An Extra Cup of Tea From WWHL Aftershow

December 3, 2012 by tamaratattles 40 Comments

RezaandKimThere was a bit more tea the WWHL after show last night. I knew that MJ didn’t take it well when Reza brings Lilly into the fold. I assumed that since MJ and Reza are such lifelong friends, they would get past the issue and move on. Sadly, this does not appear to be the case. Reza just can’t stop talking about how much he loves Lilly. He goes on and on and on about her during the aftershow. A caller asks how he and MJ maintain their relationship over such a long period of time and Reza says that MJ is currently on his “shitlist.” You could see in MJ’s face last night how unhappy she was to see her BFF had found a replacement for her. Reza seems very upset by MJ’s reaction. I love Reza, but he doesn’t seem to really understand how to treat MJ sometimes. Last season he told MJ her mother hates her. It’s one thing for MJ to say that, it’s quite another for your best friend to confirm it. This makes me sad. I hope they find a way to work things out.

A caller wanted to know why Sweetie wasn’t the bartender. Kim says “awwww” like that would have been a good idea. Andy asks about her working for Kim and Kim says Sweetie doesn’t really work for her but she will always be her friend. Looks like Sweetie only works for Kim during filming. A caller asked Kim why, since she comes from such humble beginnings, does she treat people like they are beneath her. She says she is very thankful for all that she has and that God doesn’t bless people who don’t live their life correctly. THAT SHIT MAKES ME LIVID. God has blessed you for whoring yourself out? Nene likes to say the same thing. Nene says all the time how she is “most favored by God” and God gave her a fabulous life because she is such a great person. I bet Thomas Kramer says the same thing.

See I consider that a racist comment. Have you ever watched Flipping Out and seen how Jeff Lewis interacts with his BFF and Assistant. What about Lea Black and Freda? Are all black women who work as a personal assistant to a white person considered slaves? This seems to be just a Kim thing for y’all. I get that you hate her, that doesn’t make her a racist. I have a dream that one day…. that card will no longer be played. Maybe the next generation will be better with that.

So Kim gets pregnant at 19 and then gets married, gets divorced, then she is being kept by a married man, dumps him for a toy boy, gets pregnant again… I must have missed this biblical lesson in Hebrew School. What am I missing here?

Apparently you are not reading the scriptures properly. Here in the south we have tons of “churchs” whose main tenet is that God wants everyone to be rich. Sermons focus on how if you keep God happy he will bless you with expensive material things. They are VERY popular especially within the African American communities. Eddie Long’s church is a prime example. You may remember me posting about him here. Remember the “Rabbi” who came to crown him kind of something? It’s insane what some people do and say when it comes to religion and material wealth. I don’t think that whole camel passing through the eye of a needle scripture is in their Bibles.

Tamara, I usually lurk here, but I just HAD to comment on what you said about churches here in the South whose main tenet is that God wants everyone to be rich. I disagree SO MUCH with this prosperity doctrine! I’ve seen members of churches who aren’t “rich” when it comes to material things be told by preachers & other members of the congregation that they aren’t “right” with God, that they aren’t praying or trying hard enough. In other words, they are shamed. I think this is SO wrong! My belief is that there’s more than one way to be “rich”. I’m far from rich, material-wise, but am a billionaire when it comes to my family & friends. I’d much rather have my husband, kids, extended family & friends than all the money in the world. From reading your wonderful blog, I understand you live in Atlanta? I live in Montgomery. The prosperity doctrine is as rampant here as it is there. What a shame. I agree with you so much about the camel going through the eye of a needle!

I love your blog & look forward to reading it every day. Keep up the wonderful work! : )

That’s a darned shame. I guess the Fruits of the Holy Spirit mean nothing to folks nowadays. Not only are people missing the camel through the eye of the needle scripture, but they could also do well with a bit of time spent in the Books of Daniel and Malachi. This money as idol over God crap is everything we DON’t need to be preaching in the church, teaching people the reason to worship the Lord is so the can GET stuff rather than having a relationship with God just for the sake of having relationship? And diggitydawn, you may not have endless monetary riches, but with the love and life experience that surrounds you I bet you live like a Queen bar none. Don’t even get me started on this materialism mess, makes my blood pressure go up, lol! SMH at this world, I’m telling you…

Hmmm…another Kim post but somehow NeNe’s brought up.lol…It’s more laughable to me that Phaedra speaks of God so much and behaves the way she does. Especially being the daughter of 2 pastors. Pregnancy due date lies, pregnancy out of wedlock, dropping F bombs, Naked strippers at bday parties, showing off her Donkey Booty to other men, etc, yet I never hear anyone call her on it. Kim on the other hand, should really cut it out. She was cursing in the church after Ayden’s dedication and has the nerve to say anything about the Lord!

Those mega-churches with the flamboyant leaders really blew my mind when I discovered them. After Hurricane Katrina we bounced around from Little Rock to Columbia and Myrtle Beach. I was amazed at these multi-story monstrosities with shopping mall parking lots and massive, lit-up neon screens.

But anyway, I can imagine it stings for MJ to hear Reza constantly mention how skinny the new girl is, and how obsessed he is with her weight. I like this show so far, though.

The reason why people have made the slave comments about Kim and Sweetie is because Kim has always spoke abusively to Sweetie. She let others around her like Big Poppa refer to Sweetie in derogatory terms. I remember 1st season when the nanny Kim hired left her young daughters at home alone to go to the store. Even though Kim was mad rightfully so, when see confronted the young lady her tone and speech was very respectful. I personally don’t care for Sweetie’s personally but I believe that she has very low self- esteem and Kim exploits her. From what I have seem Kim has allowed her married lover, her new husband, her ex-landlord, hairstylist, parent and daughters speak abusively of Sweetie. After barking orders at Sweetie, dumping her own parental responsibilities on her even admitting that she doesn’t pay her well, Kim tells the world that she is firing Sweetie because she was lazy. Really? Kim thinks that most people are clueless. Kim got rid of right before the wedding because she didn’t think that her friend of more than a decade was a good look for her lavish million dollar wedding. Not even good enough to be an invited guest. We all know that Sweetie was not there. Kim will never know true love and friendship. It will be a sad day when her daughters turn on her. They are learning to the best.

    Tamaratattles,

Unless you are Black and over the age of 55 you are not really in a position speak on the subject of racism, what it is and the impact on those of us who were greatly impacted as the result of it!

I am so sick of Whites who make the statement of Blacks “playing the race card”, although I must admit that some do…..but how would you know? You would have to walk some miles in my shoes (and others) to even begin to understand what affects racism has had of those of us who lived it, you know that first hand account. From the sound and tone of your message above, not only have you not suffered racism, but you are not Black. Not to worry my dear there are also Blacks who have not had to deal with the full extent of racism. Also understand, that because you are not prejudice, does not mean it does not exist.

Now to Kim, the way she treats Sweetie is so degrading and condescending it smells of how Blacks were treated back in the day. Blacks were considered second class citizens and were treated as such and this was made legal by Jim Crow Laws. The only jobs our parents were able to obtain were those jobs that served Whites, like maids and butlers, and they were not treatly very nicely by their “Bosses”. If you happened to be an educated Black you were only allowed to serve your community, such as teaching in segrated shools with used outdated tools. So know that when some respond to how Kim is treating Sweetie by saying she is racist this is what they mean.

I know a racist when I see one. You see, I am from the south, raised in the 50’s and 60’s, lived the Jim Crow era (attended segregated schools, rode the back of the bus, drank from “Colored Only Fountains”, etc).

Yes, dear Tamara it’s true Kim is a racist (at a minimum, maybe….she is not a racist but she certainly has racist ways). Kim treats sweetie the way Blacks were treated in the day. That is why so many are calling her a racist and they are not that far from the truth.

So the next time, think real hard before you bring up the “playing the race card”, at the very least do what you do best…..research the topic and confirm your information with those of us who lived it.

Love your blog…..keep up the good work!

I didn’t grow up in the South but most relative are from the South and I have heard all of the stories of racism. These things did happen. Sorry, but no one can rewrite history. Kim treats Sweetie is the same derogatory and disrespectful way that slave owners and racist treated Black people. Kim doesn’t treat all people the same, she treats Black people worst. Just watch her new show, you will see a difference.

LOL your assumptions about me are so far off that I see now that you just see what you want to see. You strike me as someone who has certainly never lived in other cultures or even traveled out of your county. You have a narrow perception of race. And a restrictive mindset about who is able to discuss it. You imagine facts, such as discerning someone’s race based on their writing (which is a racist thing in and of itself) and then based on your false assumptions proceed to arrogantly judge people of whom you have no knowledge. You assume only one race can experience racism because of your microscopic view of the world. There is just so much wrong with your little diatribe I can’t be bothered to cover it all.

And all of this so that you can call someone a racist on the Internet. You are some kind of special. I’m not going to debate race with you. There is a certain faction of Nene fans who love trolling message boards screaming anyone that doesn’t like Nene is a racist. There is no arguing with stupid. But I am sure you will continue to argue with yourself. Until I tire of allowing it.

@ Catazure – There is no such thing as the race card. It’s mostly just a term that people made up to silence people from speaking against racism. The fact that you think being a “rude Yankee” is worse than being a racist speaks volumes! It is almost 2013 not 1940 where most people could display their racism openly without fear of consequences. Kim is on TV & RHOA at that. Do you really expect to see her displaying obviously racist behavior or else it’s not possible for her to be racist in anyway? She may not be racist, but I find it sad that some of you won’t even consider it given the things she said or done.

WoW! Really Tamara, sounds likes you’re trying to deflect deserving criticism on Kim—Oh by the way I can’t stand NE NE so don’t start. I won’t say your comment about prosperity churches being popular amongst the African American community is racist (In my Phaedra voice: Everybody knows racism no longer exist.), but I will say it was a very inaccurate, simplistic generalization of a group of people. Yeah because everybody knows the good folks who attends the following MEGA churches are just wholesome lord worshiping people who are only there to worship the good Lord: Church In The Now, Pastor Swilley, (Finally announced he was gay after two marriages and children), let’s not forget about those bible thumpers at Holy Spirit at Chapel Hill Harvester, Pastor Paulk (Who slept with his brother’s wife, and impregnated her, and lied and said it was his nephew.). The list can go on and on. Your perception of Prosperity churches being poplar amongst the “African American Communities” is simply not true; you definitely sound like one of those people who make decisions, and form opinions based on a passing glance. I guess you’ve turned a blind eye to the European American communities who fellowship at the corporate entities…my bad I mean churches.

It was inevitable that the racism fanatics and the religious fanatics would somehow align as one in these comments. I see no basis for your outrage over my statement that prosperity theology is very popular in the African-American community. It’s not JUST Creflo Dollar (whose name, by the way, sounds like a character in a Flannery O’Connor novel) and Eddie Long (again, based on the sexual allegations, this name also sounds like a fictional character) but the numerous pop-up non-denominational “churches” focused on prosperity in the Atlanta area. I can’t see how anyone could dispute that it is a popular phenomenon in the African American community.

But Y’all now have not one but two posts rant in comments about racism. And what are European American communities? Nevermind. I don’t even want to know. Rant on.

I probably would still like Kim if she had not brought Sweetie onto the show. My flesh crawls when I hear how she speaks to Sweetie. Kim would commit murder if an older woman would speak to her daughters in this manner. Well, Sweetie is someone daughter too. She is not a sub-human and I feel that Kim treats her that way. If Kim knew that Sweetie feeling was hurt it wouldn’t change a thing. Sweetie is nothing more than an accessory and verbal punching bag.

Tamika, your use of the term European American tickled me pink! I remember my younger brother being sent to the office because he would not identify himself as African American when his teacher asked his race. He simply replied that he was black (although he is 1/2 Spanish and doesn’t look fully black). He was in 6th grade at the time and was confused that every minority in America was referred to as a subdivision identifiable by continent of origin except for whites. He asked why people were African American, Asian american, etc but whites, who are of European decent, are simply white or Caucasian. He even asked why american indians were even classified as Native Americans when they prefer to be called Indian. His teacher could not answer and sent him to the principal’s office for not answering her question.

We’re all American and we’re all immigrants (except for the indians) whether our ancestors came voluntarily or involuntarily through slavery. The division in this country over race is sickening.
