Very few things on the Internet surprise me anymore, but today’s Real House of Miami news has left me a bit dumbfounded. When Stoopid Housewives was sued by a media group for copyright infringement, I sort of got it. The more I read about that case, the more it seemed that the plaintiffs were being a bit vindictive. SH took the pictures down when they asked her too. What is really the point of dragging her into the court system and ripping away her anonymity? Sure the have legal standing, but really? It seems like overkill to me. We all dislike it when our content gets stolen but is it really necessary to drag small time bloggers into court over a few pictures at a party?
Then today, Lisa Hochstein decides to sue a COMMENTER on WetPaint about negative comment about her? Oh Lisa. According to TMZ, “Hochstein recently filed a lawsuit against a woman named Jessica Lederman — claiming she suffered “severe emotional distress” after Jessica blasted her in the comment section of an entertainment news website. According to docs, Jessica wrote “Lisa was an escort who also did soft porn in Vegas” … in response to an article about Lisa joining the “Real Housewives” franchise.. But Hochstein says it’s a bold-faced lie and that she’s never been in the escort business or done soft core porn in Las Vegas. Hochstein claims Jessica’s remark damaged her reputation and threatened both her employment and social life.”
That last part has me mystified. Joanna Krupa has had similar allegations out there in the press and her employment and social life seem to be moving along just fine. Is it possible that the commenter was just confused about who she was talking about? At the time (April) no one even knew who Lisa Hochstein was. Perhaps the commenter saw Joanna’s tickle fetish video and got confused. That is now a reason to litigate? Lisa has piles of money and a great life. She can’t ignore the comments on some medium-sized blog? Is she really so self-obsessed that she reads all the comments? I laugh at the people who comment here as if they are talking to Kim, or Nene or whomever because I don’t for a minute think they wade through all the comments here. The posts, MAYBE but the comments?
If indeed Lisa was upset by the comment, wouldn’t a law suit just draw WAY MORE ATTENTION to the comment? Things like this make me wonder if I am actually the sane one and everyone else is crazy. Lisa ended her season on RHOM on the upswing. She became more and more likeable as the season we went on. She ended in a good place. She came off fine at the reunion. Now she wants to sue a fan? Because in the long run, even the haters are fans. Haters read more blogs and watch more shows about people they hate than supporters. I’d say that it is likely that once Jessica saw the show she, like me, came to change her opinion of Lisa. Lisa ended the season looking like a sweet young woman who desperately wants a child with a husband that she loves. This move is a HUGE PR fail.
Leave me a comment if you dare…:(
Lisa from RHOM did soft core porn and was an escort in Las Vegas. Ok, bring it Lisa.

🙂
This is funny, but the problem is that unlike on Wetpaint, this blog allows for anonymous posts, and the ACLU recently won a case (actually it was settled out of court with no monetary damages) in which the family of an accused rapist attempted to sue anonymous bloggers on a website. I’m thinking Lisa doesn’t want the ACLU after her, but she could just get them anyway with this suit.
I imagine that WetPaint has a similar comment process. If someone gets a court order anyone, even anon people can be identified.
Actually Wetpaint like many sites these days use the Facebook comment system so you’re only as anonymous as the fake facebook account you’re using 😛
she needs to get a life
Could not agree more Tamara
Oh, Lisa. Get over it.
This is crazy. I remember the comment, and didn’t think any more of it then I do most of the comments on Wetpaint. People say any number of things, particularly on FB and don’t expect to be sued because of them. I’m hoping someone advises her to drop the suit, or people are going to stop commenting all together for fear of being dragged into court. Is Lisa taking a page from Adrienne Maloof’s play book?
She’s rich, and not off her own talent or intelligence, why does she care? She basically a full time call escort to one person. I’m sure she didn’t marry Lenny for his striking good looks and great personality. He’s friggin loaded. I liked her at first. But damn what kind of reputation do you have to uphold when you body is mixed and matched from spare parts her husband had left over. Ahhhh she just made RHOM 100% insufferable.
crazy….but, I will say this: my daughter has a video segment that she does 5X a week for a medium sized website, and there are many days-too many-when the comments bum her out totally. I always remind her of how much attention she paid to internet comments made about others (none) before she got this job, so why stress about internet comments about herself? But, it’s VERRRRY DIFFICULT, even for ME, to not rip some people a new one over a comment. Maybe Lisa just had her limit. I’m sure she’ll lose though. You really can’t sue someone over a comment on a blog!
Is it possible that a certain “very rich” HW who divorced to protect her finances could become litigious against bloggers & commenters who tell the truth? Hmmm. Nah….she won’t because then she would draw attention to her fraudster ways.
If you are going to be on a reality TV show you need to have zero skeletons in your closet and very thick skin. If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen, Lisa!
I understand being offended and annoyed (if it’s not true), but to sue is silly. I read a few of these blogs and I hadn’t even heard that allegation made about her, but now she has shown the spotlight on it and brought it to EVERYONE’S attention.
I liked Lisa on RHOM, but she clearly needs a hobby or a job because she’s got too much time on her hands!
“Zero skeletons in your closet” would be a high order for anyone who’s hit their 40s or 50s — or so I’d bet. I mean, don’t ask me why I’d said that. LOL
In other news, if she wins, I’m suing all of you shitbags for the mean things you say about me here. I AM EMOTIONALLY DISTRESSED! Um At 15K a pop I can retire! YAY!
Can’t get blood from a turnip! So nee ner, nee ner. I can say what I want!
What the hell happened to freedom of speech? And what happened to being a grown up and not giving a flying eff what someone says about you? Especially since it’s someone YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW and there’s no way in hell this unknown person had any effect whatsoever on her life. Puhlease. I know nothing of Lisa as Miami isn’t a franchise I watch. This though would make me believe she was an attention whore. Maybe this is HER trying to have a storyline for the next season if there is one of Miami.
um do your thang and email me results please? xoxo.
I wouldn’t have thought she was a prostitute or a porn actress until she sued the commenter & it became news soooooo eeeeyeah….
She has bigger fish to fry. Like (a) Why does your bitch of a MIL have a key to YOUR home? And, (b) Why doesn’t your husband stand up for you when it comes to his mommy? Seriously, her MIL is a jerk.
I wonder if shes related to LeAnne Rhimes? Suing commentators on blogs/twitter/whatever? LMAO Unreal!
I enjoy Lisa but she is going a lil crazy with the lawsuit.Hope to see you next season!!
If she knew the commentor personally, like if she was a former business associate who is trying to sabotage something deliberately… I get it.
The HWs are fighting back. Ha! I used to think that Bravo’s contracts prohibited legal actions against cast members & Bravo alike yet Ana & her ex, Robert (RHOM), insinuated that Lea Black used an injunction to prevent information disclosed at their reunion from airing or being spoken about; Adrienne Maloof was effective at silencing both Brandi & Bravo (until the editing snafu that had Kyle, ironically, divulge the surrogacy secret).
I differentiate between people having opinions & their stating opinions as facts.
I don’t blame her. I believe people should be able to say what they want as an opinion, but at least learn how to give a disclaimer before your statement so people don’t confuse what you’re saying to be otherwise. There are so many reckless internet gangsters out here today perpetuating nonsense as “the truth”, they don’t take into account how what they say can destroy the lives of others, and the words phrases “defamation of character”, “libel”, and “slander” are completely foreign to them. Along with “plagiarism” these are simple writing concepts they once taught back in 4th grade; what gives in 2013 that so many people refuse to accept to those very basic definitions and apply them when writing? Things are so annoying to me these days that this is one the select few blogs I can stomach reading: TT is the only person trying to give informed opinions for her readers to weigh in on…and I think people with REAL don’t just tips generally throw random, potentially slanderous comments around here, they contact her privately first, and she takes time to check things out before she just throws stuff out for the masses to start wildin’ out on.
It’s just me not being “with the times”, I’m sure, but I’m just old skool in holding people accountable for the words they put out in the Universe. This is EXACTLY what Lea Black meant on their reunion when she said, ‘if you’re not willing to testify to what you say in a court of law under oath, then you don’t need to say it’, or in colloquial “folkspeak”, as my Grandmother used to warn her young charges, “Never let your mouth write a check that your behind cannot cash”. Sharing an opinion is one thing…but just being reckless with the lips for the sake of whatever-thee-hell is another. I say good on Lisa for standing up for herself.
The sad part (if it’s true) is that Lisa is now telling the newspapers (the Miami Herald) that this woman who made the comment is an acquaintance of hers & has been a guest in her home so she’s not trying to single out any poster who happens not to like her. Lisa felt it was especially treacherous coming from someone who knows those accusations not to be true & who she says she has never intentionally hurt.
Lisa also said that she filed this suit a while back & has never publicized it so perhaps it wasn’t her intention for it to come out. Who knows.
That’s an interesting twist, if it’s someone Lisa knows personally that’s a whole different ballgame. In general Lisa seemed to have a sense of humor about herself that is very unusual in RH-land – one reason why I began to like her as the season progressed, even though the plastic surgery/trophy wife/no job thing rubbed me the wrong way at first.
