Elisabeth Hasselbeck Leaves The View to Join Fox & Friends

July 10, 2013 by tamaratattles 28 Comments

I have been a fan of reality TV since the very first episode of the Real World aired. When the first season of Survivor aired I was so into the show that I would participate actively in an online “spoiler” group. It was in fact because of us, and groups like us that Mark Burnett and crew began sequestering contestants who were voted off the island. I was beyond over involved in the program. I was a huge fan of Elisabeth the tiny blonde contestant that was the first in my recollection to be called “America’s Sweetheart.”

I was not particularly interested in The View until she gained a hosting position. She remains one of the few reality contestants to go on to a long-standing career in television. I can’t believe it’s been ten years.

elisebethhasselbackToday was Elisabeth’s last day. She moving on to a journalism job with Fox News. I think that is a great fit for her. She is young and articulate and well-versed in politics. Although, I do not always agree with her political stance, when she begins her may have to watch her on Fox & Friends at least once or twice.  Our “America’s Sweetheart” has grown into a woman and is off to a grown woman’s job. I wish her nothing but the greatest of success.

I just knew this was where she was going. I glad she is getting away from the View. It seemed those ladies were against her most of the time but she is a tigress and did not back down from her views or convictions. I agree that this is a great fit for her. Psst…I watch Fox and Friends all the time!

I am a Behar fan two. Those two were my favorites. No reason to watch anymore. Maybe Fox will invite Behar on to spar with Elisabeth! I wish those two had their own show.

Good luck to her! I too don’t typically agree with her but remember watching her on Survivor. I’m glad she’s found a place with such a good fit. I too remember Fox n Friends from 18 yrs ago when the show/network wasn’t so slanted the way it is today. Back when it was still a news show and the “friends” were funny and had great chemistry.

Oops, 14 years ago. It was one of the shows AFN (Armed Forces Network) aired in Europe.

Can’t bring myself to watch Faux News, but will certainly look forward to seeing her highlight reel on The Daily Show.

Hahahaa…excellent point, I too shall be waiting with baited breath to see this. (Oh please, hurry back John.)
I loved her on Survivor, with Ralph the goat herder, but I’m not in line with her politics – so much so that just hearing her squeak out her opinions was like fingernails on a chalk board to me.

So she’s getting a job as a propagandist and hate-monger. I’m sure it pays well.

It does. I’m sure Aaryn from Big Brother will be offered a co-host role as well.

Just my opinion, but Elisabeth never bothered me. I stopped watching long ago because IMO Sherri Sheppard brings a whole new meaning to stupid. Between her and Barbara Walters, who IMO, should have retired 10 years ago, I just couldn’t watch any longer.

Now all they need is Nancy Grace (please if there is a God, I’d be thrilled!) to move over to Fox News!

If there is a Good God!

And bring her kids too… they’re priceless! Love em!

Elisabeth is smart, composed and professional. Fox would not touch NG with a ten foot pole.

I’m am so happy with this move for her, as well as Gretchen leaving to do her own hour. I love Fox and Friends, Brian is hysterical and should have better on air chemistry with Elisabeth. Like TT I have watched Survivor since the first one, good to see one of them do well. The View was good up until politics became so polarizing. I respect other people’s opinions and views, but don’t like how nasty it became on that show.

Can not stand Barbara Walter and her filtered screen when she is on. Glad that Elizabeth and Joyce are moving on. Also loved her on Survivors. I haven’t watched Survivors since Rob was on All-Stars, too many mean people.

Like you I have watched Survivor since the beginning and loved Elisabeth immediately. I’ve enjoyed her on The View but stopped watching because the first 30 minutes was just people yelling. Elisabeth is smart, professional, well spoken and composed. She will be an asset to any show who hires her. Thank you for making positive comments about her. I’m tired of reading all the name calling, lies and outright nastiness from a lot of people.

I love your blog Tamara, and rarely disagree with you. In this case, I have to respectfully disagree. I don’t think Elisabeth is intelligent at all. She is very poised and pretty, but her remarks are not supported well and her facial expressions/mannerisms are immature. I think Fox News is the perfect place for her as all the female “commentators” have a certain look and style. Very “Miss America” with false eyelashes and pagent hair.

I think Fox is a good fit for her. She has been very unhappy all along and they have wanted to get rid of her for a while.

I’ve seen the view, maybe 3 or 4 times. I’m not surprised Elis got fired. The few times I saw it, Barbara had to shut her down. She didn’t know when to stop talking. When you argue with the hand that feeds you, your days are generally numbered. I’m surprised she was allowed to stay as long as she did. But, she was the only republican on the show, so she brought balance.

I don’t care for the View or any show where everyone talks at the same time.

She was not fired. She is friends with Barbara. She knew, like everyone else that Barbara was retiring and started campaigning to get on FOX years ago.
