Jodi Arias Post For Thursday: Juan More Time!

Why hello there, Dr, Horne! Wanna play Medical Examiner? I'll be the corpse.
Why hello there, Dr, Horne! Wanna play Medical Examiner? I’ll be the corpse.

Thursday is expected to bring us Juan’s last witness for the Jodi Arias trial. I thought we would never get there but tomorrow, rebuttal is over. It will be bitter sweet because the last witness for rebuttal is Dr. Horne, the medical examiner. The guy is smoking hot and if I ever need an autopsy I’m going to right it in my will that he comes out here and does mine. Um, I may need a fund for that. So you know how when someone dies you take up a collection for their kids college (which I always thought was stupid, but this is GENIUS!) well, Kimmer is gonna come here and ask you guys for money for my last encounter with a hot dude. 🙂  Kidding. Sort of. So that is the good news.

EDITED: I forgot to mention Suzie Dittman mostly because I don’t know for sure if we will see her. If the defense was not successful in getting her out, then we MIGHT have two witnesses on Thursday. Don’t forget, I am going on sources just like everyone else and haven’t heard either way on her yet.

This isn't going the way I planned! No jury is supposed to convict me!
This isn’t going the way I planned! No jury is supposed to convict me!

The bad news is exactly what I told you guys on Tuesday. The defense got their surrebuttal. Even worse is that apparently Dr. Geffner is so very busy with his expert witnessing (which often gets thrown out by the judge anyway) that he can’t possibly get here until Wednesday so there will be no court until then. In the down time the attorneys will fight tooth and nail over the jury instructions which I doubt we will get to watch in open court. I’m also resolute in my feeling that they will get their manslaughter option included. Although, Jodi seems really unhappy about something. Wednesday was a weird day for the defense. I am still not sure what happened at the end of the day. I suppose they will do the jury draw on Friday. I am hoping #12 and #4 go. Can you imagine how much it would suck not to be chosen to deliberate? I hope we hear from all of the non-selected jurors next weekend but they may decide not to interview until after the verdict.

Don’t go anywhere during the down time. I have several great trial blogs up my sleeve for the long weekend!  Also NO GENTLE REMINDERS FOR THURSDAY! Since we only have one (hot) witness left… y’all can just go wild with the meanesss, personal attacks and general craziness. It’s time to blow off some steam up in here! WELCOME to the huge influx of new folks. Not to toot my own horn, but I have a ton of great posts and even better comments that you can find here. I hope you will view this one especially! I am sort of obsessed with the jury!

Let the free for all begin!

im glad Dr Horn will get back up to help clear our confusion over what happened. The jurors not selected are not released but will sit on sidelines in case they are needed.

Court.ended so abruptly yesterday after Flores testimony. Are we sure about this video Travis was watching. I don’t care what he was watching but I don’t want Flores to say he knew what it was if he hadn’t seen it. Defendant seemed to be doing a lot of whispering to her attorneys during that time.

I’m watching a guy from the National Enquirer talk about Jodi telling her friend she was pregnant and lost it, and that Travis was cold about it. Then they talked about the Psycho game in the shower bs. It all seems like crap to me, stuff released at the last second hoping jurors will hear it.

Well…. as the great Juan would start…those pics of TA in the shower side by with Janet Leigh in Psycho were horrifying and I will bet the work of that she CUR, JA. Everything she says is based on her twisted, inhumaness. As for the miscarriage there is NO WAY she wouldn’t have milked that for all it’s worth if it really happened. I mean no one on HLN talks about the fact that she recorded her and Travis even including cues to TA to restate particularly damning statement’s like “you moan like a 12year old..” Thank GOD I can come to this site because listening to Jane VLEZ reminds me of putting on underwear that my mom forgot to put through the wash and the detergent was still in them. I saw those pics of TA in similar poses as Janet Leigh in Psycho for the first time last night. Chilling! It’s almost beyond belief that she could have staged the whole scene to re-enact the stabbing in the movie. If she did, she is a true psychopath. Could she have forced him to do it under gunpoint?

The unselected alternate jurors can’t give interviews until after a verdict. They might be needed if a deliberating juror is excused for any reason. Then they start deliberating all over again with an alternate.

Radaronline is saying that Wilmott has been receiving death threats. I get the feeling this has been happening for a while, since they’ve closed the investigation of a threatening voice mail has already been closed, but my question is: why put this information out there now?? Close to the end of the trial, clearly losing, and wanting to get sympathy?
    Makes no sense to me.

Reminds me: Wasn’t prosecution expert Demarte’s apartment broken into & laptop stolen? I think cops were called & the situation investigated, but have no idea re: the status of the investigation? Difficult to judge the veracity of death threat allegations. I might need to hold my cynicism in check because my knee-jerk is to say that death threat allegations seem a card, frequently played these days (as Elissa says, when chips are down?) BUT, MAYBE, it’s that honest-to-god death threats have actually increased in frequency, having become the modern coward’s sick gesture of choice. Difficult to know. Worrisome either way?

Whew I thought I was the only one with an unhealthy obsession over a Medical Examiner. Dr. Hottie Horn literally should put the nail in Jodi’s coffin. I imagine he is going to rebutt how Jodi claims she shot him where she had both hands on the gun pointed straight out and T was charging her and had her waist. He needs to bring a dummy head in with a stick going through the entry and exit wounds and you would see Travis would have had to almost be backing up sideways 90-180 degrees for her story to work. (Let alone the casing would have flown out to the right and probably into the tub as opposed to where it fell in her actual location…)

There was testimony and autopsy photos re: the gunshot wound . Discussion about trajectory, bleeding and could Travis move or walk if shot first. Jodi hid her face behind curtain of hair, cried and at one point her shoulders were shaking. Travis’s sisters looked away. Shots of Jodi’s granny showed her stoically looking forward. She had to be thinking that this was the gun that belonged to er husband. I think Jodi is really crying – is it because her granny is present? is she in this one moment ashamed?

From what I see right now on hln, I don’t think she’s actually crying at all. At one point (during cross when talking abt brain consistency), she puts a finger to the corner of her eye under her glasses. What one might do when having an itchy eye. If she were ACTIALLY crying, her finger would be slip-sliding from the tears. Hilarious when M.E said “it’s simple geometry… There were 2 bullet holes in the brain. There’s a brain inbetween. It went thru the brain”. Nurmi even looked like he thought that was funny too. Funny meaning, his comments were essentially saying ‘DUH! You can’t discredit this FACT!’

Willmott was up to her usual tricks taking bits and pieces of testimony out of context, but it wasn’t too helpful.

Juan accomplished his purpose with the testimony…and the juror questions agreed…gunshot could NOT have been first….

Willmott is a gun expert and doesn’t think a 25mm bullet would cause much damage to the head……it’s just a little gun.

Posted wrong place, right time. Usually I’m right place, wrong time… read late everywhere I go. JA is a mess today. Since the trial began, Dr. Drew has said that she only cries when she is cornered and begins to feel panic. The medical examiner has basically stated that JA’s whole death story is a LIE. I know, who would have thought it? The grandmother is there again today. I’m like you, TT, she appears to understand the full gravity of what JA has done. I have only 1 granddaughter and my brain will not allow me to even picture her in this situation. The biggest evidence to me is that if TA had been shot 1st, he could not have gotten defensive wounds on his hands. You may have just bought the farm with this testimony, JA.

Dr Horn does not recall any conversation with det. Flores about the gun shot wound after the autopsy. He does not recall saying the brain was liquefied. Yes he did not see any damage in the section of brain he was able to slice but it’s because of decomposition. Jennifer asks that he then cannot say for sure what the path of the bullet was. He replies that it’s simple geometry.
Moving on, yes, one of the stab wound is indicative with an upward stab. Missed the location of the wound

I think so too but she asked it wrong. Also, I thought the timing of that question actually worked for the prosecution. Dr Horn had just testified that the gunshot wound would have been incapacitating, then Jen W. brings up that Jodi had to stab up since she is shorter than him. Therefore if they’re standing after what is supposed to be an incapacitating wound, then she couldn’t have shot him first would be the next train of thought.

Willmott and Nurmi took the case. When it was first assigned to Nurmi, he tried to get out of it. In fact he QUIT the Public Defender’s Office and started his own private practice so he wouldn’t be obligated to defend JA. However since he had accepted it, the court said YES YOU WILL and he has been stuck ever since.

Willmott was also second or third choice as secondary, but she jumped at the chance.

I certainly think that JA deserves a defense, but she could have been defended by some attorneys with dignity. Neither of these people did so. I was guilty of calling them nicknames and making fun of them – after what Miss Tamara wrote earlier this week and today – I didn’t want to come to her house and break her rules, so I haven’t been posting this week. I truly though I was just making the blog a bit lighter or adding some humor.. If I offended you, Miss Tamara, or any of the other readers here, I apologize.

But Willmott and Nurmi remind me of the lawyer in this case from an old movie I saw:

    Will you defend me?

    Sure what’s the charge?

I’m accused of stealing a truckload of hams.

All right. There will be a $50 retainer fee.

Okay, I’ll have it next week.

    Next week?

Sure – first I gotta sell the hams.

    Okay…..

I do feel somewhat sorry for Nurmi. He may not have had an easy time of it as a child, but they say living well is the best revenge. He becomes a lawyer and those classmates who made fun of him growing up (making all kinds of assumptions here), are probably pumping gas and waiting on tables (I realize the irony).

Nurmi seems so dejected in having to wade through all this crap over and over again on Jodi’s behalf. But he has to at least try because otherwise La Arias could say she was convicted (here’s hoping!) because of ineffectual counsel, and the freak show could start all over again if she appeals and wins the appeal. I’m sure Nurmi can’t wait for this fiasco to be over with and never see JA again unless it’s on a gurney before the injection

On the other hand, Wilma’s histrionic screeching and BFF chats with JA drive me nuts..

After hearing the ME, I have a theory. Jodi shot him first, and while he was incapable of much movement she started slashing him. Remember, this woman “planned” a lot of what she did days before. She made it look like an attack, possibly by Ninjas (her first story), moving the body around to make it look like he was trying to escape from his attackers. When she finally admitted to killing him, she then made up the story about the camera and him attacking her. But if he couldn’t move, he could have not have attacked her. Sounds plausible to me. Game over Jodi!

I think the photos and the ex girlfriend testimony serves as a reminder that a man who had family and loved ones was murdered and died a horrific death. It has been easy in this trial to get sidetracked and caught up in the circus.

Except she couldn’t make him stand up a spew fine bloody mist from his lungs while hanging on to the sink.. This is where I think she started the knife attack on his back. The blood spatter tells a story.

Oh, right! Okay, she shot him outside the shower, maybe he was trying to get his camera which she dropped on the floor – wasn’t it near the sink. He’s bent over reaching for his camera, she shoots him, he tries to stand up, coughs up blood in the sink and she starts slashing.

The problem I have with the “shot first” theory is that 1.) Jodi said so and b.) after the shot to the head, Jodi has Travis doing all sorts of gymnastics in and out of rooms, closets, hallways… If someone shot you in the cranium, what would you be capable of doing?

@ Sandra – you’re right. She had no defensive wounds, so she had to attack him from the back. Her first blow had to be severe enough and damage enough that she could finish him off. Wow, this is complicated.

I like your theory but after bending over from shot wound she did not think he would stand. he gets up to move she stabs him in chest where he keeps moving toward sink to get away stabs in chest coughs up blood in sink, then back wounds now he heads down still trying to get away but hall collapses and she finishes him off.

All the while he is DYING she stabbing him because he still has will to live but it’s deadly. Any way you cut it he suffered. She did it ….with only the knick to her finger. Remember she did clean up some after. However she did it ….he suffered even if you accept her DV claim this was brutal and WRONG. She could of left the house or NOT come over to begin with.

defensive wounds on his hands make that impossible…they were not just cuts from slashing she was doing, they were in spots that are clear defensive wounds which means he was mobile enough to move his arms and hands to try and grab the knife.

That doesn’t solve the prob that the wound does not match the story that jodi finally came up with. The trajectory was wrong. Supposedly he has crouched and lunged at her fullback style (sorry don’t know my football terms) and the gun accidentally went off. I don’t think that works. I may be wrong. There have been so many stories…..

I was impressed with his statement to Willmont. To paraphrase – If the bullet enters on one side of the head and ends up on the other side…. and if the brain is in the middle.. the brain was damaged. IF the bullet passed through the brain, Travis would not have been able to do the things Ms. Arias said he did.

If he was shot first as he was lunging at her like a linebacker, if she was pointing gun towards TA, then shot would have been front to back.

Only way trajectory from temple to cheek was if he was already down and JA standing over him Remember, no gunpowder residue or stippling from a close range shot which would be evident in linebacker story since he was grabbing her waist.

She would have had the gun turned around towards her, if TA had grabbed her, to get the trajectory shown in autopsy, AND there would have been evidence of close-range shot.

Also, for the bullet to stay lodged in the cheek, the force of the shot would have been almost spent, no matter what caliber, otherwise there would have been an exit wound. Given the fact that it was .25 caliber and shot from a distance of at least two feet, the bullet didn’t have enough force left to exit the head.

This gunshot wound has been the enduring mystery of this case for me. Jodi’s story (ie: the gunshot being first) must be dismissed for a myriad of reasons. One, as Sandra so rightly points out above, there was no stippling or gunshot residue in/near the wound (this would put Jodi approx. 6 feet or more away at the time of the shot). Two, the angle of the wound is not complementary to her story – that she was positioned in a shooting stance and Travis lunged for her. Three (and most importantly), there is the infamous bullet casing on top of the blood.
However, like Tamara, I am not quite sure when the shot occurred. Was it a shot to make sure he was, in fact, dead? If so, why did she shoot from so far away, and at such a strange angle? Clearly, a significant amount of blood had been spilled before the shot (hence, the casing on top of the blood), but could she have started to stab him, stopped, got the gun and shot him, thus leaving him incapacitated and her free to stab him as many times as she liked? So much will never be known.

The purpose of the final questions from the defense to the MA was to show that Jodi couldn’t have shot him last, since, if he was laying down the bullet trajectory would have been front to back, not transverse.

What I don’t understand, why didn’t the Defense bring in thier own Forensic and ME to dispute the Prosecutors witness? If they are so sure she shot first, and in self defense, why were they afraid to put them on them stand. They surely have enough expert witnesses to claim abuse ??? My bet is they could not find someone that would get up there and lie for Jodi and put thier career on the line like the other 2 quacks they paid.
And the expert they are putting up there on Wed. has already pretty much ruined his career in other cases, so he is along for the $300 an hour he can get.

Defense would have had their own ME examine TA and do their own second autopsy, or re-interpret the original autopsy report. It is very likely that the defense did try to get a “second opinion”, but perhaps their own examiner came up with the same conclusions and could not dispute the original findings. Then all the defense had left was JA’s version of events and they had to fit that into the results of the report, and to question the ME’s findings (to no avail).

I believe Travis was trapped – sitting in that VERY confined space, wet and relaxed. I was sort of stuck sitting down on the floor of small shower the night we had a death in the family and I was so distraught it just closed in on me. It’s a weird, helpless but towering feeling. Jodi probably started to scream @ him about the trip or something to put HIM into fight or flight mode… but I’m convinced she plunged the knife into his heart or chest 1st. He was trapped in there – He had to grab the knife… to get OUT !! ~ There are the 2 large wounds @ upper chest area – and the sternum stab that went through his lung, vena cava (heart sack / artery) would have filled with blood causing him to “freak out” and get to the sink choking and aspirating. – Then she started the back stabbing !!! and so forth… I think the gun had to happen at any point to indicate self-defense. ~ Found myself crying in front of TV with TA’s family today. Heart breaking over and over. Oh ~ this is so horrible discussing somebodies loved one like this – “Whew !” :.-(

Was the roommate not there that much during that time? Or, potentially, and not out of the realm of possibility, perhaps the roommate’s sense of smell is impaired? As one lighter example, one of my friends loves buying candles at garage/yard sales, but her sense of smell is not good, she will always have me perform the scent test. Sandra, what do you think?

Well, not ever having lived through a hot June in AZ, i hesitate to ponder how bad the smell might have been. But I would assume that the house would have air conditioning, which may have mitigated the smell somewhat. I also recall testimony that TA’s bedroom was locked, and perhaps the door to the bathroom was also closed. But it did seem odd to me that the room mates were in and out of the house all that time until the body was discovered on Monday, so about 5 days. When Mimi and friends showed up on Monday evening, they thought the smell was because of the dog. Didn’t they find one of the room mates at home at that time? The room mates had thought that TA was in Cancun, so didn’t think to enter the locked bedroom, until Mimi et al showed up.

Sandra is right – one of the roommates was in his bedroom with his girlfriend when Mimi & friends came over to try to get into the house to find Travis. The home was shared by Travis and his roommates (although they were not friends and acted more in a tenant/landlord relationship with Travis). It seems each person in the house had their own room, with Travis taking the upstairs level – the master suite. Jodi had placed the doggie fence on the bottom of the stairs (leading the roommates to mistakenly believe that Travis had already left for Cancun.) Also, she locked the double door to the master suite before she left. It wasn’t until Mimi & friends came to investigate that the door was actually opened. Until that point, the smell was probably minimal.
If you all haven’t already, I highly recommend that you guys read Det. Flores’ original report. It is illuminating, to say the least. It is remarkable how quickly (within minutes of discovering the body) that friends pointed Det. Flores in the direction of Jodi. You can find the report at WildAboutTrial.com, among other places…

We have to remember. Travis’ house was either 4200 or 4500 square feet. That is pretty big so the smell wasn’t contained in a small space.

They probably did have the air conditioning blowing at full blast for the dog. Even with that said, the smell clearly got into the air ducts – his friends smelled (something), immediately upon entering. It was probably a combination of dog poop and decomp. With my sensitive nose, I would have quickly checked it out and eliminated the smell right away. I don’t know how long the room mates were there, but, I’ll bet they felt bad… at least until they found out he was dead before Jodi even left the house.

Summertime in Arizona – the temp was at least 100. This is April and will be 97 to 102 this week. Thank God for a/c.

She asked the questions, asked if there were more, and then said I need to see council in chambers. First thing she said when they returned, Juror # 8 has been excused. . Tells me it was the question, he must have show something like his mind was made up, who knows? I re-listened to those questions and didn’t hear anything that could remotely be linked to media coverage, but who knows? I am also guessing if there had been that type of question, it would have been disallowed, and THEN the judge would have asked all the jurors, “who wrote this one?” and then get the boot. It was interesting that after the judge announced to all and sundry that No. 8 had been excused, her next question to the jury was, and I’m paraphrasing here, “has anyone been approached or talked to the media” and the usual admonition about media coverage.

I live in S. Oregon a stones through away from Yreka. I started watching the trial because of the local connections. Anyway I have heard some stories about Jodi when she worked at a local restaurant and was fired for relentlessly pursuing a married manager.

It makes me wonder if we (the public) will hear plenty of derogatory feedback about Arias from other individuals “after” the trial ends. I suspect there are many who don’t want to come forward now due to the social media frenzy, etc.

Tata4now, that goes to what I thought was a misleading statement on Wilmott’s part. She repeated to DeMarte that Jodi only had 4 boyfriends.. but common sense and things we have heard tell us that she may have only had four men who were long term, yet she pursued countless others. She may have only convinced four to see her as a gf, but she was constantly chasing after men, during, and in between each relationship. Last night on Dr. Drew there was a man she went on a date with and engaged in heavy groping on his car roof…a month after she was baptized at Travis’s church. Dr. Drew joked that he had really “dodged a bullet”, and I think there are many other men out there that did also.

I’m sure after the trial is over we will hear more. I think she had several men going at once.

I just heard about this a couple weeks ago and what stuck me is that this happened when she was dating Matt. Then she moved to Bid Sur and dates Darrel who was a manager at the restaurant. It totally fits her pattern and the timeline matched up.

According to my source Jodi was not subtle in her pursuit of a guy and continually hit on this man after he told her no he was married and not interested.

I’m wondering why the defence hasn’t brought in their own pathologist to rebut Dr. Horn. That would make more sense to me than bringing in another quack to rebut Dr. DeMarte. Of course, their theory is Battered Woman Syndrome and self defence – but don’t most Murder 1 cases have duelling pathologists? To me it’s critical to the Prosecution’s theory that the multiple stab wounds came first, and it is critical to the Defence that the gunshot came first. I guess no reputable pathologist could be found/bought – not even Dr. Baden, who testified for OJ! 🙂

Welp my wifey said the same thing to me last night and then it dawned on us that maybe there is NO OTHER ME willing to testify for love or money. Wouldn’t that be wonderful. “Sorry” KN, JA and JWill “No can do.”

The State had a boatload of forensic evidence that the defense never even tried to refute with their own expert witnesses. They were pretty much married to the “dirty little secret”/battered woman/PTSD defense and that was what they went with. kh

That may prove to be a major downfall for the defence. I hope the Jury considers the lack of refutation of the forensics. Considering the defendant they were forced to represent, they had no other choice but to spin the tale Arias told them. Unlike Arias, the forensics don’t lie.

When I first started to follow this trial and before I had heard there was question of whether the gunshot came first, this is how I assumed it happened. She planned to kill him of course. She went there, planned to play with him like a cat plays with his prey before he goes in for the kill. I even think she planned to kill him in the shower. Remember how she said she had to convince him to take those pictures in the shower. She thought she could get him in a vulnerable spot and kill him and there would be no mess. Little did she expect him to be able to fight back like he did and cause such a messy scene. I think there’s a possibility she even hid the gun in the closet when she got there. She seems to weave truths in with all her lies. Therefore that’s why she says the gun was in the closet. No way was that gun in the house before she got there. Anyway, I think he was in the shower, she stabbed him in chest, he fought back, he stumbled to the sink coughing up blood. Not sure how she did the rest but somehow he got down the hall and she slit his throat at the entrance to the bedroom. She dragged him back, stuffed him in the shower and then got the gun and shot him in the head. She is so evil and I hope someone is able to wipe that smirk off her face.

Bevery ~ I also think that he was stabbed first while he was in the shower where he was highly vulnerable. That was planned. I feel that he was stabbed in the back there is a (cluster of knife wounds that are in the photos)when he turned she stabbed him in the front. He still had life, managed to get out of the shower. One of the photos show Travis with his back facing the shower door and his hands on the shower wall. Diabolical Jodi it seems, was telling Travis to “pose” for the camera. Recent storylines from the Enquirer stated the Jodi said that Travis “enjoyed” the Psycho movie shower killing scene. No, it was Jodi, not Travis who got off on that scene. Her mind never stops and intertwines everything (reality/nonreality) together to meet her needs.

Does this new Dr. have any skeletons in his closet that Juan can cross him with?

Yes, a ton of skeltons. His expert testimony has been thrown out of court, he works with LaViolette, he has a whole host of very public issues. Juan can have a field day with this one.

There is no way the gunshot happened first…. the ME said that there was no sign of bleeding in that area.

His throat was cut first and he bled out completely before the gunshot…. that’s why there is no bleeding in the gunshot area.

      I agree Daver,

And ppl are saying why would she get into a knife fight with him since he is so much bigger, and why did she bring a gun if she intended to use a knife.

I say if she shot him first she would have kept shooting him until he died. She wanted him to suffer in the worst way by stabbing him, and she brought the gun to finish him off. I think.
