Jodi Arias Interviews Tonight?

May 21, 2013 by tamaratattles 201 Comments

Will we see any of the interviews that take place in less than an hour on the news as early as tonight? Please use this post to give us updates on Jodi interviews only. The regular post for today is still very active for general comments.

FIRST INTERVIEW HERE  more beyond the fold…

LINK TO TROY INTERVIEW IS UP

ABC LINK (FOUR PARTS)

NBC LINK (Today Show)

GOOD MORNING AMERICA LINK

With regard to the above interview with Daryl Brewer, I realize most of you saw it earlier today, and I thank you for alerting me to it earlier. I just now have had the opportunity to view it. I was deeply moved by Daryl’s words. It would have swayed me toward life I believe. I found him sincere, compassionate and his insistence that the PPL and Mormon Church, both of which are rather…cultish for lack of a better word, The Secret…all of it combined with someone with clear emotional and mental disturbances would prod me in the direction of mercy. For me, it was a huge failure on the part of the defense not to call him.

So again, let’s use the comments here to discuss Jodi’s interviews, and Daryl’s if you would like. I am trying to peek in on the Oklahoma situation and would appreciate a heads up here on HLN updates re INTERVIEWS here. Thanks for all of your intelligent and thought provoking points today. I’m blessed to have so many intelligent and articulate commenters.

Do you think she asked them if they had time to color her hair back to platinum for the interview?I wish the lady interviewing Darryl Brewer would have asked him if when Jodi came to pick up gas cans was her hair blonde or dark brown? Maybe she colored her hair at his house? Hmmm.

I think Darryl is having a stab at famewhore and revisionist history. If you watch this recent interview and rewatch his testimony, it’s laughable. Even under oath he was playing word games with Juan much like Jodi. Darryl was given Jodi’s grandparent’s DVD player in exchange for 2 gas cans. It came out because Jodi said she returned to Darryl’s place because she had a remote control of “his” in her rental car.

I strongly disagree. He did not want to be on camera during testimony and was not. HE WAS IN A FOUR YEAR RELATIONSHIP WITH HER. Maybe he is trying to justify to himself and others how he could have been such a poor judge of character, but I found him truthful and compelling. He would have moved me toward Life. Your opinion may be different.

Darryl received the stolen DVD player from Jodi’s burglary of her Grandparents in exchange for the gas cans that are right there on the premeditation path. He testified off camera so he got a break from the court. Giving an interview outside of court and not under oath has no punishment for him. He enjoyed the interview. He didn’t request no camera at that interview. I’m guessing he’d have had such a request honored.

I agree that Darryl probably was unaware at the time that she stole it. But he traded the gas cans for the DVD player. The gas cans are one element of premeditation of a murder. He was used and is too blind to see.

TT I just watched the Darryl Brewer interview. He seems like a very nice, considerate man but he is almost 20 years older than Jodi,do you think he could have been sort of a Father figure lover for her?I think once she met Travis, a guy her age, charismatic, potential for financial success, led an exciting life compared to boring dessert, playing the working mom bit she was ready for a change.I think with Darryl the old Jodi was hibernating and once she met Travis she saw opportunities,it’s just Travis didn’t want to share his potential with her and she freaked! I don’t think what she was with Darryl was just another imitation of a normal person.

I think moving in with Daryl was like moving in with her grandmother. Daryl was safe. Adoring. Providing a regular home (not living in hotel “barracks”). $$$ Most importantly, he appears vulnerable, what sociopaths crave. That said, I cannot believe Arias was the angel he portrayed her to be. Arias has a *life-long history: Childhood Conduct Disorder, evolving into Anti-Social/Sociopath behavior! He lived with her for 4 years & knew her for @ 1 year before. He was her manager. He had the attraction for her, Big Time. Boloney he said it s-l-o-w-l-y grew. He gave up his manger position to be a waiter, as it was forbidden “to associate with the [waitress] help.” He wanted her! She managed to get him, to his ruin. Putting 2 & 2 together, I strongly feel something was not right with Daryl. To be blunt, “a screw loose” &/or lying. Come on, all who knew Jodi got the chills shortly after. Even Travis knew within a couple of months, & said so. Yes, he kept going back, but it was an on & off relationship. Daryl Brewer maintains Jodi was “Betty Crocker,” “Stepford Wife,” “Mary Poppins”… His life with her, “The Brady Bunch.” Baloney!

Great post. Agree, Dawn. (Though I find Daryl thoughtful, articulate, measured, honourable… despite likely dose of denial.) He completely glossed over the fact that she got under his skin to the degree that he demoted himself, finally leaving a workplace & whatever seniority or growth potential, there, to be w/ her. As she deteriorated in Palm Dessert, daily life could not possibly been good. He indicates an uptick in psychosis & an under-same-roof estrangement that generally makes life a living hell? Honourable, but in denial.

Great job as always TT. Just not “getting” the Darryl interview. He seems to have a really high opinion of the “old” Jodi except that Jodi doesn’t match up with what her Mom and Dad said in their police interviews about her always being a problem. So when she was young and living at home, she was a problem. She runs away to Darryl and becomes “nice” and then meets Travis and becomes like the old problem Jodi. Seems like maybe Darryl knew the fake Jodi and Travis and her parents knew the real Jodi. Don’t think this would have swayed me to believe she has redeeming values.

Most of the time I am anti death penalty and think it is a barbaric custom but Jodi just seems so evil I worry she is a danger to others. Something is also not “smelling” right as Darryl is saying he wanted to testify so why didn’t he? Did Jodi stop this? Either way it just seems to me like Jodi has a strong emotional/mental hold on Darryl like in manipulation context.

Not sure why she is being allowed all these interviews, what happens if the jury is hung? More Jodi crap out in the universe to impact the picking of a new Jodi. I don’t believe Jodi will show remorse, admit to premeditated murder and well…..I haven’t seen any evidence that it won’t be a big lie from beginning to end.

I found Darryl very credible and sincere. I think a whole factor that has been ignored or glossed over in this case is the persuasiveness of the combination of PPL and the Mormon missionaries, using all the tools of the salesman and pep-talkers, together with that toxic bloody book The Secret, to keep people in a state of false hope in the pyramid scheme. Travis was an expert ‘closer’, which means he was able to use all his considerable charm to ‘seal the deal’ with people, and was particularly successful with women. I can see how a concerted effort by such a charming man to ‘put starts in her eyes’ would bowl somebody like Jodi Arias right over and off her feet.
For more than ten years, I worked in New Age publishing, and came face to face with so many people just like Travis and Jodi – they are two sides of a particular philosophical coin – the charismatic ‘leader’ and the adoring ‘acolyte’, who in effect use each other to forget that both come from a place of poverty and neglect, and both are actually filled with rage about that. In my experience, these kinds of relationships always end in tragedy.
Travis didn’t deserve to die in such a terrible way. Nobody does. I do believe, however, that he was abusive to Jodi privately, because it gave him a sense of personal power that he could then take out into the PPL world. I think he used every bit of his Napoleon Hill-based knowledge to influence her, while telling the world she was stalking him. I don’t believe he was the saint everyone has made him out to be. His family have rap sheets as long as your arm, and that isn’t surprising at all given the trauma of their upbringing.
I think it was a case of two manipulators desperate to overcome their roots, knowing too much about each other and honesty I think the culture of hypocrisy and secrecy and false positivity in which they found themselves sent one of them over the edge. I fully believe it could have been either one of them that cracked.

What I would really like to know is the true extent of the Hughes involvement in all this, as there is more to that story than meets the eye. That toxic closed system motivational ponzi scheme is still operating, and other vulnerable people like Travis and Jodi are being sucked into it as we speak.

Just my take on things. I believe in ‘justice or all’, not just for Travis. Sorry if that’s offensive to some.

Your views aren’t in any way offensive. I would point out that most Ponzi-like schemes are toxics and based on the trickle-down theory involving very little trickle-down. But I would take issue with your views of “The Secret”. My hubby and I watch that video at least once a month for positive inspiration (and notwithstanding the s**tstorm that one of the presenters caused by his groupie/tent-like revivals and the poor people who died as a result), we find great comfort in it. It hasn’t made either of us “stabby” in our outlooks or actions, and it never contributed one iota to a belief that we were “better” than anyone else, certainly not enough to make us want to kill anyone. Jodi ruined, in part, The Secret for me because she used it as an excuse for why she wasn’t honest with herself or in her journal. But the tenets in my view remain the same and I embrace them. Just not in a stabby, Jodi kind of way. 😉

puravidacostarica, It sounds like you and your hubby are healthy, positive people to begin with. I honestly speak from experience when I say (just like Dr DeMarte said) that the concept behind The Secret – i.e. that we are solely responsible for creating our own reality, and that it is important to rid ourselves of all negativity, leads people with mental and emotional problems into denial and despair. Life is filled with ups and downs, some are not of our own making. It is important to acknowledge the negative aspects of life – grief, loss, loneliness, unrequited love etc. so that we can move on. I actually believe that Jodi didn’t write anything negative in her journals
because she was trying to focus only on the positives. And I also believe Travis did the same – if you read that last blog entry of his, it is an affirmation. They are a perfect example of how we can deny reality and end up in very serious situations, if we see only the positive (or create a false positive) where there isn’t one. It is delusional for people who don’t have a firm emotional/mental foundation.

That said, bless you and your hubby and I wouldn’t want to spoil the benefits of the book that are coming you way. It’s just an observation, from my readers’ mail over the years.

          Thanks for engaging with me.

The only scintilla of evidence that said that TA was abusive in any way came from JA’s lying lips. While I agree with you on ponzis, and justice for all, I simply refuse to take JA’s word that TA was a very bad boy.

With genuine respect for your opinion, Peachteachr, I consider the emails he sent to be very abusive, and his using her sexually when he had no intention of being with her to be emotionally abusive, and I believe Sky Hughes thought he treated her (and other women) in an emotionally abusive manner too. You don’t have to be physically violent to someone to be abusive.
That doesn’t justify anything she did to him, don’t get me wrong. I’m just saying that it’s unfair to put the entire burden of disfunction that led up to this terrible crime on Jodi alone. I think in many ways they were similar – neither had the tools to have a healthy committed relationship, and I feel they both connected on their pain and damage, which is to me very sad.

I think these interviews are jodi’s final FU to the State, the jurors and her own attorneys and the court system. At this time the jurors are agonizing over a verdict. It’s life or death. How do you think they will feel if they do show her mercy only to find that while they were sweating blood she was demanding makeup to do an all nighter in front of the cameras again. I don’t think Jodi’s 19 minutes of “me me me” was terribly compelling, but who knows?

You really think these jurors are ‘agonizing’ over their decision? No, I think they’re on their phones, tablets, computers, etc. reading about the trial. They already decided on the death penalty after the first day of Jodi’s testimony. I hope that on appeal, each one of those jurors’ electronic devices are checked for activity during their time at the court. This jury is as biased as the judge and the proscecutor.

perhaps, though, they just call a spade a spade, maybe common sense is with them and they realize that , often in life, things are just what they appear to be…………..or, to put it another way……overwhelming evidence, a lying defendant, strong evidence of premeditation and a true lack of remorse, compounded by a defendant who is not only not sorry, but frankly, still blaming someone else for her own choices of behavior…. roundroom must come from that “alter-universe” of “jodiariasisinnocent”….LOL

TT I agree about her mental disturbances, clearly Jodi is not normal. But I wouldn’t find that as a reason to give her life. She wasn’t wackadoodle incompetent crazy, she was sane enough to go about her life, working, dressing, eating, driving, etc. And certainly sane enough to plan and cover up a crime. She may be sociopathic, psychotic, or just plain evil. But she had free will and made her decision to kill and defend herself, never claiming insanity defense.

No. Troy Hayden went in prepared. He let her have it right on. She had difficulty composing herself & striking back. Yes, like a snake, her head was moving like I never saw before. Usually, she is motionless when speaking. Then her tongue. Of course the eyes, like a snake’s beaded, focused to strike. Apologies to snakes, I respect them. But the stereotype of snake/lizard was all I could feel when watching & hearing her. Chilling.

      Why am I watching this?
But it’s such entertainment watching JA smurk and smile while talking about how she will appeal if she gets the death penalty. It is as if she is hoping for the DP so she can beat Juan. Although, she doesn’t believe there is an untainted jury out there. That is partly her fault, since she has contributed greatly to the popularity of this trial. She started it with her 1st interview and keeps the flame burning. She will never shut up until she is six feet under!

Jodi says she is hoping for life for the sake of her family. Jodi says she will go through the appeals if it is death. He asks what changed her mind. Her cousin said don’t do anything, don’t do that to your mom and that weighed heavily on her. She does not want to do that for her mom. She will fight for her life. WHat if there is a new jury? Jodi feels like there is no untainted jury pool out there.

Jodi says she did not get a fair trial because it is a circus atmosphere. He asks why should could be so hated. She says she can’t say, psychologist say it is gratifying for some to enjoy soeones fall.

If you could say something to Travis, would you say? I don’t think I should answer that.

Would you date travis again if you could go back. No.

TT Jodi will love very minute of the appeals process because every time something comes up to the courts she will be in the news. This will be her own public soap opera.I can’t wait the trial is over, the jury views the interviews and hears her saying how she feels betrayed by the jury! She is cra cra! If I recall it has been her team that has brought about the circus atmosphere. Beginning with her own defiant snarky attitude, giving the finger in court, and tweeting insults to the prosecutor. That was center ring. In the left hand ring brought out with the clowns was Dick Samuels,in the right hand ring brought out by the elephants was Alyce LaViolet. Then for the Grand Finale,on the tight rope was Jennifer Wilmott balancing high in the fog, while the RingMaster Kirk Nurmi rides a unicycle with a monkey playing symbols on his shoulder.Granted Juan was the Lion Tamer and Judge Stevens was in charge of the Clown Parade.Remember the Circus comes to town once a year.I wonder who will be in the circus next year?

Her detailed rambling, babbling on the stand describing sex! Arias holding-up court so many times. Her *continuing interviews. The defense, under HER direction, crossing the line of sane & decency. THE HUMDINGER! VERY TELLING: “Psychologists say it is gratifying for some to enjoy someone’s fall.” Ya Jodi. How many did you try to bring down & will not let go of? Travis, his family & friends. Jodi’s Mom would be cross examined. Patty W. would be cross examined. Darryl would be cross examined. Alyce would be cross examined.

I watched the interviews posted thus far and only have this one observation — Jodi has no self-awareness or awareness of those around her. She apparently has no clue (or refuses to see) that people are utterly disgusted by her and her behavior. She continues to believe that, if she keeps talking, someone somewhere will see her side (hello Jodi is innocent supporters — she’s talking about you dumbasses). She cannot for a second believe that a universe of folks out there find her to be vile and unworthy of possessing space on this planet any longer. It is incomprehensible to her. Give her life and give her a lifetime of a continued belief in that nonsense. Give her death and she at least has 20 plus years to hopefully figure out that maybe, just maybe, she was wrong. But then again, case in point — Betty Broderick. Another woman who, to this day, will proclaim her righteousness and her “entitlement” to have done what she did. I…am….amazed.

I have mixed feelings re the death penalty. But believe 99% Arias deserves. To sit for how many years in a box. Severe restrictions (books, fresh air/sun, human contact). No make-up! Maybe not tweezers for those manipulated eye brows!! No *direct access to media, twitter, web sites… But she will for sure get her vile buddies to do her bidding. But most likely, these will be silenced, &/or, just fade away. Same as Ms. Arias will crumble into debilitating fear, insanity. Shame on me but no other penalty for her after I saw her in front of the jury & Troy Hayden’s 2nd interview. So, Arias IS a threat to society if in prison with life penalty.

I think this case would make anyone question an anti dp stance. This isn’t OJ or even Casey. She admits to this slaughter and then sits and calmly discusses it like it was nothing. There’s no shadow of a doubt in this case, it was all about just minimizing her verdict from the start. If there’s ever a doubt that a person did it, that’s one thing, and certainly calls for life not death. But this is just too heinous to say she doesn’t deserve the maximum.

Dead, Spawn of Satan to meet the White Light who will have to fiercely strike her down to the pits of Hell. I was not a religious person, but this is what Arias has brought out in me. Exactly Teresa. He said she was not like that before, until she met Mormons and ppl.Thats not true. She was like that before she was with Pawpaw Brewer. She was like that with Bobby,Matt and Travis. She wasn’t like that with men she wasn’t in love with, she cared for Brewer but wasn’t “in love” with him.In fact lol he even said she was a great caretaker and great caregiver. Okay, maybe I’m dense, but I’m not buying Darryl’s interview as much as others may be buying it. The only thing I’m buying is his statement that “Jodi needs help”. He’s acknowledging that she is suffering from mental illness. But his interview is by no means an endorsement of Jodi as a person or human being. He didn’t want to marry her, and his excuse for doing so is not credible IMO. He acknowledges that she had “plans” when he says he didn’t know of her “plans”. True love never dies in his view — so he equates Jodi with his son’s mother . He loved them both, according tohim. Too much, too late, isn’t it?

I tried to post three times and lost them all (maybe God or karma is trying to tell me something?). But I guess I’m not a believer that mental illness “hits” at a certain time . As Jodi’s mother said, she was told for many years by Jodi’s friends that she needed help. But the core, the seeds, of whatever she suffered from was there. And I’m not sure that saying it just wasn’t recognized by those who loved her or spent time with her is enough. I’m not saying it’s their fault. I’m just saying their blindness is not an excuse for Jodi’s behavior. Nor is, in my view, mental illness an excuse, necessarily, for murder except as defined by insanity as a defense. If you know it’s wrong and you do it anyway, I don’t much care if you suffer from low self-esteem, anxiety or whatever other label you want to put on it, you’re not getting a pass from me. Signed, the cop’s kid.

Good morning, puravidacostarica! You are largely correct. But many mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder typically “blooms” or manifests usually in late teens, early 20s. I have mild rapid-cycling bipolar disorder and unfortunately, my big bro has severe bipolar. But looking back at my own childhood and teen years, I do believe, absolutely, like you said, there were certain signs. But they were like blips, and chalked up as behavioral in nature. Very thankfully, I am a productive member of society, even if I am still a bit quirky and weird! 🙂

I just watched Darryl Brewer’s interview, and didn’t buy it either , puravida. Perhaps we are just more cynical than other people (maybe b/c of his “love” for Jodi?) I can’t really put my finger on it, but something just seemed off with his perception of her. As a rule, most people don’t go from what he described to what she ultimately became! Did he really not see any signs of a personality disorder or mental illness? Hard to believe.

I used to be in love with one when I was 18. Far too wimpy. I am sure he was just diggin’ the free love with a “pretty young thang” on his arm trying to set up housekeeping rebound out of a divorce. Wasn’t he married when he started it up with Arias ? Ok so now add “homewrecker” to her work resume. But, what ever… I’m sure it’s shocking to him now. She was letting LDS guys come to their home and dissin’ him sexually @ the same time. That takes nerve !!

I heard a snippet of the ABC interview Amy Murphy had with JA. She said JA had rules for THEM…no shots of her hand cuffs or striped pants. She has a white blouse on. Also, she asked them to turn off the camera so she could put on lip gloss and comb her hair! I think this interview is more sickening than the one she did with Michael Kiefer and she definitely tells more lies.

It hits home for me too, I had an adopted mother (and I say that while throwing up a little in my mouth). She did not want kids and let me know when I was 15, this is what she did to my dad to get revenge. She threatened suicide on a daily basis – like Jodi. Accusing my father of cheating on her-like Jodi did to Travis. There were fits of rage – just like Jodi. I had her admitted to the psych ward- the judge (friend of hers) let her out and went after me. I could go on about her hygiene habits, accusations against me, etc.. The day we buried my father, she was a different person, hair fixed, cleaned up and surprise walking without that damn cane she threatened my father with. The whole time laughing and smiling about how she had him and everyone else fooled as she packed for Hawaii, and laughing that her threats to get what she wanted had worked. She was also a crazy bitch – sound familiar?

Troy Hayden 2nd interview. She was disgusting. Arrogant, per usual. However, I feel Mr. Hayden kind of had her on the spot. She seemed a little uncomfortable. How many times she said “I regret saying…” Like she can do an say all she wants & then feels she can undo. But this is her way of doing All Jodi w/o responsibility. The martyr wants death but is living for her family?! She is chicken s**t. Funny (but not), she wants to go into prison & be like the warden. She thinks she can be the sole person & the best for change within the prison (with this attitude, the good ole girls will get her!). She is “sorry?” And in the next breath wants to be the spokesperson for DV!! And notice her persona in front of the jury, “mitigating”: She was Jennifer Willmott. She was “pleading” for her life with all the mannerisms, point-by-point talk of her defense attorney. She must have been ecstatic handling big screen slide monitor. Keep on Jodi. You con’t to condemn yourself as you did on the stand in front of the jury. You are your best prosecution ~ 🙂

I think he caught her off guard with his first question…why didn’t you apologize to the Alexander family?…and then she went into her spin! She also added to her story about why she wanted life.

He definitely caught her off guard. She sat there comfy before Troy Hayden began. With his first question, her body language & facial expression said volumes. She sank a little back into her seat, face “dropped.” But as you said Rose, she quickly regained her in-your-face, arrogant self. And tried to let him have it with throwing back why HE wanted the interview when he asked why she needs to give them. But I feel Mr. Hayden “won” this one with Jodi Arias.

Anyone who has ever had any prolonged interaction with a bpd or sociopath or whatever you want to call them, knows that Stabby is just doing what Stabby does. You approach this person with rational thoughts coming from a rational mind, but these people don’t work that way. IMO there is an element of soullessness, evil, maliciousness, in these creatures. So you keep applying your rational thoughts to try and explain why they do and say the things they do, but it just doesn’t compute until you realize that you can’t approach them that way. I like to think of it as playing mental chess with my “special sociopathic relative”. Assume nothing, trust nothing and I mean nothing, they say. If you can look at Stabby this way, it begins to make sense. She will keep doing these interviews until, and let’s all pray to God it happens soon, the jury returns with the only, the righteous, the just, verdict of death for this pathetic excuse for a human being. It would truly make me have a secret happy smile inside to know when this occurs.

Hi firstwife……I read your post earlier and thought about it for the rest of the day. Because I too have had to share life with a “special sociopath,” I can truly relate to your perspective and sage advice. Mental chess indeed!! My “special” became my sister-in-law when she married a beloved brother. (who reminds me of Mr. Brewer, btw) She used this sweet clueless man to nurse her through breast cancer, raise her THREE children, support her lavish lifestyle for a decade, and then proceeded to dump him for a younger guy. There were stories about a bloody encounter when she later caught her young boyfriend in bed with a new ladyfriend, but thankfully nobody died. Still, the similarities are chilling and I know this has been the reason I have not been able to look away from this trainwreck.

I LOVE it that you refer to the Evil One as “Stabby.” It fosters a grin instead of a grimace. We had a name for our “special” too. We called her “doughnut.” (An empty hole where a soul should be.)

C’mon jury, DON’T FAIL US NOW!

They would be able to estimate approx. distance she could throw and they could use metal detectors. I know its a long drive but I’m sure she got rid of it as soon as it got dark and she had to be rid of it before the check point. I know this is all moot since she has already been found guilty of premed first degree, but I would love for gun to turn up and proven to be grandpas as a “whatcha gonna say now Jodi, we knew it was grandpas stolen gun!” how would she spin that lie?

Can she describe its details — how big, how heavy, handle characteristics, how it differed from her grandfather’s gun? I guess I’m hunting for more lies, for certainly that is what the answers will be.

GMA interview was the best. They showed her prison pants and she calls the dude a hater.

From Sheriff Joe Arpaio, via Twitter:

    1. “Some of u r mad about the jodi arias interviews. Pls Understand: We can’t step on her 1st amendment rights. We allowed them & now – NO more.”

    2. “Thanks 4 reminding me of this misnomer on the internet: we did NOT buy Jodi makeup. We wouldn’t do that. The media provided it to her.
