Lydia goes shopping with her stepson, and her dog, who is wearing a sweater. Why do rich people like to dress animals up in clothes. It is ridiculous. So is this “vegetarian” clothing store. The step-son, Sam is the only person in the store with a functioning brain.
Gina is still pissy about the psychic. Gina called her man in the US and he was outraged at the notion that he had been unfaithful. I mean just because a man is living in another country doesn’t mean that he will want to get laid. Suddenly, her “pahtnah” is flying her over on a first class flight. Thus proving is rock solid fidelity.
Lydia calls and talks to Gina about Jackie’s psychic revelations. Gina denies that she was upset by the reading or that her sudden trip to the states has anything to do with Jackie.
Jackie and Ben are driving in a car. The whole driving on the wrong side of the road thing gives me anxiety. Jackie is the token housewife selection to begin a liquor line. Jackie wants to do tequila, which her advisors advise against. Her psychic vibes disagree with the market analysis.
Lydia and Jackie go to an art gallery and Lydia updates Jackie about Gina flying to the US and informs her that Gina didn’t believe a thing she said.
Andrea seems very proud of herself for being married to a plastic surgeon. Andrea has a nanny and she has her kids on a very healthy meal. I want to eat at her house. Andrea has a lengthy checklist for the nannies. I think it is very reasonable. It seems like it is being edited to be extremely over the top, but I think it is great.
Chyka runs several catering and event planning services. She seems quite normal. She goes with Janet to sell some jewelry. Actually, she ends up having some of her engagement rings melted down and made into something else.
Jackie is pissed that Gina told Lydia that she didn’t believe her readings. And yet, she quickly jetted over to the states to check up on her man.
Chyka has a champagne lunch for all the ladies at a lovely hall. Gina was not in attendance because she has fled to her “potnah.” So immediately they begin talking about Jackie’s reading. Jackie blurts out that Lydia told her Gina doesn’t like her. I like Chyka and her husband. Lydia has a lot of sex talk stories. Bruce joining the ladies for lunch seems odd.
Jackie invites all the ladies to her rock star housewarming party. A wedding dress designer comes to Jackie’s house. Jackie wants to do a vow renewal. She wants to do them every year. Her wedding dress is very…ruffley.
Gina is back from the states. Her potnah denied everything and Gina believes him. They have been together for 8 years. He wants Gina to move to the states but she doesn’t want to. Her talking head sounds like she is considering breaking it off. Gina likes to say that she is a barrister. It could be the drinking word.
Jackie invites Gina to her housewarming and then asks to meet her for coffee. Jackie confronts Gina about what Lydia said about her. Gina denies it. Then when Jackie said Lydia is the one who told her what she said Gina cops to saying it. Then she says that Jackie’s talking to spirits is demonic. Jackie leaves in tears.
Next week, more drama! I can hardly wait. What are your thoughts on the show so far?
I really liked these episodes…and about that cat commercial on the bottom of the recap I believe I am experiencing “allergies”
Wow, TT, I think your blog is psychic. We had that whole psychic/ouiji board/demonic/pray-for-your-soul discussion already. Where’s the ultra-religious anti-occult/dark forces/tarot card/satan lady when you need her? 🙂
I know, right? I am feeling the need to go to the toy store and get me a Ouija board!

You do realize that toy stores are houses of the devil. Otherwise, they would not sell ouiji boards.
Maybe on the upcoming extreme parenting there will be a Rosemary’ s baby.
I like it so far. I love psychics (and totally believe in them, though obviously understand that there are frauds as well), so was prepared to love Jackie. One of the first things the psychics I know (a few) do is develop a thick skin and let it run off them if folks get upset by their readings. I think Gina totally forced Jackie to engage (share the “vibe”) and then was humiliated by the news she got. But Jackie’s reaction is bizarre to me–not to understand that the news would be upsetting and also to let the fact that Gina told others she did not believe in the reading upset her so much. Feels either false and drama-seeking to me, or like she’s a little princess who can’t be anything but praised. And her husband: not Johnny Depp.
As an Australian, I am so glad you are covering this show, THANK YOU! I can’t wait until everyone comes out swinging on TEAM GINA!!!
I will be devastated if the Americans don’t ‘get’ Gina. It could happen, but I have faith that if they can see through Tamra’s bullshit they can see through Lydia and Andrea’s.
Michael Hay, I absolutely agree. The thing to realise about Gina, I think, is that everything is absolutely tongue-in-cheek. Gina ‘gets’ herself! I am an unabashed fangirl. Are you an Aussie? 🙂
I live in Southbank Melbourne next to Crown Casino so have seen a couple of the ladies a few times. Love Melbourne, and was more interested in the places they visited in the show than the women. I do enjoy Gina though.
I’m from Perth so it all looked very cosmopolitan to my provincial self (ha!). Please do share any snippets about the ladies…particularly Gina (who is clearly absolutely fabulous) and Andrea (who is clearly absolutely vile). Also, I am DYING that none of the American viewers have heard of Silverchair and everyone is writing it as “Silver Chair”. Frogstomp, people. FROGSTOMP!
I’m old! lol. I don’t get what Silverchair is supposed to mean and I can’t understand any of the city/subdivision names. I was surprised how cosmopolitan Melbourne is. I expected it to be a very laid back city that is not so slick.

TT, by way of background – Ben Gilles (Jackie’s hubby), Daniel Johns and the other one formed a rock band when they were 15 and wrote an album called Frogstomp, with lead single ‘Tomorrow’. It was an absolute watermark of Australian rock and the anthem of my (and many, many others) grungy 90’s youth. That’s why, although Ben Gilles might look like a hobbit and has a ridiculous yet vastly-amusing wife, he gets a pass. Also, despite his silliness, he seems like an alright bloke 🙂
Thanks for the info. And I didn’t want to mention the hobbit thing. I don’t mind treating my American readers like crap, but I feel the furriners deserve some sort of civility. It’s the accent thing. 🙂

I’m a tad disappointed, I was expecting the show to showcase more of the city so I can have ideas of where to go when I holiday there.
How many times is Jackie going to tell us her husband is a rock star? I can understand Gina going on about being a barrister, that’s her own accomplishment, but Jackie goes in about it like it’s something she’s accomplished
Initial fave so far is Gina. I love how she refers to herself as a drag queen. She does look the part. Her makeup is not anything I would wear but it is fascinating. Kind of reminds me of Gretchen, her look.
How hilarious was it when she talks about going to the gym, and says she gets her biceps from teasing her hair so much? LOVE. HER.
So cool that Gina is a barrister who argues in the higher courts. I would love to see her at work! I think she felt very humiliated by Jackie and is going to make her pay.
Lydia has no filter which will be interesting. Was I the only one who was schocked that she asked Jackie about the pre-nup? Shady!
Chyka and hubby seem really in love and sweet. I love how he wants to spend time with her. Chris IS a hottie.
Andrea and hubby’s party for the machines was stupid. However, I love her family and how she runs her house. Looking forward to the season!
Well, looks like I will be the only who has an issue with “Gina, I am a barrister.” All I could think of was Star Jones – and TT, you could be a psychic, too, because I also thought of making “barrister” a drinking game! However, I was impressed that Gina tried to down play Jackies prediction. It seems like Lydia is the shit stirrer in this situation.
They are all loud, proud and happy to draw a crowd – loving it!
CeCee, just wait. I have to be careful here as I have watched the whole season (as an Aussie who is obsessed with the Housewives franchise) and don’t want to telegraph too much, but you will end up Team Gina, I PROMISE.
Andrea is absolutely vile, while Jackie is a delightful peanut (shine shine shine!). American viewers, I am over the moon that you are joining this version of the Housewives, I have been waiting to discuss this for months! I have literally thrown my wine glass at the tv over this series, yelling, “Never change, Ginaaaaaaa! JUST DO YOU!”
And then we can all talk about LYDIA! Lydia, of , “Say something which vaguely sounds like an innuendo, arch eyebrow, give smug smile, reference private jet” fame.
Ladies, ladies, seeing RHOM on TT has made my day. I really hope you all fall head over heels for our Melbourne ladies…and by the way, no we don’t wear makeup like that in Oz. Gina is just very very special and I will not hear a word against her.
“Delightful peanut.” I like that.
I’m so mad at myself for missing this. I really wanted to see it. Hopefully, next week.
Cat you can just watch it online. Well you can download some of the episodes and watch it, I’m sure Bravo wouldn’t mind if you did it just to catch up with everyone.
i’ll try. But I have really crappy internet, and videos seem to want to buffer a lot. It gets frustrating.
Just torrent the entire season and you won’t need to bother with buffering
I watched the original run on Arena so I won’t be watching this time, but if I remember correctly I was Team Jackie ALL THE WAY (I was so set to hate her because of the psychic thing and that incessant “shine shine shine” business, but I feel like her powers are legit now) and was so happy when she forgave Gina, who was honestly being pretty shady/not nice. Though there’s something very charming about Gina (maybe the big hair and too much makeup remind me of RHONJ?) and I couldn’t help but like her despite her flaws, and I was definitely on her side when nasty Andrea and lame-ass Janet the Alchemist (“when life gives me rocks, I melt them down into ~diamonds~”) were coming for her. Also, Lydia was involved on the wrong side of some of the Gina nonsense as well, and sometimes she played to the camera WAAAAY too much, but I found something about her charming too.
For the Aussies here, who was that dude who hosted the reunion? Which was a bore, by the way.
Replying to Jay, the reunion host is Alex Perry an Australian fashion designer who is married, works with David Jones, has a fashion line and is a judge on Australia’s Next Top Model. I think that is about all he is known for. Oh he also has an eye-wear line, and has been involved in building developments. I think the reunion had very much a ‘season one’ feel. A few fights, a few apologies, nothing too outrageous.
Diggin this, especiallly Gina. I’m actually more interested in this than RHOC. The women are slightly older and more in keeping with what the HW series started out to be before they became product placement factories.
I loved the show. Jackie gives me anxiety, I had to turn the volume down 3 times she is so loud in her talking head appearances. She had to have said “rock star” 100 times. Anyone can claim they are psychic, they even say everyone is. I haven’t been convinced. If I was Gina, I too would be over compensating for the white rat she has to wear in court. I thought Chyka’s husband fit in well with the girls, hmmm? Maybe this is all their way of setting up introductions, I hope the following episodes are not so filled with bragging as the first 2 have been. I like to see rich people living well, not acting tacky.
Lydia is the WORST, Din! Sorry but I have to disagree with you, she is an absolute shit-stirrer and dumb as a box of rocks. And her constant references to sex are just foul, particularly when she is talking about her own stepsons, or other people’s children! She’s not as bad as Andrea, though. Wasn’t the reunion bizarre? Gina was OVER IT.
What does everyone think about Jackie being a ‘shipped in’ housewife? She is from a completely different state and only moved to Melbourne to be on the show ‘allegedly’.
If I am #TeamLydia you are going to dump me aren’t you?

You are totally not going to be Team Lydia after a few more episodes. Say it with me: “Innuendo, arched eyebrow, smug smile, reference private jet.” The woman is a dead-set moron.
Well I am ‘ride or die’. However I have faith that you will soon see Lydia as Melbourne’s Tamra Barney. One big shit stirrer. On her own I like her but within the dynamic she causes a lot of friction. Which is always good for tv.
I have seen the whole season including the bizarre reuinion and I am fully team Gina.. HOWEVER I do appreciate Lydia in a way. She is unintentionally funny and probably the best looking housewife across the board. Whatever work she had done it worked wonders. Can’t really tell if she is Asian or not. And her dog is awesome. She is dumb as a plank though, but hey.
It was kind of funny that the Aussie reunion mimicked the american ones with documents being brought in, twitter wars mentioned, lawsuits etc. I don’t think Lydia is attractive but something about how she speaks I find entertaining.
Lydia seems like a shit-stirrer and although I can’t put my finger on it, there’s something about her that quite bothers me. Perhaps it’s the affectation. I like Chyka and Janet, they seem nice. Andrea is irritating.
And by Andrea I meant Jackie
Anytime I look at Jackie I can’t help but think she looks like she is Celine Dion’s twinsie with a different accent. I’d definitely pay to get a reading with her!
Lydia’s headband that she just had to have looked like what Minnie would wear to Mickey’s funeral.
It did look exactly like that, jr! Which is why I thought it was kind of cool. 🙂
