RHONJ Sisters-in-Law Make Top Ten List

July 9, 2012 by tamaratattles 17 Comments

Well it seems Melissa Gorga and Teresa Giudice have something in common after all. Complex.com released it’s pick for the 10 Ugliest McMansions in all of New Jersey and the feuding sisters-in-law made the list.  The Gorga McMansion came it at number ten. The home that is currently on the market for 3.8 million dollars was described as follows:

“The individual parts of the house: the archways, the mouldings, and the windows, all seem like they are meant to be spread out on a house that is larger than this already oversized home. Again Mansart, creator of iconic French architectural elements, would cringe at the integration of his style into this house. The hints of scrollwork in the windows and on the chimney give the design of this house almost a fantastical feel, but I doubt there will be a happy ending to this architectural fairytale.”

OUCH!  Click through to see what they said about Teresa’s McMansion!

Not one to allow her sister-in law to out do her, Teresa and Joe Giudice’s McMansion comes in at number nine, so she um, “won” in the ugliest house contest at least. Complex.com describes Teresa’s home by comparing it to Wal*Mart. Double OUCH!

The beauty of this house lies in comparing the front elevation with the aerial shot of the house. It makes me think of what Venturi calls a “decorated shed”, when huge, mass produced megamarts slap a sign on their huge warehouse box of a store. I don’t see much difference between how Walmart decorates its square stores with its logo and this box decorated with “sophistocated” (sic), “French” finishings.

More affirmation for the belief that these two are two peas in a pod.  Then again, if you can’t spell sophisticated perhaps you should not be passing judgment. Thoughts?

OMG! Pot, MEET Kettle. As many typos that you have on your blog, you have the NERVE to sarcastically point out that http://www.complex.com misspelled a word? LOL! Haha! OMG!!!!!!

It’s the irony of complex’s typo that makes it remarkable. Don’t be an asshole.

The only true mansions I've see on any HW show are the Vanderpump & Maloof homes – and classy doesn't come to mind with those either… Maybe living in a normal size house all my life makes me freak out at the massive waste of space these folks live in…To each his own…

I've always thought Teresa's house was fugly – inside and out. Melissa's house looks like they tried to jam every architectual 'cool' thing they saw in magazines all on one house. New/faux money…WD

I dont think Melissa/Joe Gorga ever meant to live in that house originally-wasnt it a spec house? so they were imagining that potential buyers would just love the gaudy style…lol..No wonder its still on the market.OK..couple of things im hearing through the grapevine, tamara. Thought id ask you if you had any tea..1) Dina and/or Danielle is coming back to RHONJ.2) Caroline and family are out. (personally i think this would be a good thing–shes so annoying now..)3) The rift between Caroline and Dina has nothing to do with Teresa. Actually Dina said this herself. My opinion is that Caroline knew something about what (OR WHO) Dina's husband was doing on the side (since he and Albert are brothers) and didnt tell her..but thats my opinion..But this is all speculation..anyone have the solid tea?-Amelia

If they would give the house to me, I would take it. Forget if it's ugly, is it architecturally sound?

I agree. If they like it that's all that matters.

I am a former real estate agent and the only reason I did it in the first place is because I like to look at real estate like a pervert watches porn.. I would agree with the assessment on both the homes, actually..Melissas is what a lot of people in the bizness call a cake decorator house.. You just keep slapping on fancy stuff even if it doesnt go.. Teresas house has always struck me as her being impressed with size, over function.. a lot of big, almost empty rooms with over the top finishes like marble floors and gold fixtures (its almost a classic poor kids idea of a fancy home)… the biggest thing I notice, that makes me wince with Teresas home is the landscaping and in particular the back yard.. the front is ok, but the back yard looks like a hillbillys shack bacyard. tents for sheds, dogs in kennels, crap everywhere… I also think her huge waterfall and koi pond is odd, its too far away and discconnected from the front..Honestly most of the NJ houses are over the top in their own way, Jacs inside looks like an Olive Garden resteraunt gone wild with its over the top Tuscan theme, and Carolines is a bit of a 80s, 90s throwback with its wallpapers and overly formal draperies and spaces..Now those BH girls, KNOW how to decorate..sweetnessnbubba

although, come to think of it, Adrienne Maloofs interior decorating is fairly hideous.. Even Jeff Lewis said so… She kind of fits in with the NJ girls idea of what is opulent… Vegas..Sweetnessnbubba

Not really – it needs to have resale value. Who else in the world would want to live in that monstrosity?

I also love looking at homes and enjoy different styles even when I’ld never choose that style to build or live in.
Both Melissa’s and Teresa’s look wrong. Mostly Melissa’s on the out side. Her fireplace stack placements are wrong and those eyebrows over the lower windows are horrid, weighs the house down. I’ve stated at Melissa’s wondering how the outside could be fixed and I don’t see I without a whole of money.
