Catfish: Sammie and Tracie

Nev and Tracie watching this episode of Catfish.
Nev and Tracie watching this episode of Catfish.

Tracie is an actress from Rent and a couple of other things. She has an online fan who did a lot of weird stuff online and invented accounts and fake a death for sympathy. I don’t really get why Tracie is interested in meeting her in the first place. This is the kind of shit that happens from time to time online and you just ignore it and move on.  Oh, I get it. She wants exposure.

Apparently, “Sammie” has a habit of Stanning for random chicks who appear on Broadway. It seems Sammie’s only payout is attention from famous people. She just like all the people on twitter who have some housewife’s name in their twitter handle. Nev and Max go to meet with yet another person she is Stanning for online. She has sent the actress named Melissa a lot of fan mail including a creepy poem written in the shape of a heart. In the poem she says that Marissa is basically her first thought in the morning and her last thought at night. This is probably the appropriate place to point out that Sammie is a lesbian. An obsessed, stalkery, scary lesbian. So, hey, let’s go hunt her down and hook up with her. What could possibly go wrong?

Nev and Max go to a rehearsal so that Tracie’s talents can be on TV, because that is what this is really about. They bring her up to speed on Sammie’s creepy interactions with Marissa.

Nev, Max and Tracie all go to the airport to fly to Philly to meet Sam, but not before alerting the paparazzi. Because it’s Tracie Thoms, y’all!  Um, yeah, I’ve never heard of her either.  They quickly arrive at their meeting spot, and Sam is nowhere to be found. She eventually shows up and Tracie starts asking he all the usual questions. Sammie claims that the funeral was her cousin’s. I think she just went to a random funeral and took some video.

Sammie says that is a friendless loner who didn’t feel comfortable in the real world. This whole conversation is ridiculous. What is this girl supposed to say?  Time for Nev’s  self-confidence lecture that by now, we should all know by heart.

The next day, she says the main reason she targeted Tracie was because she was so nice to her because she doesn’t have that in her life. She created the Reese nic to be her best friend online because she wanted a friend. Tracie tells her she is smart and talented all on her own without all the crazy behaviors.

Sammie has the required self-realization and apologizes to Tracie and gets a hug. And they all live happily ever after. Sammie has unfollowed all of her stalkees.

This was an episode we all could have skipped. In fact, this entire season is starting to lose me.

Yeah….I watched this piece of crap too! I watched it because Traci played this bad ass chick that helps two other bad ass chicks, kick the shit out of Kurt Russell in Quentin Tarrentino’s movie Death Proof. She was a better actress in the movie.

Don’t all those kooks seem to live in similar neighborhoods and houses?
I liked that show last year..they get a lil experience in their pantalones and ruin it.

Traci is a great actress. I used to love her on Cold Case. Anywho…Catfish is getting craziers by the episodes…

This episode was dumb. The multiple fake names, the cancer scare before the death….all things nothing new to idiot internet people. Plus, haven’t stand been sending creepy pieces of mail to “celebs” like forever? Just a waste of time.

On the plus side, I had heard of Tracie and just thought it sad that she needed this as a publicity stunt.

This show is horrible. I used to watch a crime show called “Cold Case” and Tracie played one of the detectives. The show was excellent. Why she thought it was a good idea to appear on this show is beyond me. So not a good look for any actress.

I liked being reminded that Tracie exists! Hope it gets her the desired career boost. Doubt it, but…hey if a gal wants a dolla, she gotta make a holla! ?
