Jodi Arias Trial Drags On

March 21, 2013 by tamaratattles 74 Comments

jury dutyIf Jodi Arias found her breakfast to be satisfactory and everyone in the gallery can keep their breakfast down, we should get to hear the jury’s questions for Dr. Samuels today. Reports are that the jury has over 100 questions for the defense’s mental health witness.  While we really don’t want to hear anything else from him, it is always interesting to hear what the jury picked up on and where their heads are at.  It is interesting to me that the judge and the witness can get through 100 questions without delay in short order even though when the opposition is questioning the witness it is like pulling teeth to get an answer.  What do you think the jury is going to ask? What would you ask?

As always, we will be updating you in comments with recaps and opinions. Please join in the conversation!  We need the interaction to stay awake! Sorry for delay, the Internet connections suck in the ghetto today.

Some new friend of Jodi’s has a blog out saying Travis was “blood sacrificed” by the Mormons for sexual immorality. I believe 100% Jodi did this murder all by herself. She was in a crazy rage, and Travis weakened quickly from blood loss I think. However, it seems unusual for a woman killer to slash her victim’s throat in that way. I think in Jodi’s mind she was performing a blood sacrifice. There’s a lot of Mormon weirdness involved this case which neither side is bringing in, probably because the Mormons are powerful in AZ.

Disclaimer: I’m not an ex-Mormon, but have a close friend who got in and got out. And they frankly scare me.

I just finished under the Banner of Heaven and I agree with you 100%. I’m really shocks that the prosecution isn’t jumping on this point. I think it totally speaks to her motivation. There’s a lot of things like her statement that her love for him was forever on the way that she talked about seeing him again after he died. Also, in the blood atonement killings perpetrators don’t feel guilty about it, because they feel that they are doing God’s will. There’s also a long tradition in the morning church lying to cover up behavior, especially illegal behavior, and that’s seen as being acceptable in their church at high-level. I think this makes a lot of sense in her case especially.

I think she did it alone, if someone helped her she would definitely have spilled it by now, I don’t see her taking the blame alone if she had help.

Think how vulnerable you are, naked in the shower. To plan an attack like that, she could for sure have done it alone.

you can bet your life that if someone was there she would have painted herself as an innocent bystander and let him/her take the blame. Also, pathological liars usually weave elements of truth into their stories, leading me to believe that she would have brought it up voluntarily

I’m getting somewhat concerned now that jury has 100+ questions for psychologist – if I were on jury, at this point, I would have decided her quilt/innocence after all this testimony so what is point of asking Dr. 100 more questions – he’s a buffoon in my opinion so his analysis of her PTSD is garbage. So now I’m thinking there are jurors who still want MORE answers from Dr. (WHAT they could possibly ask him that would make any difference is beyond me)and the fact that they have questions is making me uneasy about their decision…..

dude was just asked if a person can regain memories if they have suffered from acute amnesia and he said no because they are never formed, yet jodi has stated multiple times that she began to recall some things. Also, if what he says is true, she wouldn’t have remembered dropping the knife and screaming in the middle of her transient global amnesia….supposedly she didn’t come out of her so called amnesia until she was driving in the desert

TRUE cherry, I picked up on his twisted logic there too. What is most troubling is this talk of not forming a memory. I think if you are alive, you are forming memory every second, aren’t you? And especially if you are in action with your eyes open, how can you Not form a memory? I think this whole memory bs is something that can not be proven, we would need to call in government neuro scientists, and even then it is all subjective because how can anyone really know what she remembers?

In agreement with you @tango. He absolutely said that NO memories can be formed during the duration of the loss bc the hypocanthus(?sp) isn’t cabable due to the chemicals that have flooded it. He was adamant.
She also says she has a vague memory of putting the knife in the dishwasher, throwing the gun away and I might be missing one or two things. She starts talking, saying what she believes she needs to say to corrorbarate her story, then….oops…she has to backtrack by saying things like “I have a vague recollection, but it might have been another time when I was doing dishes”.
She remember being stopped by the cops for her tag but I don’t know when that ocurred.
I hope the jury stays strong.

The strange thing about that story of washing herself up before the hoover dam checkpoint is that Travis wasn’t covered with blood, and he was the victim….if Jodi took the time to wash the blood off Travis, wouldn’t she have washed the blood off herself too? They said there was evidence that she had attempted to clean up the scene after the crime-so you’d think she would have attempted to clean herself up as well.

This is a truly morbid thought but….. You think she showered in the same bathroom with his body there? That would explain just having blood on her hands at the check point??? Not having to change clothes because she would have been covered in blood. This blood would have also transferred to her vehicle. Just her hands before a checkpoint seems unrealistic to me. She had to have cleaned up there… Guuuh!

I considered that possibility. I don’t think there was evidence that she cleaned up in the sink or tub…soooo….that leaves the shower.
It bothers me that she spent so much time cleaning, removing evidence, washing clothes (and cameras), moving the body etc. Personally I couldn’t be in the same room with a dead hamster. A mutilated human would freak me the frick out. And then moving him, washing him….uh….not happening.

The PTSD all goes to what she is claiming to remember and not remember i.e. the fog from gunshot to blood on her hands. She did Not answer yes about being battered or even raped by someone she knew on the test, only to strangers. The only two possible incidents there were the now new fact from when she was 13 and/or her ninjas, nothing about Travis. I’m pretty sure the jury isn’t buying she can’t remember because poor thing has PTSD. With soldiers and cops and true victims PTSD means you can’t FORGET what happened to you, not that you can’t remember, SO bogus.

Remembering or not remembering what she did after the murder really has no bearing on this case. The question here is not did she kill Travis. She’s admitted to that. What needs to be determined is if it was self defense, premeditated, or in a fit of rage. All which would occur before “the fog” rolled in.

He diagnosed her with a personality disorder? No shit, Sherlock! She’s extremely insecure? Wow what a shocker–someone who had penises (peni?) thrust into every orifice of her body and slithered in and out of doggie doors to pleasure someone could never have low self-esteem! Tell us more, doctor!

Oh and he should know that in every narcissist there is an endless pit of insecurity… that’s what feeds their desire to “win” every situation at all costs… “If I can’t have you, no one else can.” Narcissists are extremely emotionally insecure (despite the outer charisma–in Jodi’s case the flirtatious blonde bimbo act) and seek love partners as if their life depended on it for affirmation of what special snowflakes they are. Maybe that’s the PD she was diagnosed with…

I think he is backtracking his defensiveness of Jodi a little (“PTSD is not a get out of jail free card”) because he realized how horribly he came off yesterday and wants to preserve the last few shreds of his career. Which is his right–it’s audacious for Jodi’s attorneys to think he’ll throw away every ounce of legitimacy to save their saucy little minx who was savagely abused by a wanton pedophile.

Whenever he begins talking about soldiers and veterans with PTSD in the same line as her I can feel my eyes cross a little with rage, a la Jodi Arias….

This psychologist is doing immense damage to the reputation of ALL psychologists! What a dope! Did he do nothing but give this chick a multiple choice test and diagnose her from that..?? He keeps saying that the fact that she lied in the test doesn’t matter, just the number she scored on the test-really?? I am waiting for one of the jurors to ask WHY it doesn’t matter that she lied, and doesn’t the fact that she lied give him pause as to the validity of his diagnosis? Samuels keeps saying that her score would be the same for the test if she filled it in using the details of her self defense story instead of the ninja story-isn’t that an assumption on his part??

And did anyone notice that in answer to yesterday’s question about his fee being $250/hour, he said that’s what his fee was at the time he was hired? I’d like to know if his fee has gone down or up since then, since it seems from his answer that it isn’t $250/hour now!

Actually he said the number on the test didn’t matter either (she failed). He used some other data to diagnose her. We already know he decides what’s relevant. He decided, sorry I meant hypothesised she had PTSD and therefore that’s what he tested her for and that’s what he found.
That’s why it doesn’t matter that she was talking about ninjas on her test, that’s why he ignored that she actually scored for anxiety disorder and not PTSD, and why he couldn’t be bothered retesting.

I have been saying from the beginning that it is too bad that they can’t somehow see the reflections in Travis’s eyes in that photo where he is looking at her. It has always been my opinion that he didn’t even know that she was still there (as in she had already left his place before he got in the shower), and that she came back and was taking those photos of him in the shower without him knowing, until that last one, when he is looking at her. They have described it as “a sexy look”, but I have always seen it more as a confused look (like he is seeing something unexpected). Anyway, now, last night on TV I saw somewhere on HLN that they were saying that you can possibly see 2 people in the reflection in Travis’s eyes in that shower shot. Hmmmmm… That sure would make more sense as to why she doesn’t have many injuries, and how he has so many; and also how she was able to drag him back into the shower. Or maybe the other reflection is just the devil who made her do it.

Samuels keeps saying “if I knew someone was lying, I would not make a diagnosis”, but if I remember correctly, from the beginning of his testimony he said that he always thought she was lying with the home invasion story, but he didn’t want to push her. This guy is such a joke. The jury should just ignore everything he says/thinks. He’s a liar who keeps changing his story, just like Jodi.

Did the judge just suggest jury tampering??? First time I have heard her ask if they have been influenced or swayed by internet, news, or PEOPLE…. That’s a head scratcher…

    To fellow TT followers,
I apologize for my chattiness today…. First day sitting through from beginning to end. I see what it must be doing to the jurors. Have great weekend 🙂

Just re watching JM on HLN, and he asks Shrink definition of compassion and sympathy, which the Shrink just stated are different in meaning. And what does JM do, he whips out a copy of the Webster’s Dictionary definition!!!!! How fucking brilliant! My blood returned to my head as soon as JM returned to the podium this afternoon. This “poor” guy is gutted and regutted. And what about the schedule for next week! What a crazy world this is!

The look on Nurmi’s face yesterday seemed to be saying “Jennifer, don’t go there with Dr. Swarmy” and “Jennifer, get him off the stands as quickly as possible”. At least Jennifer did polite lawyer things while Nurmi was asking the questions; Nurmi couldn’t seem to find anything to write on his pad while Dr. Samuels was testifying. And, Dr. Samuels is just to testify about the ‘fog’ nothing else really. He did say he saw signs that she might have multiple personalities and serious personality disorders but that wasn’t the purpose of his testing. WHAT??? If I were Jodi, I would be getting just a little, ok a lot, scared. Dead (wo)man walking.

BTW, who the hell is this annoying blond bimbo Katie Wick? Really, HLN, you could do much better than that.

Is it just me, or does anybody else notice that Jodi and Dr.Sam. both have the same black (or dark) “beady” eyes? Creepy.
