Catfish Season Three Premiere: So Disappointing

I love this show. It has been somewhat spoiled for me in the past when things were revealed to be even more staged than you might expect, but, if you suspend disbelief and pretend everything is as it seems, it’s really a fascinating thing.

This episode is Craig and Zoe. He lives in Pennsylvania and she lives in Florida. Craig is the catfish and Zoe has him on the hook. So the guys head to Pittsburgh to get to the bottom of things. He actually met her online through his own sister. Craig has a family sob story and needed to be loved. Zoe has stood him up four times. She somehow got all of his passwords to his accounts and got up to some shenanigans I don’t really understand. I should point out that Craig is black and Zoe has pictures of a white chick, but already we suspect another photo of a black chick is the real Zoe. Both are cute so I don’t know why she would use someone else’s pic. But these Catfishers are crazy.

Everyone goes to Florida to interview the sister. I really don’t understand Facebook or exactly what is happening. I’m old. 🙂 Zoe posted a bunch of nekkid pics of girls who were friends with Craig, or Craig’s sister’s friends with full names and on Facebook.

Neve and Taylor Hicks, I mean Max start working the case. It looks like the black chick is the catfisher. She’s in North Carolina. She has Youtubes where she looks evil! They are off to North Carolina.

Eventually, the confrontation happens. Cassandra/Zoe is not cute in person. I don’t know how she had such cute picture before. I get now why she used a fake picture.  She said it was just a joke, she says she just likes like messing with people. She did it for fun.

This really isn’t a great episode. Had I watched it first I would not have even tried to recap. If this is the season premiere, I am disappointed in what this season will be like.

Craig confronts Zoe/Cassandra again. Craig tries to make her understand what she has done. Then Neve and Max took over talking to her. Sigh. Cassandra plays the bully card. I don’t care.

This was a dumb episode. Later on the after show, Cassandra said she had removed the Zoe profile from Facebook but Craig said it was still up. I hope these episodes get better.

Catfish comes on MTV Wednesdays at 10pm

I have the DVR set from previous seasons, looks like I will delete this episode without watching it. 🙁 It almost sounds like Neve and Max are either bored or have run out of ideas.

I was also disappointed. Especially for the season premiere, the story seemed very flimsy. Then, the usual ending, the tough kid is another young woman that says she has been bullied. She pretended she was a hottie instead of a hot mess. If this is real, both parties involved need some counseling and parental involvement. These young people are messed up and hurting. It seems like Neve and Max fly off into the sunset after exposing both to more embarrassment. I hope that behind the scenes they offer something more than a shoulder to cry on.

This was completely true i live in Jacksonville and Zoe Peterson was very popular here but just on Facebook many guys would talk to her but they’d always have one thing in common they never met her two of my good friends are examples that Craig wasn’t the only guy she did this to

Did they ever find out who the actual girl was that Cassandra was representing as Zoe Peterson?

I think the seasons are becoming more and more underwhelming, because less and less people are catfishing which is great! I mean neve’s goal at the end of the day is to stop catfishing right?

I have to say I doubt less people are catfishing. That’s wishful thinking. It’s been going on as long as the net has been around, it’ll be going on long after the show has ended.

I think we should lead him to the person with the twin cousin, who as bum knees and is on disability but wants to work under tables and is clean except for they 45 pills each day, cigarettes and booze. You know the one. The original Catfish.

Watching now and there are just so many holes in the story. The pics syncing to Facebook – only happens if you save the pics to specific albums you have set to sync. So the texted pics he saved?! The nude pics. Why was the “friend” sending nude pics for them to even be in his possession? And how did “Zoe” get possession of the pics if they were never posted to Facebook since her and Craig had never met, she had no access to his phone to get the pics.

I didn’t understand that either. But I barely do anything on FB other than post links to the blog. I figured it was just over my head.

She had access to his FB through the phone, as she said, and the “friend” must have sent the nudes in a Facebook private message. They can be copied and pasted from there.

I never fell for this. It always surprised me that the “CatFishers” appeared on TV. Why? To embarrass themselves? I like how you are stepping away from housewives and writing about other things Tamara.

You are the most tamara “she is not cute in person, I see why she used a fake picture” LMAO. I used to like this show when it first started but the illusion was ruined for me when the episodes started getting formulated. Real shame too cuz the concept for this show is really cool and the movie had me glued to the screen the entire time.

I won’t be able to explain much for this episode because it was beyond confusing. If the boy gave all his passwords to crazy Cassandra/Zoe, I would assume he gave both his Facebook and iCloud passwords. That’s how she synced. My husband and I use the same iCloud account and have to change settings on our phones after some updates because of random issues due to the sharing. IE: his texts get sent to my phone. We can only text each other because when iMessage is enabled, iCloud gets very confused which phone to send which messages to. It doesn’t happen often but it’s a pain the ass when it does. Pictures on FB would be the same but I’m the only one with a FB page. (Facebook does not exist in his phone, so we haven’t had that problem)

Nev and Max only flew into JAX. The hotel they stayed in was on the Northside, if I’m not mistaken. The sister and friends live in a small town just north of JAX. Judging from the description of the pics posted, it sounds like that town hasn’t changed much. It’s been 25 years or more since I’ve been there and oh the memories! Thank God there was no Internet and camera phones back then.

iCloud issues are easily fixed. Just go into settings and use different email addresses. My hubs and I share the same iCloud account but have none of the problems you’ve encountered. Also, we both have Facebook accounts and don’t have any problems. As I stated above, to sync the photos to Facebook you have to set it up for particular album/s.

I see what you are saying, Karma Grant. I assume you and your husband are on the same bill/plan? My husband and I have separate bills/plans. That’s where I think iCloud gets confused. I don’t know this for a fact but it’s what I suspect. We have always had separate emails and the weird stuff still happens.

My father and I share a bill/plan and we both have iPhones but don’t share an iCloud. My oldest son has a an iPhone for work. Nothing weird happens between those phones, even when we try. We played with my phone and my husband’s, and got some interesting results. I could be wrong but, I think this “glitch” is something Cassandra/Zoe stumbled upon and used it to her advantage. She seems pretty crafty.

It’s just a thought. Who knows?

Well that’s true but you’ll still see the same people team up and then stab each other in the back. Plus CT is kind of subdued so he must be off the ‘roids or something because I love it when he’s crazy. And fair warning T, Diem’s not on this season 🙁

Did anybody else sense a little tension between Nev and Max? I know he corrected him when Nev was reading an email that started with Dear Nev. Max jumper in and said ..actually it’s dear Nev and MAX. There was another scene when I felt this too

I didn’t see it that way at all. I felt it was light hearted banter/teasing between two very close friends who are totally comfortable with each other. Not saying I am right…..just my interpretation.
