Jodi Arias Trial Post for Wednesday: You Can Get Anything You Want At Alyce’s Restaurant (Except a Yes or No Answer…)

April 10, 2013 by tamaratattles 152 Comments

ALYCEWATERMARKEDSomeone just dropped this picture in my email box of Alyce out for some dinner Tuesday night at Pei Wei with Jennifer Willmott and a third woman who may be Maria Dela Rosa, the mitigation specialist. Apparently, she was receiving some last minute advice before jumping back into the frying pan on Wednesday. Perhaps with three the ladies got egg roll? It seems this meeting was ladies only. Make of that what you will. Thanks for the picture anon friend of Tamaratattles!

I am putting up the Wednesday trial post now because I am up late and wide awake. I sort of have my days and nights backwards these days. Trial is set to begin at 9:30 on Wednesday so after Team Nurmi makes his mistrial motion and Alyce takes a few pee breaks we should be going by 10:30 or so their time.

As always we will be busy updating everyone on the major developments and points of outrage in the comments. Everyone is welcome to join right in! If it is your first post, you’ll have to wait until my lazy butt gets out of bed before they show up! Happy trial watching!

Jodi seems to be loving Alyce’s testimony today:

Love the title “You Can Get Anything You Want At Alyce’s Restaurant (Except a Yes or No Answer…). She is so frustrating to watch.

I’ve never wanted to punch someone I don’t personally know so much in my life. She’s beyond frustrating.

Saying..Alyce’s Restaurant comment, too funny. I’m a very patient person, but I am pulling out my hair at this woman…she’s no professional…she’s just awful..professional witnesses answer the questions posed. If they are SECURE in their conclusions….they can always elaborate on re direct. I’m appalled that LaViolette is allowed to behave this way on the stand, making snarky comments to the Prosecutor, continually calling him Mr Martinez, this is a court of law, not a freaking comedy show..and her fan club in the audience is repulsive. Plus all of the head shaking and mouthing words by Wilmott is just so out of line…I just have a really difficult time understanding why the Judge allows this circus atmosphere….and the DEFENSE WANTS A MISTRIAL…THIS is a train wreck…

I sooooo agree with you ZZ. She’s diminishing herself, her education, her field, etc. trying to argue with him. He’s pulled back and she’s charging ahead. She looks like a dumb ass. Gone is the grandmotherly lady. Instead, we have a sword wielding take charge bad ass from the 60’s. She looks stupid. Just answer the damn question, lady. If he would have responded with the same damn snarky comments, court would have been cancelled for the day and Nurmi would be asking for a mistrial this morning. As for this pic, this is what the citizens of Az are paying 1.4 million dollars for. I guarantee those two will bill their dinner & time to the tax payers of Az. Shameful.

You are disgustingly disrespectful. This woman is extremely intelligent and insightful. I have personally had many of the experiences she speaks of and can honestly say she is right on target about everything. You all act like a bunch of headhunters. Jodie killed Travis for a reason. It is obvious nothing was planned out. He was leading a double life and all his money and connections are not going to save his name from that. She shouldn’t have killed him but she did and we need to understand why so people who find themselves victims of men like him can get help before it’s too late.

Ma’am, Jodi planned in finite detail the murder of Travis. Unless your head has been firmly up your ass for the entire trial or you are a relative then you would know that. Alyce Lavilolette opened the door to critisism by LYING for IT. A double life is a man who dresses up like a clown and masturbates while wearing womens under clothes. He was a normal, happy, healthy, sexual HUMAN FUCKING BEING. You madam are a pig and should bury your head in the sand. He NEVER ABUSED JODI, she was the aggressor in EVERY aspect of thier “relationship” (note the sarcasm) They weren’t together, she had her twat hung up on him for 18 months after she dumped him. Get over it, she is a cold blooded bitch and she is going to prison forever, at a minimum. If you were abused, then you know that she was NOT.

Your foul mouth is only exceeded by your lack of brain cells. If you had any background in psychology you would be able to understand the intricacies and dynamics of their relationship better. Take off the rose-colored glasses and look at the facts. Jodi is too smart to bungle a pre-meditated murder. And this was bungled from beginning to end because what ultimately happened was unplanned.

I have noticed that most of the commentators on this blog seem to be anything but critical thinkers. Maybe if you had more life experience you would be able to see further than the end of your nose. At age 64 and many cumulative hours of post-grad work in the psychology field it is relatively easy to spot someone who is an expert in the field. This woman has nailed it on the head. Alyce Laviolette has done a terrific job and the infinitesimal mistakes she has made is nothing more than human error–of which I am sure you have been guilty of once or twice! And I’m sorry but she is the dignified one of the two. Martinez is nothing more than a little Napoleon bully who desperately wants to boost his low self-esteem by sending someone to death row–even though she was also a victim in this situation. What a tragedy that would be.

It is obvious you don’t want to face the facts that Travis caused a lot of his own problems by not being able to keep his peter in his pants. He used his pseudo status to gain power over this woman by denigrating, deriding and dismissing her on a continual basis. She was guilty of nothing more than accommodating him in order to gain his affection. His murder was anything but “planned.” They have pretty much established this fact. It is obvious it was a crime of passion committed by a woman who had been pushed beyond the end of her rope. The reason it was so difficult for Travis’s friends to relate to her was because she thought on a higher plane than they did. She is extremely intelligent, articulate, and talented. Being around his friends was most likely terminally boring to her and it was difficult for her not to show it.

It is quite obvious you are a either one of Travis’s phony friends or a member of his family. Everyone of his friends they have interviewed on TV have come across as phony and/or superficial. As the saying goes, “birds of a feather flock together.”
I, on the other hand, don’t know Jodi from Adam. I am merely a person who looks at the facts and goes with my gut. I am not swayed by public opinion nor am I a cow, sheep or pig just following the herd as most are doing because of their inability to think objectively.

First you say that you don’t know Jodi from Adam, and then you say, “she is extremely intelligent, articulate, and talented. Being around his friends was most likely terminally boring to her and it was difficult for her not to show it…” I’m sorry, but did you know her personally? Were you involved in their personal relationship? You seem disproportionately angry about defending this woman, and it seems like it’s pushing some personal buttons of your own. But just because you have survived a situation of real domestic violence, doesn’t mean every other woman who claims it is sincere, or ever alleged abuser is as awful as they are accused of being. especially when that person is unable to defend himself in court. I don’t know either of them, so I can’t say what they are like as people.

Let’s go by actions and what we know, since you are accusing us of not being critical thinkers. We know that Travis was insulting, rude, called her names and he and Jodi had an intense and vigorous sexual relationship. But we also know that Jodi Arias enjoyed this sexual relationship, lies consistently, tries to act her way out of situations, manipulated evidence (and people), threatened violence, and, ultimately, murdered someone. Let’s critically think about who’s the victim here, shall we?

I’m disappointed to see this site is nothing more than one big mutual admiration society with only one opinion and a multitude of potty mouths who are not interested in the truth but only in pushing their beliefs onto everyone else. I was hoping this was a place a person could go to see a variety of opinions. It is sad to see that no one uses their education (if they even have one)–doubtful), to express themselves properly. It is also sad to see the level the younger generation has stooped to. I will not be visiting this site again as no one seems to be able to think outside their box. I am terminally bored already. Have fun scratching each other’s backs.

ALV “A nod up and down is a form of that word, Mr. Martinez”

JM ” Can you even say the word ‘yes’?”

      ALV ” Ok”.

JM ” No I want you to say the word , ‘yes’.”

Dr. Drew is going to have a lip reading expert on tonight to tell us everything that Jodi was saying in court yesterday.

I was on another Arias blog and one poster claimed that when Martinez was asking Lavoilette about the fight and who started it, the camera was on Jodi and she mouthed the words to Wilmott: “I hate that motherf**er” and that the camera was on her when she said it.

    Anyone else see this?

I loved it when he insisted “biased” WAS the “right word”. And the other day when he asked if whether or not the prosecutor’s being angry would affect her testimony. A person who is cunning in arguing semantics can win even when that person is wrong, and while I think she’s a decent match for JM, it gives me so much satisfaction that he hasn’t gotten tripped up on any of her bullshit.

One of the most telling moments of the trial yesterday was when ALV said to JM, “If you were in one of my groups, I would put you in time out”. REALLY??? Does she put adult men in time out? How ludicrous! I don’t care if they are abusers, you don’t use time outs for adults. I bet ALV has used time outs more than I have and I’m a retired kindergarten teacher.

She is revealing her man-hater self and the fact the she does not accept the emotion of assertion. Mr. Martinez iis assertive with her and this is a behavior she claims to teach people. Yet when she meets a person with a healthy self esteem who is not hesitant to set boundaries and limits with her and is not intimidated by her, she tries to over power him and shame him. Yet she claims that jealousy is an acceptable emotion and the behavior is what determines whether or not it is acceptable or not. She is a hypocrite. I only hope the jury is taking note.

Sometimes people talk about him “shouting” and I am asking myself “THAT was shouting?” I think it has to do with the size of the family you were raised in…

I wonder also. Yesterday he cut off the power of ALV’s testimony because she did not know the previous testimony of sworn witnesses. Is it legal for JW to tell her those things or would that violate the judge’s order to witnesses to stay away from the trial? Doesn’t matter much because JM doesn’t backpeddle. Nurmi has not wanted this case for quite some time. He’s stuck with it. As for what the defense can talk to the expert about (and I am no expert, and will defer to those here who are…) MY legal expertise that I have from watching too many trials on tv 🙂 , leads me to believe that they CANNOT discuss other witness testimony with the expert but that they can prep her extensively for cross. They cannot tell her what to say, but they can say “if you don’t feel like you can give a yes or no answer then say that.” or “he’s going to come at you, don’t let him get to you.” or “You can use your notes that say Jodi is the victim as much as you want… ” or whatever. In reality no one except those present know what was discussed at dinner.

Interesting. If Nurmi didn’t want this case, he should find another line of work, IMO. In every profession one dedicates himself/herself to, there will always be clients and projects that are not ideal. You take them and you give your all, your “A” game. Again, my opinion. I have a PITA client but I do remain grateful that he does come to me for work. He’s a challenge, a pip, but at the end of the day, I have work and he helps me pay my bills.

Martinez never asked the judge to treat ANYONE as a hostile witness. Most judges would not allow his style of questioning in their courtrooms unless they were given permission and for a specific line of questions.
This trial is a joke, a huge waste of taxpayers money and seems like there is no end in sight.
I agree this expert Laviolette is not being effective as in she should of said, yes, Jodi has lied at times , but i believe there was domestic violence.
What i really find upsetting is the comments about her looks, her clothes and possible sexual orientation.
It clearly shows how immature and hateful our country still seems to be.
Of course i realize my opinion isnt going to be popular (not that i care) but i felt it had to be said.
And…..any good lawyer could of questioned Laviolette effectively and been done in one day.

Eve, I also don’t like to comment on one’s looks or possible sexual orientation (that never meant a hill of beans to me anyway). Ms. LaViolette did sign on to be an expert witness for this case, when six others before her flatly declined. I would imagine that Ms. LV knows what she has signed on for.

That said, witnesses often tend to forget that even though they may be for the prosecution or for the defense — their testimony is for the jury. Would one (or she in this case) not want to be as forthright in answering JM’s questions for the sake of jury understanding and clarity? Isn’t a witness’ ultimate responsibility for the jury? I may be wrong, but I do know that if I was ever called as a witness, I would keep that jury ultimate in my mind to ensure they have as much clarity from my testimony as I can give them.

I totally agree Dlister. I am really saddened and bewildered why someone who has helped so many and has years of experience would not be totally forthright. Mostly because i believe she has been one of the few experts of her field who has truly made a difference in helping abuse victims. (not talking about court appearances)
No one made a comment about how Martinez tried to discount her credentials and experience. its below the belt and totally unprofessional.

It gives a lot of insight to what the jury is thinking. We all like to think that the jury is seeing things the same way we are and we have been shown time and time again that is not the case.

And she refers to the illegal audiotaping that Jodi made while she was jazzing Travis up on the phone. Well, let’s be frank. Regarding your comment about the “illegal audiotaping that Jodi made while she was jazzing Travis up on the phone”. The lawyers on HLN said that in Arizona, both parties must be aware they are being recorded, BUT, in California it is only required that ONE person be aware. Because Jodi was in California when she recorded the sex tape, it is considered legal, and so was allowed into evidence for the trial.

I know that she would have remembered how many times she had testified in court on behalf of a man and upon questioning she did in fact remember that it was ZERO, even though her initial answer was ONE or TWO. Then she started going back and forth with Juan saying “I don’t know what your question is”. Come on…..She knows what his question is and what all his previous questions have been. She is just using her stalling/misunderstanding technique to benefit the defendent.

Dearest Cassandra (I mean, Faye) wants us all to know that we are “one big mutual admiration society with only one opinion and a multitude of potty mouths who are not interested in the truth[.]” That’s a typical blow back from the weak, who faced with opposition to their views or opinions, throw out an insult to those who disagree and then huff out the door. But I’ll cop to the potty mouth because I’m not the frigid prude that apparently Cassandra is.

She claims that “no one uses their education (if they even have one)–doubtful), to express themselves properly.” Sadly, her education has apparently just convinced herself that she is better than anyone else. The worst kind of educated, in my book.

She also appears to presume that most of the commenters of younger, lamenting how “sad [it is] to see the level the younger generation has stooped to.” Lady, just because you’re “old” doesn’t mean that the rest of us are young chickens without a brain. I’m sure the viewpoints expressed here are representative of pretty much all economic, social, ethnic, gender, and educational backgrounds. We are the fortunate ones, not you.

She sashays out the door with the Faye-like expression that she “will not be visiting this site again as no one seems to be able to think outside their box. I am terminally bored already.” Got only one response to that: Don’t let the “X” button on your computer screen hit your ass on the way out. Night, night, Alyce.

ok – here is my 2 cents worth. I approached this with an open mind, and part of me felt sorry for Jodi, as she could’ve been my sister, daughter, granddaughter …. however, IMO I don’t believe that just after 18 mos of an on/off, long distance and mainly physical relationship at that, didn’t make her to be the manipulator that she is, in such a short period of time. She has honed those skill for years, and appears to be a big part of her character. Jodi is still trying to manipulate things (via her tweets, msg in magazines etc. Though not illegal, it’s consistent for her. Leopards don’t change their spots. She blames everyone and everything….her mom, her dad, Travis, religion, ex-boyfriends.

Perhaps she did not “plan” to stab Travis all 27 times, but I believe she did have a plan to shoot him. If you watch the interrogation tape where she came up with the ninja story, she said “they said “finish the job””. When the gun jammed or was out of bullets, she grabbed the knife or vice versa. She planned kill him since she stole her grandparents gun. It may not have gone as planned, in detail, but I believe she planned none-the-less.

She said she did not plan on visiting Travis on her way to Utah. Do you believe that….really? Several calls were made to him when she was “on the road” & he returned them. She stopped by the salon in CA to get a mani/pedi and (I’d bet money that she also got a bikin wax – cause that was Travis’ preference. Don’t most salons have a log/register to sign when you walk in – Name: Appointment?: y/n time: Service: Mani/Pedi/ Wax ? (Every nail salons I’ve ever went to used them.) Not that proves premeditation – anymore than having 3 gas cans. Wonder if they could find that register/log, and see: June 3, 2008- Jodi – appt. no – mani/pedi/wax.

Choose your behavior, choose your consequences. I am not a Travis relative, or friend , nor a Jodi hater., but there are just too many coincidences for me to buy the domestic abuse, self-defense theroy…Just sayin.
