WTF? Dimitri Charalambopoulos went in front of a grand jury today over charges of assault and battery by Camille Grammer. The jury decided there was not enough evidence to go trial, despite tons of pictures showing Camille’s injuries at the time, to indict. Camille has been granted a restraining order which I believe was extended.
ALLEDGEDLY, while recovering from surgery in a Houston hotel room on October 16th, her boyfriend Dimitri Charalambopoulos brutally attacked her over and over for nearly an hour!
It seems that Dimitri got a phone call from another woman who was screaming at him on the phone. This caused and argument between Camille and Dimitri. He grabbed her by the hair ripping out handfuls of hair and threw her on the bed. He also broke her iPhone so she could not call for help! Dimitri apparently flew into a rage and according to documents obtained by TMZ, Camille claims Dimitri “squeezed my nose between his finger and pushed upward forcefully, covering my mouth in an attempt to silence me to prevent me from breathing.” Camille also claims Dimitri shoved her on the hotel bed, “repeatedly slamming my head and face into the furniture and completely immobilizing me.” She claims he said, “I wanna smash your head in. I’ll give you a reason to call the cops.” according to the documents filed. Camille filed for a restraining order and the restraining order was granted. What a horrible, horrible situation for Camille. Camille has bankrolled Dimitri’s vitamin business and this relationship is going to be very difficult to unwind.
This is kind of unbelievable.
Well? Which is it? Was he indicted or not. Your first sentence directly contradicts the second. Try again. This time in English.
Sorry Ace, I cleared up the ambiguity. I have been trying to go to bed for over an hour now and the story broke. I forgot I have readers like you who can’t glean info from the giant title.
I broke it down just for you.
Zing.
Who is Ace, and why were they so rude in their remarks? I could see if the person was confused, although your title made it clear to me (what do I know). But why be rude and condescending? This time in English. Sheesh.
I believe Camille. Thanks T for staying up to post this on the blog. xo Jen B
Holy crap! I hope she gets far away from this guy. Reading this, I had flashbacks of the OJ trial, and how they kept playing the 911 call over and over again.
Didn’t mean to be cunty. Thanks for fixing it.
”didn’t mean to be cunty” made me smile. Thanks.

Camille strikes me as the type of woman that would give herself these injuries. If you notice, the pictures approximated what we used to call Indian Burns. Sorry to be politically incorrect but that is what they were called. My brother yelled it out every time he tried to give me one. Perhaps there were members of the jury that saw this possible propensity on her part and more that the public is not privy to. Even attorneys aren’t allowed to hear grand jury testimony.
I do not believe she did this much abuse to herself, called the police, pressed charges and then filed two restraining orders. Where are his injuries? Also who would injure themselves after having a medical proceedure? I’m not buying it.
His lawyer may have used her celebrity against her and said that she’s “acting”. Also, the courts are flooded and jails are full and they may have been reluctant to prosecute. Unfortunately, people still think women asked for it when it comes to violence especially when it’s domestic or boyfriend abuse. Poor Camille….
As I said, lawyers are not allowed in the room for a grand jury hearing. The prosecutor presents the facts as they are known and the grand jurors decide. Other than the state, i.e. the people of the state of…who are represented by the prosecutor, no other legal representation is present in the courtroom. Just the prosecutor, the grand jurors and the judge.
I can attest from experience (and certainly TT can look into it and verify it so you can take it to the bank) that persons appointed as grand jurors assume their mantle of responsibility with much gravitas and take it very seriously. If there are ANY reasons to indict, they do. It is true the prosecutor can present a matter with a possible perceptible bias but then again, if that were the case here it would seem to me to indicate the prosecutor found Camille’s version of events suspect as well. And believe me, prosecutors want to prosecute – if they think the case is winnable.
I have been on the grand jury for a month in Chicago and believe me you can get an indictment for a tomato because all you hear is the prosecutors evidence. This must have been a case with very little evidence because after the prosecutor tells you his case and sometimes the prosecutor brings in people to testify, Then the prosecutor and all witnesses leave the room and then you talk about it and make a decision In Chicago you have 12 people and you only need 7 to vote yes for an indictment.
Jesus Christ Ace, do you try to be annoying and trolly or does it just come naturally?

TT, I’m fairly new and have come to respect you more and more each time I come on. However, I don’t think Ace is trying to be annoying. I don’t know if he is familiar with Camille or not, but from what I saw of Camille on RHOBH, I certainly wouldn’t put it past her to exaggerate this situation! Sorry, but I don’t! Remember the “I have 30% more to do than the other HW’s” and “I have a Jesus complex”? (not verbatim). I’m confused as to why you think he’s annoying. Love ya, even if you get mad at this!!!
Ace, you have a “cunty” attitude. This is the first time I have ever used that word, it is perfect here. I have a judge brother and asst state’s attorney nephew. Per them, prosecutors often times are told to try to avoid a case, even one they could win. That probably doesn’t apply here, but I would certainly not presume Camille is not telling the truth. When it comes to violence, I am not going to assume anything. This man has a history of violence, I believe. Too many women are dead that attempted legal action and only got restraining orders.
I believe I already copped to the cuntitude but thanks for the affirmation.
You did. Which completely spoiled it for me. Bitch.

What the hell is an “indian burn”?

TT,
How about “pink belly?” Ever heard of that one? It’s like a cousin to Indian Burn. I guess you had to have had too many brothers, one more sadistic than the other to relate.
I respectfully disagree. One need not be the goddess Kali to get ‘er done. Two hands will do quite well as it is quite possible for Camille to have used one hand to maul the other wrist/arm.
If it wasn’t clear, that last was in response to Slop Balls.
The other half of that story was that Camille had thrown a jealous tantrum over some text messages, taunting him to hurt her and he simply restrained her hysterical self to the bed before leaving the hotel.
Do not forget Camille threatened HIS ex girlfriend in that leaked phone call where she very bluntly said to the ex that if she doesn’t back off she will use all her power and money to unleash multiple lawyers and make her life a living hell. Sound familiar..?
I like Camille (kissing her hunky friend on the mouth, boobs bouncing on her tennis court, innocently bragging about everything) but I don’t think she handled this situation well and I definitely do not believe her in this situation.
Your information matches mine and contributed to my initial speculation when she first made these allegations. I could easily see her taking some surface redness from just what you stated, him trying to restrain her crazy ass from attacking him and then abrading it more to make it look worse for the pictures she planned on posting.
Camille comes across as extremely conniving. She always reminded me of the Maddy Tyler Walker character in Body Heat. Remember? She was capable of doing what was necessary. Whatever was necessary? That to me sums up Camille. Determined and relentless.
Ace, let’s hope you are not battered by someone you believe loves you. It can happen anytime, anyplace, like unlocking your car door. You will not wear rose colored glasses afterwards. You may even ever have understanding. I hope you have to, but please open your mind. Are you a man?
Wow, okay. I guess maybe I am too naïve.
But she was getting cancer treatments.
Um the moment I typed that last sentence I remembered what I giant cunt my sister was when she was staying in my house during treatment. She actually called my brother and told him I was holding her hostage and abusing her. Um I didn’t invite nor want her there, but allowed it and the abuse was “my drinking glasses were too heavy.”
Now that I think of that, y’all could be right.

Actually, Ace and Din make sense. As I posted above, I have been in a situation with someone with cancer who was not what you hear all the time “oh she is handling it so well, she is such an inspiration” My sister (who is dead now) used the church to do all sorts of things and had got really outrageous with me and call the other siblings telling them they needed to come get her because I was mistreating her. BTW no one else rushed over to take care of her.
It’s starting to make sense now.
I loved that btw no one rushed over. Isnt it nice to have someone else in the family crazier than you! It makes me happy that my aunt is so damn nutty she makes me normal!
Okay but a person during treatment is highly susceptible to much easier bruising and abrasions. So add a little crazy, exacerbated by treatment methods, throw in a relationship on the downhill slide and a screaming match — you still have abuse. Even if she threatened him or screamed at him, grabbing and restraining someone is bullshit. I always thought Camille was highly manipulative but there must not have been more than “he said, she said” for the jury to use.
I don’t recall Camille threatening VIOLENCE though. I may not be a Camille fan but I don’t think she would report this incident without merit. Why put her herself and her family through such a scandal. Seems to me that she has been going out of her way to stay out of the tabloids after the Kelsey debacle. I just don’t see her bringing this kind of thing to light unless it really happened.
I think she believes it did happen. I don’t think she is lying at all she was just not in her right mind at the time.
I agree. Something about this story never quite added up for me. Camille, while very entertaining and well spoken, always struck me as a vengeful, spiteful shrew, especially after what Kelsey did to her, very publicly. I think she had a flashback of that mess when the other woman called Dimitri’s phone and went off the deep end.
I didn’t follow this story, but if he’s guilty and got off than that’s got to be horrifying for her. But, if she somehow did this to make his life a living hell (and like I said I know very little about this case) than she is messed up to say the least. Will we ever be privy to what happened in front of that Grand Jury?
I would be very interested in reading that transcript, if possible.
Me too. I hate that the victim gets blamed. It’s just that none of us were there and therefore I can’t say for sure who the true victim is. It’s an extremely sad situation either way, to say the least. I’d hope we could read what happened in front of the Grand Jury and it would clear things up. If he truly attacked her and they let him off that would further destroy my faith in the justice system. I suppose I’m just stating the obvious.
Hm, I’m not sure after reading the comments but I don’t recall anything about Camille’s personality to think she would injure herself.
Her boyfriend seemed like a punk and this might be a lesson learned about money.
As to threatening anyone with attorneys, seems kinda’ cool to me, as long as your in the right.
I totally believe Camille. He did everything she said. He is a creep. She made a bad choice with him, happens sometimes. I think he has a big cock, didn’t she allude to that on the show? He may be a very charming convincing con artist. I know he is an attorney in Texas. or was. Don’t know if his license is current. Even if she was jealous and arguing with him all he had to do was leave the hotel room. But he choose to be both physically violent and verbally abusive. Creepy angry guy. I hope she is able to get herself completely free of him and that includes her business matters that she was involved in with him. I really don’t care what happens to him , After what he did to her she most assuredly should use her attorneys to legally remedy whatever she needs to. I’m not talking about revenge but justice. I hope she listens to her attorneys and that they give her good advice. I hope she puts this behind her , moves on from this and learns the life lesson that was in this for her. I like Camille.
At the time of Taylor’s abuse claims I did not believe her but since then I’ve decided to never accuse someone of lying about abuse unless I personally know differently. This is a tragic situation all around. I hope whatever investment she made it was minimal/ she can recover it.
I must admit, I never believed Taylor either. I should have justifiably disliked her because of her years of proven lies and scams, but not commented re the abuse. She seemed to parade it around as an attention getter, it was sick. After Russell’s suicide, who knows what to believe, having those abuse claims all over the media, true or not, plus the financial crime issue… I do not see Camille like Taylor at all. Taylor is one in a million, in a bad way.
Taylor is wack. Never believed for one second that Russell ever laid a hand on the skanky bitch.
I don’t see them as alike either. I just regret vocally accusing her of lying because at the end of the day, I don’t know.
I feel like I should address the Ace and Din situation again. First of all I as someone who has been the victim of domestic violence more than once, I have never doubted the victim. Along that line, I would like to ask that no one discuss the Taylor Armstrong thing here in a way that disparages a dead man. You can do a search for Taylor in my search box and see how much I have struggled with that issue. I’d rather not revisit it.
Ace clearly has cunty tendencies as do many of us. I reacted in the same way many of you did. HOWEVER, Ace makes some good points, and is literate and worthy of our debate. I feel the same way about Din. They are not exactly morons wandering in to defend Dimitri, and there are many facts to support what they are saying.
I’m really conflicted on this issue and hope that eventually we have more information.
I do have experience with caring for cancer patients and they are not always …rational. It’s a really hard thing to be going through and sometimes if say, they felt very entitled before their illness that really, REALLY escalates. I’m just saying.
That said I can’t explain the black eye. Could It have been makeup? I thought Dimitri broke the phone? When was the picture taken AND SENT TO TMZ BY CAMILLE?
But even if all the horrid things I mentioned above were true. Say she flipped out, lost her mind and took fake pictures. That STILL doesn’t explain why a grand jury would deny her a trial. The hear only the points FOR prosecution and NO defense….
Like I said, I am mystified by this situation, and I certainly don’t want to doubt the victim, but… things don’t seem to be adding up in Camille’s favor and she has plenty of money to insure they do…

Although I didn’t believe either lady I completely agree with your outlook!
I can only have faith that based on the testimony and evidence presented to the grand jury that their conclusion is correct and both of these people can move on from the incident. Obviously the decision was made to not charge Dmitri with a crime, or in this case since he asserted Camille battered him first and he was acting to restrain her, to not charge Camille either. Even though the evidence was not strong enough to move forward with an indictment that does not mean there was no guilt. If I were Camille I would continue to employ security. To err is human and the grand jury’s decision could be a mistake.
Well, well, well…after reading these most recent comments, I think it’s best that I not follow this post anymore. Comments are pissing me off.
I’ll leave by saying this (and yes, I’m going to overshare, so deal with it, BH, wherever you are): To give herself an “indian burn”, she would have to have 3 hands. I was accused of doing this once, and the doctor confirmed that my injuries which looked like an “indian burn” could not be self inflicted.
Bye.
Hi Cat, I have been blessed in my life not to be a victim of domestic violence. I feel for you and think you should go over to The Maya Angelou thread (I know you’ve already been there at least once) Tamara has a link that will make you cry happy tears about this amazing woman. You will once again be uplifted. My best.
From my perspective on the above comments, you have to look at both sides of every story. DV is very serious, however, you have women ( Jodi Arias comes to mind) that falsely accuse their significant other of abuse. It muddies the water somewhat.
*cue in gone with the wind theme for dramatic exit*
It wasn’t quite dumbed down enough.

Come on? Why would someone who just had their uterus removed beat herself up and pull out her own hair ??? I won’t say much either because its pointless .woman beating and crimes against children doesn’t seem to be a isn’t a big deal in our justice system and its shame . I was shocked when floyd mayweather actuallywent to jail for beating up his ex but look how long it took plus they let him stay out so he could have a boxing match , how is that punishment ?? Mel Gibson didn’t go to jail or lose parental rights for hitting a woman holding a new born and the list goes on . It’s always women who have never been in an abusive situation that say the things that have been said in the comments .
Camille was the same way , she didn’t believe that Taylor was being beaten and then she got a dose up close and personal .
In my first comment I was being diplomatic.
I was sad and disappointed that people would look at Camille’s injurys and come up with rug burn.
Camille has never in her very public divorce accused her ex of trumped up charges, why would she now?
Camille was in love with her boyfriend and the last thing she wanted was public humiliation.
The combination of Camille being a reality TV celebrity, from California and in a Texas court probably worked against her.
Hey Tamara, do you have any tea if Carlton and Joyce were really fired? US Weekly is confirming…And also Brandi tweeted that she was going to meet Yolanda for lunch, do you think they started shooting?
love your blog xxx
It’s been the rumor that those two were leaving since the end of last season. With Lisa holding all the cards, and the delay in filming starting, I feel like anything could happen. We’ll have to wait and see.
First of all, I’m shocked you were able to fit his entire surname in the topic heading without the need for linking several pages together to get it done. Jeez.
Second, Camille made some very very unflattering and wholly unnecessary comments about Kelsey during their divorce. She strikes me as a drama queen and very much in love with public attention so I have many doubts about her charges. Most especially since the grand jury refused to indict since, as another poster already pointed out, it is so easy to get an indictment by a grand jury. The evidence must have been nearly non-existent.
Yes I remember a prosecutor saying that you can “indict a ham sandwich”
One may see Camille as a sympathetic or unsympathetic figure & have it influence their judgement on this matter. The fact that she had undergone medical treatment/surgery that left her debilitated is indisputable. Whatever drama she contributed to the situation doesn’t justify his man-handling. From what I’ve read about this guy (if accurate) he & his brother are both shady, seedy criminal types so that says something to me.
Thanks for the update Tamara. Sorry about your sister.
I have been the victim of domestic violence. I always accept the claims of women when they come forward as victims. I believe they should be given the benefit of the doubt.
That said, I don’t understand why there was a grand jury involved. If you are a domestic violence victim pressing charges in general both parties go before a judge right away. I don’t get what warrants this case needing a grand jury in the first place.
The whole thing seems off to me.
Yes I agree the entire thing does seem off. There must be more to the story that we do not know about
I wonder if the outcome would have been any different if the matter had been presented as a preliminary hearing vs. grand jury? Since a grand jury does not determine guilt, just the strength of the charges to warrant a trial, we have to trust that our peers set aside their personal biases against either party and made a just decision. There decision did not say that there wasn’t abuse. It said there was not sufficient evidence presented to take the charge before a jury. That’s my understanding but I may be incorrect.
“their” decision. Whoops!
For a grand jury in California to NO indite on Domestic Violence charges there had to be practically no evidence. That’s astounding.
I still don’t get why a grand jury was necessary… That doesn’t seem to be the norm for domestic violence cases.

Unless the accused waives their right to a grand jury, like Apollo, the indictment has to go before a grand jury. Since it’s the prosecution’s show, it’s usually a formality.
Yeah, see that is just not right. Grand juries are not used for every “my husband beats me” case in America. We’d all be spending all day on grand juries. Did this happen in Texas? Or Cali/

Wouldn’t the grand jury be on Texas where the incident allegedly occurred?
He was charged in Houston Texas with felony assault. The grand jury was in Texas. Don’t really know much about criminal law. Guess they thought her injuries were not serious enough to indite him? Reading thru her documents for the restraining order (maybe it was her statement for the police, not sure) it sounds to me like he was coked up. His phone rang around 2 in the morning – some woman and texting him too. I would be pissed too! No way is that innocent.
Just read that the guy had his license suspended because he didn’t do his CLE hours. I doubt he had any desire to actually practice law anyway.
she is not lying. there may be more to the story but the bottom line is, he beat her up…….plus his brother is a crazy knife slasher!
Doesn’t seem right…like everyone else in the world I despised her the first season, but I saw the photos taken by police with bruises while she was in recovery. You’d think she could afford the best representation…what’s your professional internet lawyer opinion Tamara? Does she at least have a restraining order upheld against him? Can she appeal? As jaded as I am I find it hard to believe she would hurt herself in that state just to incriminate him.
I went back and looked at the pictures because I had no idea what y’all were talking about with the “Indian Burn” stuff and the “redness.” She had a BLACK EYE. I doubt she gave herself a black eye.
HOWEVER, something very odd is going on for the grand jury not to indict. It would seem like her statements and the photographs would be enough to move to a trial.
There was a report last month that Dimitri had broken the restraining order more than once. There was also a story that he showed up with someone ( a female, I forget who) at her gated community gate telling security that they had and appointment and were not let in.
That story seems odd as well.
I really can’t make sense of any of this. Perhaps we will hear more later?
Has anyone read anything anywhere where Dimitri has made a statement?

I don’t think she injured herself either, but as far as the reports about restraining order being violated it’s all part of Camille’s slander campaign. She was the one who sent those pictures to the blogs first thing, she didn’t even pretend they leaked. She made a spectacle out of the restraining order itself too even though he was living in a whole other state.
As far as I can tell 90% of this stuff is Camille trying to ruin his image, career and life, just like she threatened to do in that leaked phone call to his ex. I’m probably right too seeing how it all concluded out in court.
He DID make a statement, I cannot remember the site, but it was most likely ROL (months after this happened). He contended that his phone rang while they were asleep, it was another woman, one who had helped arrange Camille’s stay in TX for her surgery and that Camille woke up and flipped out on him, and that her wounds were self inflicted to “make him pay”. He left the scene. That was basically it in a nutshell, his version of events..
TT, I have had surgery and procedures that have left me swollen and looking like I had a black eye. My eyes are deep-set. Sometimes the medication I am on for my nerve damage/ chronic pain also leave me swollen and looking like I went 12 rounds with Tyson in the morning. I am not saying Camille did this. I AM saying that it is possible to look that way in the morning, especially on pain meds. Not all of us wake up looking gorgeous and ready to go, especially at an older age.
In addition, I have had those same wrist bruises from IV’s.
Camille doesn’t file the charges, the State or a county files charges.
Camille can file a civil suit for damages but I think he is broke.
Could the lack of indictment on the part of the grand jury have anything to do with the fact that it was Camille’s camp who took the photo evidence and not the police? That might be a technicality of sorts that a lawyer could maneuver around.
(Forgive my ignorance of the legal system TT, my only courtroom experience has been limited to Law and Order reruns.) (Fortunately)
