Finally! It’s time for Prosecuting Casey Anthony I hate to admit it but Lifetime movies have gotten pretty good over the years. I followed this trial pretty obsessively with a group of online peeps and even set up sort an online jury to keep us all busy during deliberations. It was mostly women who wanted to give Casey the death penalty twice. So I made sure to put on some people with less conviction. It was a hung jury. Most of them refused to deliberate with the juror who said the prosecution did not prove their case. They would not even entertain that opinion. They wanted me to remove him because clearly he was a shit stirring troll in the game trying to cause problems, he could not possibly be serious. As I recall, I think he could have been persuaded to agree to guilty on manslaughter.
I think what shocked me most about the trial was that the jury seemed to be enchanted with Jose Baez. In fact, I think that is what won the case for the defense. Somehow, Jose wrapped the jury around his little finger and Jeff Ashton’s smugness rubbed them the wrong way. At least that is what I think now. But, it’s time to watch the movie. I’m not going to “recap” it. I will probably just throw in some random thoughts along the way and we can use this post to talk about what we thought.
Jeff would not have called Casey ‘tot mom” before even working the Casey. That moniker was given to her by Nancy Grace after the trials began. #plothole (Scenes later show Jeff ragging on Nancy for trying case in media.) Okay same scene and it’s already annoying. All the evidence is being given to Jeff over coffee at a diner in a neat little bow. I know it’s Lifetime. Let me hush and get back to watching.
They should have given Rob Lowe gray hair.
Prison phone calls scenes are REALLY crappy acting.
I had managed to forget I learned the word ‘adiposuria’ until tonight.
It seems like this movie is going super fast compared to the long, long, summer we all invested watching.
On what planet is psychopathic narcissism not considered mental illness?
Horrible casting for Judge Belvin Perry. I miss that little cuddlebear.
George’s casting is good. Cindy…not so much so far.
The jury selection was the best part of the whole trial in a lot of ways.
Love the scene where they out ABC in particular and also CBS for financing the defense. Score one for NBC which did not.
LOL at the crazies in the Team Ashton t-shirts.
This laughing guy right here! Was most crucial moment in the trial.
At the reading of the verdict, I must admit I wished for a guilty verdict and for it to somehow be true and the ACTUAL trial to be the movie…sigh.
The creepiest thing? You just watched the same movie at the same time Casey Anthony did…./shudder
I, too, followed the trial obsessively and wished I had known of this blog to share thoughts since my friends and family thought I was crazy for my intense interest.
The movie left me as frustrated as the trial. It’s always all about the science for me and it blows my mind that people still have doubts about DNA evidence.
I will watch it at 11 I forgot it was on earlier
Me too. but it’s on here at midnight so I will record it . Too tired to stay up. I am watching Dr. G Inside the Casey Anthony Case right now on TLC. Love Dr. G! I followed the trial also and wish I would have known about you TT! Would have been nice to have someone to comment with. I did have my hubs around tho so had someone to watch it with. I almost was sorry to see it end I enjoyed it so much. I do remember being surprised she wasn’t found guilty and also why manslaughter was never given as an option for the jury.
I saw that Dr.G a while ago so interesting!!!
Tam tam, i really wasted my time watching that movie…
I followed this trial very closely and watched it very day. I even did a report of it for my college class. You have to remember this movie was based on the book by Jeff Anston. Rob Lowe followed Jeff and read his book for this movie. Rob Lowe was very where promoting this movie. This movie was as good as I thought. I thought it was too short and the movie went very fast. The people didn’t like the real people. Rob Lowe should have gray hair and the person playing Linda needed to gain some weight. Prison phone calls scenes didn’t look like the real scenes and the acting was bad. I think the person playing Casey and Cindy weren’t good actors at all. But the person playing George was good. Also they didn’t even show Casey’s brother in the movie. To me the problem is when Jeff was laughing and smiling when Jose was doing his closing. I think the Jury saw that. I wonder if Casey even watched this movie tonight and where she is. This movie was horrible so don’t waste your time watching it!
I suggest if you ever get the chance to read prosecutor’s book then the defense book as well. I had a hard time wanting to read the defenses Just remember one thing, this is has NOTHING to do with CA either, put your feelings aside and have an open mind. I have it on b&n that I would be happy to lend
I have not read the comments, so sorry if someone else mentioned this, but Nancy Grace started calling casey anthony tot mom years before the trial back in 2009. Within the next couple of years basically everyone and their brother was calling her that too.
I hated that “Tom Mom” moniker, and I wanted to slap Nancy Grace every time she said it. It was like fingernails on a blackboard to me.
Oops. “Tot Mom”.
What a snoozefest. The script was awful, the actors were all wrong for their parts They should have had Lindsay Lohan play Casey, if only for a laugh or two. Jeff Aston’s book was so much more interesting.
I’m sure that Casey would have loved to play herself if she had been asked.
I am going to regret this post. I can see it already. Meanwhile I am working on being QUIET. So this will be great practice for me.
This is from a Dec. 2011 Orlando Magazine interview with Jeff Ashton. “The one thing about Casey is that Casey is the most accomplished liar I have ever seen in 30 years, and I don’t say that for hyperbole. She is truly amazing. She is the Leonardo da Vinci of lies.”
I fell asleep twice during the movie. Considering that I suffer from insomnia this says something about the movie. I too was bothered that Rob Lowe didn’t have gray hair. I mean he went all out for the Peterson movie. I thought the guy play Jose was a good casting as was George. I feel I need to read the book though. Cuz didn’t get any new insight from the movie.
Hey Tamara are you following the Jodi Arias murder trial? Now THAT is an exciting trial!
Agree Heartland! Jodi Arias is one crazy ass bioch. I’ll be following this one fore sure.
awful movie, dont waste your time watching it! i fell asleep once, and fought to stay awake the rest of the time. the acting was horrible, and the people playing the roles looked NOTHING like the real people. rob lowe not even close to jeff, the lady playing cindy not even close on looking like her, and the guy playing george i about laughed my a&& off when i saw him. way to chunky in the face and absolutely no resembelence. same goes for casey, that girl besides the effed up eyebrows looked not even close to casey. this movie in my opinion was a joke! whoever thought of the characters to play them was obviously blind
I will also practice being quiet since there’s no way to talk
about this mess and follow your new 2013 rules…
Terrible, terrible movie…..Why did the first three scenes revolve around food ? I watched breakfast, lunch and dinner and then, since I gagged down those three meals, treated myself to dessert……I deleted the rest !
if you watched the whole trial (and I did) then watching the movie is always gonna be a disappointment I think. There’s no way that a reenactment can be as exciting as what we saw live-and they’re bound to leave out stuff that some of us found interesting. And the casting is always difficult, tho I bet Jeff Ashton was thrilled someone pictured him as Rob Lowe!
I taped the movie last night. But after reading the above comments I guess I’ll delete it. Sounds like it wasn’t any good.
Tamara are you watching the game today?
I am totally staring at Kroy’s ass every chance I get.
I hope the 49ers win!
This sounds like Rob Lowe was better in this portrayal than the one as Drew Petersen. That was pure comedy!
Haven’t seen it yet, but damn…Rob Lowe is aging very nicely! =)
I watched this movie and the only good thing about it was watching Rob Lowe lol good lord the older he gets the better he looks! FYI My first time posting here I think..maybe second time I read TT whenever I have free time to catch up! Great job you do with this site Tamara!
