First of all, I want to apologize to my beloved regular readers. Not to imply that there is anything regular at all about you folks, but you may have noticed we have a lot of guests her for the Jodi Arias posts. I totally promise to get back to debating the state of Phaedra’s marriage, and trying in vain to break up with Andy Cohen very soon. If it makes you feel any better this whole trial has the potential to implode at any moment! Patience, my friends. We are just at a rare exciting part. I’ll be back to Jodi Arias one-a-days very soon. XOXO
Now as for you new folks here for the trial banter, welcome! Once this is over, I hope you will stick around and share in our fascinating discussions about reality TV! Stop groaning, we have plenty of lawsuits to discuss, like Stilettogate , an old-fashioned battery case involving a stiletto to the forehead, and hey, I am actually embroiled in my own legal drama at the moment which explains the “legal defense” button at the left. It seems a fired Atlanta housewives has more time than sense these days. This week I have not one but two ridiculous hearings to show up for! There is never a dull moment around here so stick around.
Now on to the jury. Back when the Casey Anthony case was going on, one of my favorite parts of watching was the jury selection. If you are like me you keep wondering what the 18 (now 16) people in the box look like. Someone sent me this list from Websleuths which is a great site for info on criminal cases. In the huge cases, there is so much info that I can’t wade through it all to find what I am looking for, so I was thrilled to received a list of juror descriptions. Let’s talk about them. If anyone knows the names of the authors, please let me know and I will edit them in with much appreciation. Let’s see who the jurors are!
Websleuthers observations are in black (there were two different observers apparently) My commentary in purple. Editing to add in HLN version in blue. Editing again because I already posted another persons observations once. She is A local trial watcher, Sandra Huskey-Matthews. I’ll list hers in green. It’s amazing how many times I google for info and find a very detailed report I forgot I wrote. My memory is shot. Jodi was on the stand during the green commentary and Juan was doing his cross.
Seating Chart (Back row likes to switch around in the middle, Front stays the same)

Juror #1 (Dana) Church Lady- Mid 50′s, short hair, no make-up, glasses. This lady looks absolutely disgusted the whole time. I never once saw her look in the direction of JA. Not ONCE. She either stares straight forward or looks at JM.
She is a white female in her 60s and sits closest to the witness stand. She doesn’t look at Arias often during her testimony. People in the gallery observed her yawning once during an emotional part of Arias’ testimony.
60′s ? short grey hair. Looks like a grandma or teacher. Closest to Jodi Leaned forward and was writing when Mug shot explanation was on 48 hours. Again leaned forward during the “Innocent of THAT charge” statement. Many people have said this is the one who seems to be agreeing with Jodi. I didn’t pick up on that. She does nod a lot, but more in an “I see where this is going” kind of way. Often has a look on her face, that I can only describe as the look you wouldn’t want to see on your grandma. She does look at Jodi most of the time, and writes most of the time.
I hope we keep this one. Sounds very pro prosecution (Look at me and my Laviolette type extrapolations based on a very short description! Feel free to argue with me in comments. Everyone does it!:) ) My guess is she is one of the jurors asking the questions we like.
Juror #2 Trump-Guy in 40′s, lots of hair, car salesman look. I called this guy “Comb Over” he had his head resting on his hand almost the whole time. He also never looks at JA. He seemed to be paying attention, but also seemed bored.
He is a white male in his 50s. He takes few notes and usually has his head cupped in his hands as he listens to testimony.
50 ish I did not see after he sat down.
I’m on the fence with this guy. I’m going to look at the positives about being a car salesman and cling to the old adage, “You can’t bullshit a bullshitter” and hope he decided to fry her a few hours into testimony and is just enduring the rest of it to sign off on a death penalty recommendation at the end. He’s probably fine. #2 and #9 Left to go to the coke machine together. Two attentive guys with gruff dispositions.
Juror #3 (Gladys)Housewife-She is a big lady (tall and heavy set, not obese) with a very sweet face, no make-up. Interesting different view today. I called her the “Angry Neighbor Lady” Lol. I wrote that she follows along, but has a constant “sour puss”. I don’t know if it’s just “her look” or what, but she seemed to be frowning every time I looked at her.
She is a white female in her 40s. She takes a lot of notes and often watches prosecutor Juan Martinez as he moves around the courtroom. She has been seen submitting questions.
40ishOnly time I saw her was when she leaned forward and was writing during the Why Jodi moved to AZ testimony.
I like her. I’m sure everyone started out sweet. Her mind is made up, she’s sick of the glacial pace of this trial and she is ready to vote guilty. Trust me. I know the mindset of Angry Neighbor Lady. Don’t ask me how. She is probably writing snarky juror questions. EDITED SINCE ADDING HLN COMMENTS: SEE! I TOLD YOU I LIKED HER!
Juror #4 Grandpa-Bald, sweet faced older man that looks like my grandpa. I also named this man Grandpa. He does have a sweet face and seems the “calm” type.
No offense, Grandpa, but I hope you don’t make the cut. You are an unknown. You might be great, but I just don’t know.
60ish Watching Juan when talking of the whole “stalking” Bobby/Travis thing Writing and leaning forward while during the Why she moved to AZ testimony. At BMW testimony flipped a page while writing. Writing all during the 48hours/Mugshot explanation. Leaned forward when she said she was “innocent of THAT charge”
He is a white male in his 60s, and he takes few notes.
Juror #5 EJECTED FOR MISCONDUCT Tricolor-Early 30′s, short, stylish haircut with three colors, reminds me of one of my hairstylists. This is the only one I remembered Anita’s name for because her hair stood out, Lol. She reminded me of my best friend. She probably gave more facial expressions than any of the others. She is very engaged and took a fair amount of notes.
She is a married, white female in her 30s. She sits on the edge of her seat and is the most visible juror from the gallery because she has a “unique hair style.”
25 or 30 ish? two toned hair, light blonde on top, brown under the blonde. This is who I believed to be the most attentive Juror. Watched Jodi intently when she was talking about what sex she liked. Shook her head slightly when the mugshot came up on screen. When Jodi talked about using the BMW to drive sister missionaries, this juror was looking at her with a look that made me think of a mom who was watching a child who was lying. Almost an embarrassed look with “pursed” lips and slight head shake. Tracking between Juan and Nurmi during 48 hours clips, writing a lot during Jodi’s explanations. Nodding when the testimony was about Jodi falling asleep on the “lovesack” when he was out with Mimi. Nodding with a “here we go again” look on her face. I swear she almost rolled her eyes. Writing frantically.
Oh Juror 5, I don’t know what you did, but thanks for giving us something to talk (there is a link here) about during a long stretch of boring. See you on HLN! P.S. I think you are a little old for pink hair, but you do you.
Juror #6 (Nancy)-Lady in her 50′s, lovely face, reminds me of Nancy Reagan with glasses, short sassy haircut. I called her Spikey Hair. Anita’s description is better. She was the only one I saw look at Jodi when the jury first walked in. She took a lot of notes.
She is a white female in her 60s and is also seen taking many notes.
40ish Only thing I wrote about her is she leaned forward during the testimony of why Jodi moved to Arizona, and was writing at this time. I also saw her most of the time, but don’t have anything else written.
Would Nancy Reagan give someone the needle? Oh yeah she would. And she would look her in the eye during the whole thing. Maybe.
I don’t care if we lose this one. Wait! If she takes lots of notes she’s a keeper. LOL one says 40s one says 50s one says 60s.
Juror #7 Paul Rudd-Younger guy, mid-late 20′s with spiky hair, sweat jacket, looks like the actor Paul Rudd. He does look like Paul Rudd, but with shorter hair. He’s a good looking young man.
He is a white male in his 30s, and he is married. He takes notes and often bites his nails.
Older 20′s ? younger 30′s maybe. Put hand over his mouth when “why she moved to Mesa” testimony and about grandma. Looked almost frightened at the “stalking ” Bobby and Travis things. Leaning forward and writing during most things about her pursuing different guys, after she was broken up with them. Also had what I could only call a “are you sh*tting me” look when Jodi said that about she hadn’t looked in a sliding door, it was a window.
I’m guessing this guy was a defense pick. Doesn’t ask questions. I bet he loves all the sex talk and nude pictures. Probably will go with the pack. But who knows. Let’s hope he goes. OOOH I was wrong he is pro prosecution! Hell I think everyone is!
Juror #8 DISMISSED ON 4/25 The CEO-Good looking man, mid 50′s with goatee. Can see him being the jury foreman. I called this guy “The Dad”. He looks nothing like my dad, Lol, but for whatever reason… I got a fatherly feel from him.
He is a white male in his 50s and is married. He also takes notes and has been observed submitting questions.
40ish writing a lot when the “pursuing Bobby” and why she moved to Mesa Interestingly I have little written about him, though I remember having a good line of site
Meh. I hope he is more CEO that “The Dad” I’d keep him if I had to, but would not be sorry to see him go. I do not want him to be the foreman.
Juror #9 Willy-Old hippy with long white ponytail, thin, small build. This guy looked PIZZED the whole time. He seemed to be staring towards the media lady or just into the corner. I only saw him look at JM or JA maybe once.
He is a white male in his 60s. He wears denim on most days and sits at the end of the jury box. He sits close to the first row of the gallery where Alexander’s family sits.
50ish, long silver pony tail, jeans -To me seemed to be the 2nd most attentive juror overall. Writing when testimony about how Matt wouldn’t betray her. Paying close attention. Paying close attention and writing when talking of sex jodi didn’t mind. Paying close attention on the mugshot/48 hours testimony, writing. When Jodi said she didn’t see Travis and the woman through a sliding glass door, but it was a window, this juror started flipping back in his notebook as if looking for something he wrote before. Was slightly shaking his head in a “no” reaction. Writing alot, turning pages a lot all throughout.
I like angry people for the prosecution. Let’s fry her and all god home. Works for me. #2 and #9 Left to go to the coke machine together during Tuesday deliberations. Two attentive guys with gruff dispositions.
ALTERNATE Juror #10 Barb-Female, 40′s, has the “sexy librarian” look, wearing a form fitting sweater, slender build and voluptuous. If ANYONE on the jury is offended by disparaging comments regarding breast augmentation, my guess is it would be her. She is the only juror I couldn’t see very clearly; just when she entered and exited the courtroom and when I stretched up out of my seat to gawk at her. I called this lady “Plain Jane” She was very hard to see from where I was, but I could tell she was taking notes quite a bit.
She is a white female in her 40s. She is an occasional note taker and she often looks at the gallery during sidebars.
(couldn’t really see her)
Perhaps the only person on the stand who might get the D/s sexual aspects of this case. Probably will not enlighten the jury on specifics but may point out that a consensual sexual relationship involving power exchange is not domestic violence. Or, um, so I hear. Let’s keep her.
Juror #11 GOT SICK AND DROPPED OUT Poquito-Little Mexican guy (maybe 5’3) with long graduated pony tail, lots of facial hair and piercings. I called him “Paco” He was hard to see too, but mostly because he was slouched down in his seat I thought he’d fall off Lol. At one point he was bent over instead of slouching, but still very hard to see.
He is a Hispanic male in his late 20s to early 30s. He dresses casually and sometimes slouches so far down in his chair that he is hardly visible to the gallery. He does not appear to be taking notes.
25 ish? Long black hair, braided or pony tail . Looked Native American by the hair. (The hair reminded me of someone I know, that is why I say that. ) I could only see his body and arms most of the time, not his face. Leaned forward alot off and on the whole time, writing most of the time.
Adios Poquito, I suspect you were just sick to death of the trial. I’ve heard you described as fidgety. I get it, dude. Really. No hard feelings.
Juror #12 Neil-Early 50′s high forehead, glasses, looks very nervous and turns red easily. This is the guy that makes KCL nervous. I called this guy “Jim” I wrote “very hard to read”.
He is a white male in his 40s.
40′s T-shirt with a green cordaroy or flannel shirt/jacket over that, glasses – my opinion 3rd most attentive Juror. Paid close attention Tracking Juan and Jodi, along with most of the front row, when testimony about why she moved to AZ, was leaning forward and taking notes. Paying close attention when testimony of Jodi leaving school as a junior and moving in with Bobby, and also when testimony about her moving around a lot. Looked to be listening and writing during most of the trial.
I’m okay with Neil. But if we have to lose 4 more, I reckon he would not be a bad choice. If he stays, I think he will be fine.
Juror #13 The Wrestler-Younger good looking guy, large build. I called this guy “The Jock” He reminded me a little of Oz on American Pie (Chris Klein).
He is a white male in his late 20s or early 30s. He appears to be the youngest member of the jury and takes very few notes. He smiled when Martinez asked Arias if she could predict the future.
high 20′s ? Low 30′s? Flannel Checkered shirt, stubble I only saw him when lady in front of me kinda scooted over Watching intently when talking about how Jodi pursued Bobby, when she called him and he hung up and she called back. Shook head when Jodi said it could have been a phone malfunction. Flipped pages twice while writing in his notebook during this time.
You know this guy, if he really has ever wrestled is thinking that the only way this guy could have been brutally murdered by a small female is through stealth attack. He will be wondering why she had no defensive wounds or injuries more serious than a wonky finger. Let’s keep the jock.
Juror #14 Old potsmoking CPA (I have no idea why I wrote this, i have ZERO recollection of this juror. He did not make any impression on me, other than when I was going down the rows naming them.) I called this guy Sleepy. He swiveled in his chair a lot and fell asleep at least twice. He was also slouched down in his chair.
He is a white male in his early 60s who often swivels in his chair. He does not appear to be taking notes
50ish I could not see him after he sat down
There is a good chance that this guy goes along to get along in the jury room. I think the majority if not the entirety of the jury is headed for first degree murder. But is a good chance enough? He could easily be too laid back for the DP despite being “death penalty qualified.” I’ll decide on him later.
ALTERNATE! Juror #15 Elderly Man-This man is definitely the oldest juror, he occasionally uses the headphones to listen to the proceedings that Jodie’s Auntie uses. I called him “Captain” He has a very intense gaze. It’s hard to describe but he gives off a stubborn and no bs vibe. Maybe ex military or something?
He is a white male in his late 60s to early 70s. He wears an audio-enhancing headset provided by the court. He does takes notes.
(couldn’t really see him)
I like him. He spoke up during trial about his headset not working. No BS is a good thing. He’s a keeper. Hang in there old man.
Juror #16 (Jolene)
Maureen-Red haired, glasses (the red might be too red to be a natural ginger) If I had to guess one Mormon on the jury, it would be her. I called her The Secretary. She took a lot of notes and had a “polished” look to her. She had her whole body turned facing Jodi. I barely saw her look at JM. She was the only one that really made me feel nervous at all.
She is a white female in her 40s and also takes lots of notes. She swiveled her chair toward Arias during her testimony.
30ish – I could not see her very often I noticed her flipping a page when Jodi agreed it was her fault she got grounded.
She’s in! Notetakers write jury questions. Lots of them. Have you seen a bad question yet? Gotta disagree with the courtroom observer here. I’d keep her. I want to rename this juror… Jolene, Jolene, Juror #16
I had to have this talk with you
My happiness depends on you
And whatever you decide to do, Jolene…
ALTERNATE Juror #17 Pony Tail-Young girl, pony tail, plain, pony tail and sweats. I called her frumpy lady. Not in a rude way… it’s just the word that came to mind. Very plain. She took a lot of notes.
She is a married, white female in her 30s. She takes a lot of notes. She does not look at Arias during testimony. She tends to look straight ahead or down at her notes.
30ish -I could not see her very often. Nodding and writing when Juan got Jodi to admit it was her who got in trouble and ultimately her fault that she got grounded.
She’s a keeper too. See #16.
Juror #18 The Artist-Bald, attractive, glasses, 50′s-60′s, large build, holds his notebook on a binder as if he’s going to sketch. He looks around the gallery a lot. I thought we met eyes a couple of times, but who knows, that room is so huge! This guy also had a very intense gaze. He took some notes. He rubbed his face and tapped his fingers to his lips a lot. He wasn’t the only one doing stuff like that, but I’ll get into that in my notes.
He is a white male in his 70s and is married. He has a tattoo on his right arm. He rarely is seen taking notes. He sits the furthest away from the witness.
50ish balding Looked puzzled when Juan was mentioning the sex tape. Kept glancing at Jodi’s family during the FHE discussion.Writing a lot when Mugshot/48 hours explantion. Writing a lot during the whole “innocent of THAT charge” testimony.
Not only do I want to keep him,
I want to date him! Bring him to my mouf! 🙂 Kidding. Sort of. He is a keeper though. I wonder if that binder is full of women? Sorry. Strike that. WAIT WAIT WAIT My juror boyfriend is SEVENTY NOW and MARRIED? That’s a far cry from late 50s which was already quite the age stretch for me but BOTH WEBSLEUTH CHICKS SEEMED INTO HIM. I guess we are broken up already.:( Well. Green description has him back to being 50. How can he be 50s and attract in one and SEVENTY in another?
And that is the list! We have to lose four more. If you could pick, who would you lose? Why? I’d send home Juror #4, Juror #7, Juror #12 and Juror #14. With Juror #14 my number one target.
