to miss them, and hit another car, killing the driver and passengers? Who would be to blame? The cop? The driver of the car? Who? And how many lives would have been ruined?

All of this could have been avoided if they had moved to the sidewalk. All of it.

Personally, I am tired of idiots walking out into traffic, and especially walking down the road IN traffic. And running across 3 lanes, dodging oncoming cars, like they are in some type of twisted frogger game. I want to run them down. There are sidewalks for a reason. Just shut the fuck up, and use them.

BionicMe…the young man was not shot for walking in the roadway. He allegedly was shot because he and his friend barricaded the officer’s door and Brown tried to remove the officer’s weapon which discharged inside the vehicle hitting Brown. Then they attempted to run from the scene.
The minute Brown reached into the squad car and went for the officer’s weapon he signed his death certificate. Acting as a brazen thug cost him his life and has destroyed the lives of innocent people caught in the aftermath.

Oh please, you’re such a little cherry flavored pussy-pop, back pedaling your blatant racism instead of just owning up to it.

Instead of just admitting “while yes, I do have reservations regarding African Americans because of their general acceptance of hip hop culture that glamorizes violence and crime” like most (white) people, you instead try to desperately save face while at the same time dropping little bombs like “I thought you weren’t supposed to call THEM boy, make up your mind”

I didn’t even mention race in my post, because honestly I don’t care about his race as it doesn’t pertains to my issues of what was commented here — although I DO believe people would care more and it would be harder to drag him through the mud if you he was white/Asian — I’m most appalled that people are trying to justify KILLING as a solution to a negative attitude/rude behavior and/or walking in the street.

I mean, seriously you really do have to get it at some level, but your envisions of some [email protected] thugz who “probably is a criminal” and “deserves it,” prevents you from feeling any sort of empathy or plight of injustice.

I guarantee you if this happened to a neighbor or family member, after first handedly witnessing his decimated family, you wouldn’t be sitting there thinking “well, if he got out of the street sooner than maybe the officer wouldn’t have HAD to shoot him on the face.”

So really I think the root of the problem is a disassociation – probably from spending most of your adult life on the computer.

And if anyone seriously believes that their “well-mannered” child wouldn’t walk across the street with a group of his/her friends if it was significantly shorter than walking to the cross-walk, then you are sadly fucking mistaken.
By themselves? By myself? Yeah, maybe most people would just walk to the cross-walk.
But young adults especially mingle in groups, and pack mentality takes over, leading people to do things they would never do by themselves.

That’s not a justification for jaywalking, but neither is jaywalking a justification for murder.

Guarantee you’re the same strain of anal warts that actually believes their daughter is “going over to Sarah’s house for the weekly Saturday night study session” while she’s railing Molly off $1 bills with a dick in each ear.

They were told to stop playing in traffic, because apparently they never heard that playing in traffic was a bad idea. When they were told not to walk up them middle of the street they talked back to the officer and told them they were almost to where they were going. That is not jaywalking or crossing the street. That’s being an idiot and not complying with the law.

An unarmed African-American youth was murdered by a Caucasian policeman. Two posters, in particular, are gruesome cheerleaders for a lynching by firearm. Both blame the unarmed victim. One mocks the dead victim and those of his race. I pity that poster, to be so filled with hate for everyone in so many posts about so many subjects without any happiness and joy, with only negative thoughts and feelings to show. How sad that person must feel inside to have such a degree of hate.

Further info can not change the fact that a teen was murdered. Kindly explain what information could change that fact and bring the victim back to life. The unarmed youth is dead. He was shot a multitude of times and is dead. He was unarmed with his hands up. Good God, what don’t you understand about that?

The protesting was much calmer last night with less police presence but it wasn’t without incident. There was a shooting on Canefield (the same road Mike Brown was shot on) and EMT were unable to get to her for a while because of the cars and people walking the streets. Police were called to a local McDonalds (close to the protesting) by the manager and when they showed up bricks were thrown at them, injuring two officers. So while no tear gas or rubber bullets were used it was NOT the peaceful protesting CNN would have you to believe. I also heard a patrol car was vandalized.

Awaiting a press conference now to release the officer’s name……

Just had the press conference. The officers name was released along with some details. At 1150am (roughly) a strong arm robbery took place at a convenience store. The implication by the chief was that Mike Brown was a suspect. The officer saw Mike Brown walking down the street and that is when the incident occurred. At 1201 another officer showed up at the scene and by 1205 the sergeant was dispatched to the shooting. So from the strong arm robbery to Mike Brown being shot was less than 15 minutes.

Local residents showed up to the press conference and once they heard about Mike Brown being a suspect in the robbery every one went nuts. I fear, literally fear what tonight and this weekend holds after this news.

Chief announced another conference to answer questions for later this afternoon.

now i know why the cops tried so hard to get protesters to leave. they had to get into that store to fake that tape!! and when the 2 autopsies show gunshot residue they planted that also.

Now you’re claiming to be some sort of great Prophet or grand Wizard in a tinfoil hat who can predict future events. Interesting, Steve.
