True-Blood-final-season-0403-6By: Urethra Franklin

Hey scurrdy cats I’m back with some horror fun! Tonight on HBO True Blood returns for its final blood sucking season. I love this campy vampy series that is so damn sexy, twisted, funny, & bloody. Repeat after me: I will NOT be recapping; but I want a fun place to come talk about the show with you all. I missed interacting with you all. So if you are an AHS fan you should be a True Blood fan as well so join in for some vampire fun. This may or may not be a regular feature here at TT because Tamara hates this kind of stuff; plus Big Brother starts this week. I thought it would be something fun and different for the “horror dramedy” crowd around here who are just sick of the Housewives. So this is my public service to get ya away from reality tv for an hour.

READ ALL OF URETHRA FRANKLIN’S POSTS HERE!

I can’t even remember how the show ended last season.  So much happens at lightning speeds on the show, but it ended with some full frontal nudity of vampire Eric burned up by the sun on a snowcapped mountain top. Tonight expect zombie vampires infected with a mutated Hep-V vampire virus invading Bon Temps. Of course there is more with fairy-vampire hybrid freaks, werewolves, & fairies. And I can’t wait to see more with my favorite character, LaFayette; a ratchet flamboyant medium that is a short order cook who serves zingers & shade 24/7…… All crazy fun shit. Tune in tonight on HBO for True Blood and lets talk about it here.

Have you never met porn? Porn, Tamara. Tamara, porn. I’ll just bet that the people on this show are prettier than most porn actors though. I don’t get HBO, but I did read the first 400 books she wrote. I stopped reading at 401 for obvious reasons.

Let’s hope they end the series better than they did the books. Lafayette is my absolute favorite character as well.

If True Blood can be half as good as GoTs was, it’s going to be an amazing final season.

Good to see you here again UF. Being chained to a basement radiator sounds similar to being ‘silvered’ in TRue Blood. Makes me wonder about TT. Is she your Maker? A werewolf? What power does she hold over you? I don’t think she’s from the Fairie branch of BonTemps. I think she is special breed unto herself. 😉
BTW, you’re right about the theme song, and I love the opening montage. Havent seen last nights epi yet but it’s good to know there will be a place to comment later.

It was an intriguing premiere, but I feel like we’re going to lean on the very emotional side in terms of a season. I think it’s because it’s the finale season. It wasn’t the most exciting, but I am excited for the season to unfold. I wonder if the captives are going to be there the entire season. There has to be more than that, no? Maybe that’s just the first half…

I agree with everythang you said except the “light” part.

What I do love about the show is how cleverly the writers use allegory with the vampire story lines about love, death, religion, homosexuality, racism, politics, big business all wrapped up in one big darkly sexy ass series.

But excuse me because I’m still grieving for Tara.

I just finished watching the new episode, I live in Greece so I have to get creative with how I watch american television!

Poor Tara, she sure died fast lol, especially considering last time they killed her it took many episodes and she ended up “living” anyway. Not completely related but I always thought the actress that played Tara had the most beautiful eyes.

I say light because while True Blood is quality TV it is not as serious or dark as say another quality show like Shameless is. Gore aside the writing doesn’t take itself too seriously, that’s what I meant with light. Also other shows like Glee also tackle the same issues, but it takes itself nauseatingly seriously, which TB does not.

Ah ok Din, I gotcha there! Yeah, True Blood can be kinda campy in their jokes. They have a nice balance of giving us some social commentary and also some campy fan service!

The main antagonist from last season, Salome, is actually representing a real person from the Bible, UF! :O So cool how her character reveals a much more savage version of the Biblical story of how she demands the head of John the Baptist!

It’ll be interesting to see what type of social commentary they touch on this season. It’s always my favorite part of the series!

I am going to stick it out like so many of you are because I watched it from the beginning, and I am hoping this first episode of the last season is simply laying the groundwork for something better. I read the books when the show started on season 2. The show currently deviates from the books greatly which is why I still watch it. Want to see what direction the writers will take the characters. The first episode didn’t wow me, and I don’t think Tara is dead. Pam did not feel it, and she could have glamored her mother into thinking so after killing the vampire that attacked them.
