Okay. I swear to you this is not a joke. I thought it was when I read it too. I am FURIOUS that none of y’all alerted me to this! Apparently, three days ago, Sahara Davenport, a drag queen from Ru Paul’s show on Logo passed away. Clearly, this is sad news. What happened next is priceless. The folks at TVguide.com ran a lovely story on Davenport’s passing and next to the story they put up an image of the drag queen. Only it was not the dearly departed drag queen at all. It was Sheree Whitfield! Sheree alerted TVGuide to the error via twitter.
Shereè Whitfield@IamSheree I am sorry to hear about the lost of Sahara Davenport My condolences go out to her Family. Pls remove my picture from your website @TVGuide
TVGuide removed the picture and added the following. [Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story included a photo that was mislabeled as Sahara Davenport. TVGuide.com regrets the error.]
This is my favorite Sheree Whitfield post of all time.
This is one of those moments when you do not know whether to laugh or cry! May Sahara rest in peace….
sincere condolences to Sahara’s family and loved ones, but… LOL.
This is an insult of Ms. Sahara. May she RIP.
i know you are not going to believe this, but when i first saw this story, i thought, tamara is going to love this about her girlfriend! i know its sad, but it is also hysterical. the price of fame, right??
Girl!! This still has me howling! LOL
i love sheree and i loved sahara, yeh, that mistake was funny, but i thought sheree handled the gaff (see what i did there..) with thoughtful grace. didn’t you?
The Sahara Davenport Story: staring Sheree’ Whitfield….and the Oscar goes to….
now i have to go and look for my tvguide to see this in person. 😉 it will be an interesting housewife memento….. along with my 2.99 teresa cookbook. LOL
It was the online version. But just for fun check the print version for me. 🙂
Lmao @ Sheree’s tweet toTV Guide. Bwhahaha…
I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that people think Sheree looks like a man or that nobody knows her name is not Sahara! I remember when Sahara was competing and most people thought it was Sheree. Andy Cohen even joked about it on WWHL. The problem I am having is my computer. Thank You for responding.
Rest In Peace Sahara Davenport.
Should sued TV Guide to help pay for Chateu Sheree
I retweeted her tweet when it happened. I was howling. Thought you’d see it. Then, I was not sure if sheree was just trying to be funny because they do look alike and I was too lazy to go look at tvguide.
I don’t think Sheree has ever intentionally tried to be funny.
Lol…..breathe…lol…hilarious!!
Everybody talked about Joseline from LHH but I never heard too much about Sheree. That’s what all that bodybuilding will do to you especially when your features aren’t too soft to begin with.
Sahara Davenport was more graceful and prettier.
Ok, ok. So. Being that I am currently pregnant and stalking your blog as per my usual all night can not sleep behavior… I must take this time to tell you that you my hero TT. I drive my husband nuts reading all your blogs! *not a stalker just an uber fan :)..
Man I wish I knew about your blog when this happened!
The beauty of the archives is that we have history at your fingertips. Reading the archives is a great way to spend a rainy weekend or just waste some time. A bookmark feature would be nice cause I can never remember where I last left off reading, but that’s a minor quibble. All in all, I highly recommend them.
Back before I started blogging and had more time I would read several blogs, mostly people living abroad. I would bookmark the last page I read in my Browser list of favorites and then go back and bookmark the last page again and delete the former one. Or I would try to finish a whole month at a time and move through. It’s always sad when you catch up to real time though like binge watching something on Demand.
FYI, I’m binge watching a show called Finding Carter on MTV now. It’s really good. It’s one of those abducted kid found at age 16? 17? and sent back to live with her “real family shows” All of that happens in episode one and it’s about the trauma of ripping the kid away from the only family she knows and dropping her into a new one.

Is Finding Carter a true story?
I finally finished Melrose Place!!! The ending was perfect but I don’t know what to watch now!
No. It’s scripted but based on a lot of similar situations.

Ok I’ll look for it
1. This post about Sheered being mistaken for a drag queen has me ROLLING!
2. I loved Finding Carter, wish there were more seasons.
I love the moving bookmark idea and think I’ll use it, from the beginning since I can’t remember where I last left off.
Please ignore all the drunken personal ones. I went through some shit there for awhile. I’m much better now.
