I hope everyone is enjoy the holiday and having great weekend. There will be no grilling or fireworks here due to the rain, but I had watermelon for breakfast and ice cream for lunch so it’s a great day!
Thanks so much to all the Tamara Tattles readers and commenters. I know a lot of friendships have been made here and I can be a tyrant about keeping comments on topic. So let’s use these comments to have a little Fourth of July party here this holiday weekend. Open dialogue. Talk about whatever you’d like. Tell me how you are spending the holiday weekend!
having a sunny day mid 80s and the next town over is having the annual Abate Freedom Rally and the motorcycles are rolling in. Next week MY town has a festival so get fireworks times two. HAVE A SAFE HOLIDAY ๐
Happy July 4th. We are expecting rain anytime now. It will probably get here about the time the fireworks get started. Having a great day and enjoying a not so hot day today. It is perfect. ๐
So damn hot here.
I killed one snake creeping near my front door for some free air conditioning with a shovel the other day, and 2 days ago my cats found & killed a young snake inside my house. I think the snake was inside an umbrella that has been sitting outside by the front door for a cooler spot. I put the umbrella in a stand in the foyer, and a few hours later my lovely cats brought me the present. I was HORRIFIED. So I’m paranoid on snake patrol because of the season and hot weather. I hate snakes. Oh sweet Jesus, Ain’t nobody got time for dat!
I turned down BBQ invites today. I may go watch fireworks that the country club shoots off near the bayou by my house….and I have to jump start a car with a dead battery in early evening when it gets cooler. Then I anticipate being annoyed & disturbed by idiots in the apartment complex near my neighborhood will be shooting fireworks well into the late night hours. Vodka is chilling in the freezer.
No snakes here, but I did my best Funky Dineva imitation this morning in the kitchen. When it rains so much things start wanting to come into the ghetto shack to dry off or something. Anyway, Funky Dineva cracked me up on his satellite reporting out at you know where… when he steped in an ant hill. THE ANTZES! THE ANTZES! which is what I cried this morning when seeing the tiny little sugar antzes on my kitchen counter.
I’ve been making chicken broth for two days now. It’s finally time to separate the brothe into some freezer bags and then make a huge pot of soup. Imma eat for two weeks off this 8 dollar Publix greenwise chicken.
And no I am not sponsored by Publix greenwise. But I SHOULD BE DAMMIT! Organic food priced for po folks. What’s not to love. ๐

Oh, Miss U, the only good snake is a dead snake. I live @ 5 doors up form the courthouse and went out last summer and the next door neighbor’s cat had a small rattlesnake boxed into the wheel rim of my vehicle. So freaked. I have spent the last year on snake patrol. At home stores they sell a powder that keeps snakes away. You may have to ask Docwall if it’s bad for pets. Good luck. I have this wild fear that one will be in the toliet in the middle of the night. ALWAYS turn the bathroom light on.
I’ve always had that fear too. I can think of endless terrifying news making deathly snake encounters. It’s a special crazy fear that I learned from my crazy mother. Since the incident I check my shoes before I put them on. I think I am developing some sort of post traumatic stress. If you hadn’t heard, I HATE SNAKES…
OMG! STOP THIS LINE OF DISCUSSION RIGHT NOW! #snakeittoilet #heartpalpitations I may never be able to use the bathroom again!
Happy July 4th from Vegas! The heat has broken here and we are only at 113 so far today, perfect!
luckily i havent had to buy grocery store meat for a while now. I have friends who raise cows and others who do pork. Just out of town farm fresh eggs a buck a dozen. No sweet corn ready yet this year but fortunately i had two dozen ears in my freezer for saturdays big bash
Hey Isabella Flava Flav has EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH of fireworks he plans to set off tonight. Hope you don’t live too close!
On Thu, Jul 4, 2013 at 5:31 PM, Tamara Tattles
I live in the same subdivision as Flav. His home is bigger but it is close by. All the casinos shoot off fireworks and now with this FF info, I will just go sit in his yard! Team FF! It is too hot to BBQ, I guess that is what Americans do on this day but happy holiday to all of you!
Get me some exclusive tea on Couples Therapy! (email it to me) Find out if Liz and the son are around. Ask him about the fire at the couples therapy house (rumor is LIz started it, probably accidently). lol sorry. Always looking for the exclusive.
I am fine on the fourth as long as I get watermelon. I’ve been making soup for two days and it is almost ready!

I will get the 411 and let you know! We got all the D listers here this week, I have a super special secret date with one of them Saturday thru Monday….
We did bbq baby back ribs in the oven. Since it was a some what nice day and not to hot there are those pesky sceeters to deal with. They get so big I am afraid they might take my lil doggies away. Anyway we had so much good stuff we don’t have to cook the next few days.
I went to McDonalds.
Ain’t nothing wrong with a Big Mac with that special sauce!
For sure! If people could say a quick prayer for us here in Vegas, there is a pretty large fire at Mt. Charleston, they are evacuating and we have falling ash and such bad smoke, it would be much appreciated!!
I BLAME FLAVA FLAV!!!
Hope everyone is safe, bella.
We made it through the night, today is better. Fireworks were cut short because all the fires, Flav says hi!
Happy Fourth to you too TT and to every wonderful person here!
This is the first 4th of July in a long time that I haven’t spent the day on my cousin’s boat, in the middle of the Charles River, watching the fireworks and listening to the Boston Pops. My mother had been sick and is just starting to feel better, so I decided to stay home so she could rest. It can be a long day, but we love it every year!
Instead I finished laundry while hubs cut the lawn, then we nipped over to my GF’s pool for quick dip while mom napped, Then a nice little bbq for 3, finished up with watermelon for all.
I am currently on the deck, listening to the top 500 songs on my favorite radio station while I catch up on blogs, and smoke a giant fatty. Heaven.
God bless you for making soup in the heat! I like it hot, but pots of boiling water in my kitchen in the summer just makes me suffocate. It does sound tasty tho!!
The monsooning is keeping the temps down. 60s over night and we aren’t going to hit 80 til Monday. Good summer soup weather. ๐

The only time I am don’t get offended by the word fatty is when it is preceded by the word smoke….
Yeah, buddy!
We’ve had an awesome day. Adopted a shelter/foster dog yesterday evening and are enjoying adjusting to having our own fur baby after not for 20 yrs. Our first together. I’m battling a migraine but getting plenty of loves from the dog. He’s 2 or 3 years old(shelter wasnt sure). A German Shepherd mix (only 50lbs, small for the breed but perfect for us), that was a stray that they loved so much that one of their volunteers has fostered him for the last 7 months, saving his life. We’ve now saved it forever and he loves us! I was told today that he is so lucky but I say it’s us who are lucky. He chose us!
That is awesome. Shelter dogs make the best new members to a family. My mom and I just adopted a sweet little boy about 1 1/2 months ago from a local shelter here. This was his first 4th of July. The shelter said he was about 2 years old. Yea right he is maybe a year old and still so puppy silly and puppy clumsy. But a sweet boy. He is part dachshund and we think maybe beagle. I had just sent a new picture of Percy to the shelter where we got him from and gave them an update of how he was doing and I had said the same thing to them that you wrote. People tell us that he is lucky that we adopted him but I say that we are lucky he adopted us.
I’m so happy for you, Karma. It’s really amazing how much a dog can add to your life. We adopted a cute little beagle from a shelter about 10 months ago. Today we played tug-of-war with his favorite rope until he conked out! Enjoy your new friend! ๐
I have a 94lb husky mix named tank. I take him out to gravel roads and he runs 2 miles a day..i drive..he just has to burn the energy. Right now he is laying across my feet hoping i will get the ice cream bucket he saw me carry in.
Before the whole soup undertaking I roasted a chicken. This makes Banjo (78lb sharpie/kangaroo mix rescue) exceedingly happy. Chicken bites, Chicken skin, Chicken parts from broth making, Chick broth on the dog food. He’s in hog heaven.

TT We have chicken at least once a week. Our three dogs love it. They know they are going to get some scraps when it is chicken day. They can tell when my mom takes it out of the freezer that it is chicken day and follow her around the house all day.
My Inky love chicken. My neighbors are Hispanice and Inky likes pollo, too. Love the dog stories. ๐
Me too! I have always had rescue dogs. I was so sad because I couldn’t bring my much loved dog with me to Guyana when I moved hee two weeks ago. I cried all week long and still get all teary walking about her. But she is now with a family who loves her. There are dogs in packs here all over. The house I am renting has two dogs that belong to or landlord who lives upstairs. They love me as I have doggie treats for them and they come to my door several times a day for treats. They are watch dogs and security is high here. I am grateful for these two little guys! They make my day even brighter!
Don’t pet up those dogs too much! They are guard dogs you don’t want to make them soft! lol. Glad you are enjoying Guyana.
Hey TT the soup sounds delish, I keep saying I need to get back to doing that in my slow cooker. How is the dizziness? All gone I hope. Just having a quiet fourth, this is the first ever in 30 years of marriage that I didn’t do the whole ribs, potato salad, corn, baked beans, etc. Cheated and had Chinese takeout, lol. I think after the long Jodi Arias trial hubs is just so happy that he gets to eat he will take anything I serve up.
Great book that was free on Amazon a few weeks ago, “How To Cook From Scraps” has great recipes for broth and soups of all types.
Listening to the new pup stories makes me want a new pooch. Had them for 22 years then after I had to put my last one down, just didn’t get another. If I ever do again, will definitely be a shelter dog.
Hope the rest of every one’s Fourth is great and super weekend to everybody.
once a week i do a roast in the crockpot to drive my pets nuts. Start it before i go to work and when i get home oooooohhh does it smell good. And does dinner for me about three days.
Sounds yummy!……..A guy who cooks, has a job and likes animals. If I were only single… ๐
Hope you all had a great 4th. I’ll be going dark for a few days. I’m getting my oldest grandchild and will take him to my daughter’s house to spend the night with his cousins. Be right back. ๐
Hi Tamara! This is my first year not living in the states on the fourth. It is so cool here though that the seven or eight people I have made friends with (Only lived here two weeks!) all wished me a happy fourth which was thoughtful of them! My husband said when he got to work today, his office had a bunch of red white and blue balloons in them. The knucklehead was puzzled until his employees wished him a happy fourth! The people are so nice here. I just heard my stuff has got here so I am so happy to be cooking again. If I have chicken and rice one more day I will scream! Just kidding. So tomorrow I hope to go pick up my thirty eight boxes that contain pretty much our worldly possessions! We have such a small house I have no idea what we are going to do with it all! So instead of BBQ we had chicken and rice for our dinner. Tomorrow I will be able to cook and I am making hot dogs. I am craving a damned old hot dog in the worst way! Hope you had a good fourth and also all your peeps out here commenting along with me! Take care all!
Bobbi i had to learn to sew to make my own skull caps for under my welding helmet. I couldnt buy one that kept sweat from soaking the lenses. Ive just about perfected mine though. My mom is a seamstess and i kept asking her to make them and she gave me a sewing machine, the manual and said *you wont learn any younger*
Smart mom…….smart son!
I’m a day late and a dollar short, but HAPPY BELATED 4th OF JULY! God bless America, boy, do we need it ๐
I hope ya’ll had a good 4th! I got to take my 3 yr old daughter to see fireworks for the first time, seeing her face and hearing her ooooh aaaah was priceless! We went to a small town nearby, (our IL town is big and fireworks are a nightmare to go see with all the traffic), and despite a scary waitress at a the dive cafe we had to eat at, it was pretty good. Until I got home and locked my keys in the Volvo, and my husband informed me that it’ll be a whole shift’s wages at my cna job to pay back my mother in law for the 100 $ cash-only locksmith….lol. I guess I picked the wrong career, 100$ for 1 minute with a slim jim!?
Tango – Children’s faces and fireworks are the best photos !! That’s priceless ! Being reminded how much accidental whoops cost — These things happen… no matter how much they cost, just that you were safe till the locksmith arrived. …and Tango, I’m sure you’re well worth $100 every minute ๐ too… to you & yours. Remind ’em !Happy 4th, Lady !
There you are! I was worried I had run you of, Justus! Happy Fourth!
Not yet TT – Not yet. ! ๐ …and Thanks ! ~ Happy 4th of July & for the weekend to you too ! – Looks like we got your rain way up here.
So glad the fireworks are over for the night/morning. My cocker spaniel (Bishop) was a nervous wreck, but I know they (the neighborhood kids) will still be setting off the fireworks for the remainder of the weekend. I ordered one of those calming vests for him but it hasn’t arrived yet, but I hope it works. It supposed to be good for thunderstorms also. We’ll see. Glad that everyone on here had a nice 4th of July.and I did too.
eg…..I would be very interested in how the calming vest works out for you and Bishop. My beagle gets extremely anxious in the car and um……throws up! It does not make for an enjoyable ride when you’re covered in doggy bits! I heard these vests are also good for car travel ~ any information you could pass along would be helpful! Thanks
Hey Bobbi, ~ I’ve read that when you’re outside in the yard or on the porch and such – just open up car when it’s parked in the driveway and let your puppy just sit in it and hang out. Unless he tramatized, eventually he’ll think it’s own space. Have some water and don’t feed him “bits” before you take him driving, if you can. Now all we have to do is open the car door and Strider dives in first, then falls asleep in it. (windows open of course !) We thought he took off the first time he did it till he raised his big head and yawned.
Thanks JustUs……I will certainly give that a try when the weather cools down. Very hot and humid today in New England ~ dog days of summer! Hope you had a relaxing 4th of July.
My husband and I went to our younger daughter’s house to eat. My SIL is a grill master and grilled ribs, sausage, chicken and burgers. My daughter made potato salad, baked beans, corn on the cob, broccoli and cheese rice, and rolls. She made a jello cake that looked like the American flag using strawberries and blueberries for the stripes. Needless to say, we ate, a lot, and while my SIL and hubby watched several episodes of The Walking Dead, my daughter and I painted a tree in the baby’s one. She is expecting August 12th. I brought a ton of food home but my g’sons attacked it like they hadn’t eaten in a week. They are 14 and 17.
I watched the city fireworks display from my back deck. Our city cut the firework display by 10 minutes this year but had the prettiest ones ever.
Oh my, U, on the snakes! Makes me shutter to think of one in your house. Thank the good Lord for your cats!
Isabella, did the fire do much damage?
TT, my bunch love soup any time so I cook it as often in the summer as I do in the winter. You are a gal after my heart…eating watermelon for breakfast and ice cream for lunch.
I meant ‘baby’s room’..not baby’s one!!
Love the dog stories. We have 5 dogs. A pug, a Catahoula cur, Jack Russell terrier, and two shelter dogs. One shelter dog is part chihuahua and the other one is part poodle. The pug is the only one that lives in the house. The others are in a large fenced in back yard. They all have their own house but the Jack Russell terrier and the 2 shelter dogs almost always sleep together in one house!
We celebrated our baby boy’s 2nd birthday… He really is our little firecracker! ๐ We didn’t let 4 inches of rain keep us down. Hope everyone else had a happy and safe 4th!
is the GZ trial going today? Will the med ex make it to stand? The other day i speculated on the wound damage and what could be done with the damage. I would like to adjust my theory to the facts so let me know what happens please.. ๐ … Thank you
ME is on stand now. He is very frustrating and argumentative. He will not shut up. He wants just talk about whatever. Now he is having a hissy fit because the defense requested his notes that he is reading from.
http://s17948.p858.sites.pressdns.com/2013/07/01/sidebar-george-zimmerman-trial-talk-for-monday/
Watch on CNN not HLN (or google for a live feed)
is it just me or do most of the state’s witnesses seem to want to disagree with the prosecutor? This ME wants to say only what HE wants to say, and is rambling on, beyond the Q’s he is being asked. I appreciate him wanting to be precise, and I also appreciate that he spells words that he thinks might be misunderstood due to his accent, BUT-he doesn’t seem like he wants to agree with the prosecutor at all…I stopped watching about an hour ago, so maybe he’s gotten better, but this morning was tough.
Thanks TT. I have to wait until tonight to catch up. Despite passionate veiws from both sides the state really hasnt presented much of a case?
IN MY OPINION, The state is making some headway toward the end after a disastrous start. Other people watching the trial have very different opinions.

Not sure where to post this.
Jodi Arias…judge had moved status conference to July 16.
Ahhh, finally a place to rest or weary heads !! LOL ! Next stop Atlanta, for the Andrea Express… (( Tamara – Get a spot in the court room ! )) Snuggle up to Jinkasaurs or maybe get a back-stage pass from your Atty. associate ? It would be absolutely awesome to sit in.
Bobbi..when my husky was a puppy he would get carsick. He had ne fear or sress for going just the ride made him sick. My vet said to have him ride on backseat and not rear s u v deck. And not on floor of car either. Something about vibration and the animals sense of balance. NOW he can ride anywhere..loves the back of pickups
Thanks for the info, steve…….dogs are funny, aren’t they? Whenever we go somewhere, he gets very excited and jumps right in the car. After 10 minutes or so, he starts shaking and gets a weird look in his eyes. If he starts to drool, we know it’s time to pull over – QUICK! We do have a pickup, so maybe we should see how he does in the back. ๐
jodi hearings been moved to an earlier date? GOOD. That means Judge Sherree isnt letting J.Willmotts scheduling conflict slow jodi from her destiny.(hopefully). A tiny cage for a long time no matter what. Did jodi get sent to the 20 bed psych eval place?
No, Steve, she hadn’t been sent to psych evaluation, at least, not in June when prosecutor, defense, judge, JA met for whatever it was…I forgot what it was called.
I need a place to whine so I am doing it here in my catch all thread. Feel free to ignore this venting. First of all why oh why will it not stop raining. It has been five days and the next five look like MOTS. Grrrrr. But my real complaint is the cost of medication in this country. As we all know I am crazy. The pill for my crazy is called Effexor. It’s a very common anti-depressant. I was taking the generic but my pharmacy keeps switching the generic brands around. The potency of generics varies as much as 25% from the label brand based on who makes it. My doc said I should take the label form because the variances effect me. Fine. I have no insurance because I have no job. I do have rapidly dwindling savings. I hope to eventually make enough money blogging to cover my minimal expense. Anyway, I went to have the label script filled and it was $300 a month. So I had to investigate Canadian/British pharmacies. I found nearly three months worth of brand name Effexor for just under $200 a month. SCORE! So I paid for it and now have to wait 2-5 weeks for it to arrive from England. Meanwhile I need a month to tide me over. That was $166 dollars for one month of the GENERIC. Meaning I paid four hundred bucks for crazy pills in one month. WHY THE HELL ARE MEDICATIONS THREE TIMES MORE EXPENSIVE HERE THAN ANY OTHER COUNTRY IN THE WORLD????
The answer is the damn INSURANCE companies. I hope that ObamaCare fixes this. But I fear it will not.
Okay. I feel better. I just needed to get that out. Carry on.
