Who is Leaving The View?

March 11, 2013 by tamaratattles 43 Comments

joybeharToday on The View the women addressed the rumors about who is leaving and why. Joy is leaving to pursue other career opportunities (reportedly at CNN).  Barbara said that the stories about Elisabeth being let go for being too conservative are false. They have no plans to get rid of her. Elisabeth however did not say anything. Barbara said that she is always supportive of anyone who wants to take their career in a different direction. Then, in an odd segue, Whoopi talked about Lisa Ling’s ( a former co-host) new baby. She said to Joy AND Elisabeth, be careful leaving the show or you TWO could wind up pregnant again. Way to muddy the waters there Whoopi. I suspect that FOXNews has been making offers to Elisabeth for quite some time.  We shall see if The View ponies up to keep her or not. Personally, Joy and Elisabeth are my two favorite hosts. I love how they balance each other out. The show is called The View because it embraces lots of different viewpoints. I think losing both Joy and Elisabeth would be bad for the show. What do you guys think?

    I agree.

Although I rarely agree with Elisabeth and think she is completely annoying, to get rid of her would be a mistake. She gives the show balance.

As a semi-conservative I think getting rid of Elizabeth is a mistake. Now, I don’t always agree w/ her viewpoint, however, there are viewers out there who lean right and want a conservative viewpoint on the panel. I have felt Elizabeth gets the sh*t end of the stick bc noone ever agrees w/ her. I’ve seen guests treat her differently as the other ladies.

If she decides to leave, good for her. But they need to bring on a conservative to take her place.

I agree. I think Megahan McCain would be a much better conservative voice on the show. Elisabeth is NOT intelligent and appears very childish. I agree that a conservative voice should remain on the show, but one with more intelligence.

I agree. Elizabeth is good at sticking with GOP talking points but never seems to have any outside the box comments. Meghan on the other hand is very good at the give and take, has her own opinions and will speak up when she doesn’t agree with the GOP. If Elizabeth wasn’t trying so hard to be a right wing nut, to agree with everything they come out with, she would be better off. I don’t know if FOX wants her. She really seems like a bubble head trying to act smart.

These days, Joy & Barbara are the only reasons I watch the View…
Being in my 40’s, Barbara’s historical news making journalism has been in my stream of consciousness my whole life. She is an ICON….

With Joy leaving, and when Barbara retires, I will probably stop watching the View.

I think they should replace Elisabeth with a conservative who can articulate her opinions without being so childish. They also need someone who thinks and doesn’t just repeat Fox talking points. That is the reason why she turns so many people off. She isn’t humble and lacks the ability to be objective. Sometimes I wonder if she’s like that because she took on her husbands political views or if she acts like that as a way to remain relevant.

She’s extremely hard to stomach because she defended everything Bush did while he was in office. I even remember her defending the people who outed Valerie Plain. She went as far as to say she wasn’t covert. She treats politics like a competition, which might be her overall problem. Her husband can’t even make the kids lunch without her feeling the need to compete with him. At the end of the day she acts like a butt kissing opportunist. I would rather see someone with a conservative view point that she culminated on her own.

Do you think that Joy, Whoopi, & Barbara are humble or they have the ability to be objective? LOL! When it comes to those 2 subjects those 3 are the worst offenders.
You stated “She’s extremely hard to stomach because she defended everything Bush did while he was in office.” As if Joy, Whoopi & Barbara haven’t defended EVERYTHING that Bill Clinton & Obama have done or any other liberal president? Come on! Really?Unfortunately when it comes down to who likes who and who should go or stay, it all comes down to political views.
People judge people by their political views. Who cares whether they are kind, loving, etc. they are a liberal or conservative therefore we don’t like them because God forbid they don’t agree with our opinions.

You obviously don’t watch the show or you watch it through a filter. Whoopie has her opinions, but she has on more than several ocassions demonstrated her ability to be objective. Joy in no way defends everything that Bill Clinton did. In fact she often takes shots at him still.

My opinion of Elisabeth isn’t based on my politics. It is based on her behavior. I was glad to see Rosie go as she was obnoxious and seemed like she didn’t know how to handle not being the center of attention. However, I understood why she was upset that Elisabeth didn’t defend her when Fox news was accusing her of being against the troops. She didn’t have to support Rosie’s viewpoint, but she knew Rosie wasn’t against the troops. This was another example of her inability to be objective or at the very least showed how cutthroat she is.

Joy & Whoopie are absolutely more humble than Elisabeth. Probably because they have endured hardships in their lives. Their views are shaped by their experience and you can tell when they explain their position. Once Elisabeth has to go off script she gets flustered and screechy. I think the conservative view point is best served by a better messenger.

Because Joy & Whoopi were so humble and mature when they walked off stage during an interview because they disagree with the guest?? And if there is a guest they politically disagree with, Whoopi & Joy cannot even sit next to them or look in the guests direction? It’s just as childish as you claim Elisabeth to be.

Exactly. I used to like WHoopi but she acts like the hot topics on the show she signed up for are a ridiculous waste of her time, she is completely uniformed politicaly and acts like an idiot. Joy is better informed but only slightly more professional in her conversations. Barbara and Elisabeth are the only ones that are politically knowledgeable. Sherri still thinks the earth is flat.

Yes, I do watch the show on days when I can stomach it. I was quoting you when you said “She’s extremely hard to stomach because she defended everything Bush did while he was in office.” I’m sorry but that is as political as it gets, and then you say and I quote “My opinion of Elisabeth isn’t based on my politics.” Now that is laughable.
As for Rosie, she is a grown woman and when she opens her mouth she should be prepared to insert her foot. (as she has done many times). She shouldn’t need someone to support what she says or doesn’t say on TV or anywhere else in life.
You said, “Joy & Whoopie are absolutely more humble than Elisabeth. Probably because they have endured hardships in their lives.” And you know this HOW? Have you ever checked into Elisabeth’s childhood or background?
You said, “Joy in no way defends everything that Bill Clinton did. In fact she often takes shots at him still.” The only shots she takes at Clinton are jokes. She has said many many times that she loves Bill Clinton, but he makes for good jokes.
Look, I am not defending Elisabeth being the best host, or the worst host. I am defending the fact that people judge whether she should be removed from the show because of her political beliefs.

I agree Tamara Whoopie comes off like she is above most of the hot topics stuff. However, just about everytime she tries to express her opinion Barbara rudely interrupts without letting her talk. In fact she did it today when agreeing with something Elizabeth said. She has the patience of Saint when dealing with Barbara’s rudeness.

Elizabeth is only politically knowledgeable when it comes to repeating Sean Hannity.

@ Lake Girl, I brought up President Bush as example of her inability to be objective because she defended everything he did from all of his vacations, to 911 failures, starting 2 wars that didn’t pay for themselves to making jokes about not being able to find WMD’s. Meanwhile people were losing their lives and limbs over those lack of WMD’s. So yes given her defense of everything Bush did I find it hypocritical that she complains about Benghazi, the debt, or President Obama golfing.

She even ridiculed John Kerry for being a flip flopper yet supported Mitt Romney. No objectivity!!

As for Rosie, maybe you wouldn’t defend someone you claim to be your friend when people are saying things about them that you know aren’t true. I think that’s wrong. That says a lot about a persons character.

As for the Bill O’Reily situation both Whoopie & Joy apologized. However, Elizabeth never apologized or was publicly scolded by Barbara for he unprofessionalism when Bill Maher was on the show. At least O’reilly got to speak about what he was on the show for.

I don’t agree with most of what Elizabeth says but I agree with Tamara, she and Joy bring balance to the show and I am sad to see Joy go. With that said, she lost me as a sort of fan when she blasted Erin Andrews for skimpy costumes on DWTS. I was completely floored by that comment and I don’t think she knows the first thing about suffering in ANY way.

Yeah the Erin Andrews comments were just an example of her arrogance. I remember one time she said it’s the parents fault if they can’t afford health insurance for their kids. However, she didn’t bother to take into account that a lot of parents would go without health insurance for themselves, but would gladly sacrifice to provide health insurance for their kids. In most states (at the time she said this) kids couldn’t be on health insurance policies without adults being covered too.

It was completely fine with her that kids suffer without health insurance. Who cares what type of situation they were born into.

I cant speak for Lucy94 but for myself I am not discriminating against Barbara because of her age. I do not care if she is 125. However when it comes to her not being able to fullfill her broadcasting duties or whatever you want to call what she does, I think its time to pull the plug. She does get confused as Lucy94 says and u can clearly see that she is either reading what she say or has someone telling her what to say in her ear. Also, she is only on the show when it is a subject or quest that she is interested in, and she gets confused then.
Also, I do not have a dislike for females. If Barbara was a man, dog, rabbit, or squirrel, I would be saying the same thing if the details were the same.
Like alot of women in the entertainment business Barbara needs to bow out gracefully before she makes a fool of herself.
Look, I have no dislike for Barbara at all. She has opened doors for many women in broadcasting and she should be proud of that, but when its time to get off TV its time.

My last straw with Barbara Walters was several years ago when the hot topic was breast feeding in public. She preceeded to tell this story about a flight she was on and a woman started feeding her baby near her and she felt it was inappropriate and what not. The next day, when she wasn’t there, their switchboard/email had lit up with angry moms. So much so that Barbara “had” to call in and swore up and down she didn’t say what she said about public breastfeeding the day before. I’ve actively loathed her two-faced behind ever since.

And she ain’t slick! She’s trying to pull some more of that old Star Jones bullshit with Elizabeth. Elizabeth is such a fool she’ll go along with the script. I guaran-damn-tee you in another few weeks, she’s going to announce that SHE decided to leave of her own accord. They made the mistake of telling Star she wasn’t being brought back and we see how that worked out,. Barbara looked like she could have spat nails! She always pretends like she has nothing to do with casting on the show. She’s always quick to blame ABC. The trick knows damn well a mouse don’t fart in that studio without her approval.

I can’t STAND Barbara.. That sneaky, manipulative, lying adulterer should have BEEN retired!

I don’t believe Barbara either especially because of the Star Jones situation. That was very telling. She was so mad that Star didn’t play the game. The difference is Star already had a successful career. It seems that Elizabeth has backed herself into a Fox News or bust corner. Maybe she could focus on her Gluten free line.

Well I don’t watch the view faithfully….I was never interested and it was always only an option when there was nothing else on….anyway…I agree with what someone said about Elisabeth….her knowledge based seems very rehearsed….she did not even have the background for this job she simply got it because of the family she married into…she is entitled to her own opinion but I do not think she can carry a full show without a co-host….she has strong opinions but tends to mix it with hate for whatever reason which makes her appear very hateful and less objective….I don’t know her personally but this is how she comes off to me. I wish anyone luck with future endeavors so I don’t feel like she should be out of a job so I wish her the best.
