Botched boobs

LOS ANGELES – August 5, 2014 – E!’s hit plastic surgery revision series “Botched” has been picked up for a second season on the heels of record breaking numbers in its debut season on E! Doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif will return for season two with the series’ inaugural run concluding Sunday, August 17th at 10:30 PM ET/PT. The premiere season of “Botched” is currently pacing to be E!’s most-watched docu-series among Total Viewers and A18-49 since 2011. It’s been seen by nearly 24M Total Unique Viewers and over 13 Million Adults 18-49 across all runs to date. The series is currently averaging 1.54 Million Total Viewers and nearly 1 Million Adults 18-49 in its Sunday time slot. “Botched” notched its most-watched premiere ever this past Sunday 7/27/14 averaging 1.7M Total Viewers and is the #1 show on Sundays from 10pm-11pm among Women 18-34 and Women 18-49 (*excludes BET Awards & Movies). The second season is slated to premiere Q1 2015.

In the multi-billion dollar world of plastic surgery, beauty is in the eye of the beholder but for some patients, the quest for ultimate perfection ends in disastrous results.   In their debut season, Doctors Terry Dubrow and Paul Nassif, offered viewers a peak into some of their most difficult operations, reversing the effects of horrendous plastic surgeries.  The series captivated audiences in its premiere run on E! as most people only see the benefits of good surgery and are not exposed to the other side. The doctors were tasked with restoring, fixing and adjusting what appeared to be unfixable, botched procedures.

Season one of “Botched” covered over 20+ surgeries/procedures ranging from crippling nose jobs to the more bizarre cases like altering a “uniboob” and horrendous tummy tucks from Tijuana to counseling a man who spent over $100,000 to look like Justin Bieber. Viewers followed patients every step of the way from the complex medical procedures to the intensive recovery process that resulted in the patient reveal. Thousands of people are submitting their stories for season two including a former professional athlete in need of facial work, a man who had a botched surgery to look more Asian and a woman who contracted a flesh eating disease during surgery in Mexico.

I can’t believe you people watch this shit.

Or OJ Simpson? Prison has made him fat. He doesn’t like that people no longer see him as he was when he murdered his ex wife and her friend (allegedly..yeah, yeah). Anyway, he’s hoping for parole, so he can get back into shape. Maybe a little lipo?

Jenner is starting to look very strange, ala Michael Jackon. Big, very plastic transformations. I would really like to know what’s up with him.

I didn’t want to mention that, I didn’t know if it was true or not. Well…If that is what he really wants, and takes the time to be absolutely sure…I can’t fault him for that. I wish him well. I just hope Kris doesn’t jump on it an exploit his journey for a storyline. I can see her doing that.

It just makes me sad that people will butcher themselves in order to please others. I used to hate Michael Jackson…until I met him. I was working a ride at Universal Studios, and he came through. OMG….he looked like a wax figure, with pits and dents, etc. His face was a deathy gray. Here was this celebrity who had millions, and fame, etc…and all I could do was feel pity for him. He was so troubled.

You would be amazed at how many people don’t research the surgeon. They see cheap cheap and go for it. Many doctors who do plastic work are not board certified plastic guys. Many are ENTs GYNs and general surgeons. As the the guy with the bad hair transplant said, fancy Beverly hills office does not guarantee a good surgeon.

I just can’t imagine the pain being worth it. Or the risk. I’m still thinking of having reconstructive surgery…they are giving me a year (minimum) to think about it. Is it really worth it? Do I really care what other people think of the way I look? Lots to consider.

It’s really nothing to rush into. There should also be psychological elements considered before surgery is done. That is the only thing I like about “Botched”. They turn down those who do surgery for the wrong reasons (like the Justin Bieber wannabe).

Remember the guy who had tons of plastic surgery to make his face look like a cat? He eventually committed suicide. Sad.

5cats: That’s just it. Right now, I don’t see any good reason to have the reconstructive surgery. I’m still dealing with the pain from the mastectomy, and that was 5 months ago. (Wow, that long?) At this point, I would be putting myself through more pain, because others are “upset” about the woman with one boob. Yep…call me “cyclops”. 🙂 Do I care what they think? No. Do I care that they stare? No. (If they are too rude, I’ll give them a real treat and flash them.) I just don’t care what others think of me. That’s where I stand right now.

If you had a mastectomy that removed muscles and lymph nodes very painful recovery, and the chemo and radiation helps make you feel awful on top of it. Reconstructive surgery is painful. I just hope you feel better each day.

5cats: That’s exactly what I had done. I had 2 options for reconstruction: an implant, or reconstruction using muscle from my abdomen. I researched both, and they both sound extremely painful, with long recovery times. I’ll probably just stay the way I am. I’m 59 years old…I don’t need boobs.

In fact, the only reason I would do reconstruction is to get the other boob reduced and lifted. Right now, I have to throw the damned thing over my shoulder to get anything done around the house.

They usually only take abdominal fat for breast recon. It gives you a nice flat stomach afterwards. Ive been doing this almost 15yrs. The implant is under the muscle and it can be very sore for sometime.

Cat, my BFF had a double mastectomy 3 years ago at age 38 and she did tissue expanders before her reconstruction. During reconstruction she got an infection which then caused her to lose one of her implants. She’s been with 1 boob now for about 2 years and is now headed into her final surgery for her last implant. It’s been a long, hard road for her but she has done it with laughter and grace. So, bless you with whatever decision you make. It’s yours and yours alone. My BFF has a 14 year old son and she worries his peer will make fun of him regarding her, but kids are pretty cool. 🙂

@Shellbelle: You are so right. Humor and attitude are vital for recovery.

Sorry to hear about your BFF, and her son. If she has the positive attitude and strength you say she does, he will be fine. He will see that strength, and know that whatever kids or others say, it’s more of a reflection on THEM than on HIM. He should be very proud of his mom. I’m fairly certain that if kids make fun, he will handle it accordingly. Sounds like he has a great role model.

Please give them my best. <3

@Jarlath – Of course it comes back. It’s only a temporary fix. Fat is always being made by the body. I do know someone who had it done while we were stationed in Germany, I watched her son while she was having it done and first few days of recovery. It looked good at first (many said they didn’t notice so that was funny) but now since she didn’t do anything to actually lose weight i.e. exercise and eat better, she’s even bigger than before in every area.

They used to be good looking. Even if they let themselves age naturally they wouldn’t look too bad, but after their surgeries they look awful.

As I understood Terry was very upset about what he was being involved in,which incidently turned out to be more of Tamra’s lies, that whole scene was caused by Tamra desperately trying to ” fill in” Heather and Terry about the shannon’s “craziness” before everyone realised her involvement . She was petrified shannon would confront Terry and Heather. My assesment of him comes from watching season after season and this one moment was no indication of character, it was a shocked reaction but thats just my 2 cents worth.

The way I saw it, Terry was caught off guard by what he heard and blurted his question to Shannon without thinking. Who could have known the evening would turn out like it did? It takes a special kind of crazy for that shit to go down like it did and both Tamara and Shannon fit the bill.

Janice Dickinson??? OMG she is one bitch! She goes to my hairdresser….she walks in, never makes an appt. and expects everyone to kiss her ass. I was sitting in the chair getting my hair highlighted talking with my stylist on one occasion, she just walked up and began her own conversation with him and pretended I was not there. He tried to be gracious and not call her out. Then she goes and gets her hair washed and while under the dryer she screams across the salon “hi so & so” etc. She expects people to drop what they are doing to blow dry her hair…..One time when I was leaving we were in the motor court waiting for our cars at the same time. She chatted me up and asked me how I liked my hair. Then like 2 days later, I saw her at Williams Sonoma, I think she thought I was going to talk to her cause as soon as he saw me she got this weird look on her face and hid!!!!! If she only knew I dreaded her talking to me! She is a legend in her own mind.

I am sure they also do a lot of pro bono work for accident victims, kids with birth defects, and war casualties. They just don’t advertise that. Most hospitals have plastic surgeons who have to respond to the ER call and I am sure they get a lot of uninsured patients.

No. Most plastics guys, do pro bono. Big tax write off and they do get tired of the vanity stuff. Surgeons like a challenge and they like to operate. A chance to cut is a chance to cure and the only way to heal is with cold hard steel. The guys that do pro bono really don’t advertise it either to the community.

I know! That seems to be the thing they are most concerned with in surgery. I couldn’t believe it when Janice pulled out her drains after her surgery. She took a huge risk.

Cat, I’m now 57. At 26, I went in to have painful lumps removed from my breasts. When I woke up, all my breast tissue had been removed and implants placed. I had fibro cystic disease very bad with the majority of the tissue being lumps. At that time, doctors assumed that they would eventually turn into cancer so without my knowledge they performed the procedure. Since then, I’ve had to have them replaced twice. When they replaced the first time, within 3 months the implant hardened and I had to have the 2nd surgery. It has only been maybe 4 years and it has happened again. At my age, I will not be doing it again. I’ll just live with it until I die.

I’ve had two total hip replacements in the last 10 months and did NOT hear that statistic. Then again, for once, I had an awesome doctor and awesome hospital.

Hand washing is all. If a heath care worker comes into your room, demand they wash your hands. Demand your own B/P cuff. Have them clean the stethoscope with an alcohol wipe. Gloves protect them not you. Make sure the remotes are cleaned. You can demand sterile gloves when they change your dressing.

@Five – The hospital I had my surgeries at was extremely cautious and aware of safety. Always washing their hands upon entering a room AND before exiting. They also try to get patients to stay only as long as absolutely necessary. Both times I was out two days after surgery, though I knew I could stay longer if I felt the need. I’m use to the military health care system which depending on location is good at best (or a nightmare at worst) so I appreciate the hospital (and it’s systems) that did my surgeries. I had the best ortho surgeon on the planet this time, compared to the worst 11yrs ago when I had my first hip surgery done in the military system.

I love that you can tell they are really friends. Not just coworkers making a paycheck on the show.

I like the show, except Nassif does look like a chimp. I like Dubrow better.
He has a good sense of humor too.

Karma Grant I DID hear that statistic from the surgeon at UCI who saved my life from raging staph because of the hip joint.
