Can you imagine what it must be like to have the POTUS at your house and you can’t be there because you have to work? Well that was the situation for Matthew Broderick last night. Broderick has a Broadway lead in Nice Work If You Can Get It and had to be (chose to be) at the performance rather than attend the little soiree at his house Thursday night where guests had to make a $40,000 donation to the Obama campaign to attend. The intimate gathering of fifty Obama supporters included Meryl Streep and Aretha Franklin and Michael Kors and…..my-ex boyfriend, ANDY COHEN! Which is a bit odd to me because he often says things on his show that make me think he is not an Obama supporter at all and merely someone who could afford to attend the exclusive event. Anyhoo, Andy sat directly across from Michelle Obama and tweeted that he played plead the fifth with THE PRESIDENT stating that he did in fact use his plead the fifth option. This should make for a good story when WWHL returns from a two week hiatus! Andy Cohen got the 411! And so the Obama campaign gets a cool two million dollars for what the POTUS called a “date night” with the wife.
Sorry – all the 'promises' and "Change" promises failed the day after he took office. Now, to prove who he is, a bunch of mucky-mucks with more money than they know what to do with (ah, give it to the street people living on the curbs of SJP's street for one) go to a 14.5 million dollar house for an 'intimate' evening…."cough", "cough"…..and he used Air Force One (which costs about 250k to crank up) to get there….gee, that's a way to jump start the economy "Mr. I'm just like you" President…..let's laugh some more while he speaks out of both sides of his mounth….
Wow an Oboma hater…..these are called fundraisers sweetie, all candidates have them. Its how they become president and so he should risk his life and not use airforce one?? Please. Im not even gonna go back and forth about Obama bc I can be very brutal….so to each his own:)Bio Teacher
Although obama is getting a lot of flack for the things that are happening in the economy and our country–He cannot make decisions or stop or start things by himself-its called CONGRESS. If you dont like something that's happening, blame the local people you voted for in your own communities, that roll on up to capitol hill and get paid ALOT of your hard earned tax money to represent your needs and wants and and make decisions about you that help them rather than you–and yet you choose to blame OBAMA rather than yourselves for. one more thing…think about it..if Romney wins, with a high republican population in congress, let me know how that will work out for the little people. Just a thought or two.Fran
Well the two Bush presidents had fortunes. Meg Whitman just hosted an event for millionaire Mitt Romney. What's your point? BTW the economy was very fucked up by 8 years of war spending during tax cuts so it mgjt take more than 4 years and a hostile congress to repair.Maybe you should watch something other than Hannity.
Both Bill Clinton and Obama himself have said repeatedly that if he doesn't get the economy cleared up within the first two years of his first term he would and should be a one term president. Where they wrong when they said that?Frankly this country is in a lot of trouble regardless of who wins the next election.
Not excessive it's called campaign fundraising reform brought to you by Chief Justice Roberts and Citizens United. Unlimited amounts of money can now flow to campaigns through Super PACs and billionaires. Such was not the case as recently as 2008. (I think the change was in 2010 but I use '08 as it was when Obama first ran for president.) So yes, Obama has been hitting the fundraisers frequently, but guess what, so have the Republicans. In fact, the Dems are trailing the Republicans in the amount raised in recent months. I personally find it appalling that the rich and the wealthy will have so much more impact than previously, but it's the law. It's a brave new fundraising world in American politics. Mielebtw Tamara- Love the blot!
If CONGRESS votes against it, the President can't make it happen. Remember, we do have a Republican Congress who will vote against the world if the President puts it on the table. He stepped into office with a huge deficit that he has been trying to clean up.Mitt Romney is rich and only cares about the rich. Forget the middle class and below. Our President did not have a chance to make all the changes.
This blog was about dinner not pres actions so on that note, I have to say sjp looked great! A few years ago with that wild hair and big flowers on her blouses not so much
Even Obama's supporters are disappointed in how little progress his first term effected, but Fran makes a good point: we elect a President, not a King. He can't just command things to happen. (Oh, if were the case.)But to comment on the subject matter of the blog entry let me just say that I find the photo of SJP & Mr. Cohen quite flattering. Wonder what kind of entree $48k buys you?
Obama does not "host" these fundraisers. Rather, people who support him and are willing to put their beliefs into action host these events. Could it be he just has the popular vote a d support and does not have the typical bloodline of generations of "family money" that our majority past presidents have had at their disposal in the past. Hence, he actually has to raise funds in this political game.
wow Andy I must say a little disappointed in you. what a waste of 40 grand. I thought you has better taste than to support a loser who is destroying our county and won't even prove he belongs here himself. too bad.
Meryl Streep and Andy Cohen at the same dinner, It's just not right. NJB
Darling, you of all people should know this was a Jewish thang. Or pretend Jewish thing. I tweeted you the Meryl Streep info. 🙂

Yeah, it's a fundraiser, but guess what? Obama's hosted more fundraisers than the last 5 presidents COMBINED. Excessive much?

Lol should say "blog" Tamara… Typing on the phone inevitably leads to typos…Miele
Obama outspent McCain 2 to 1 in 08. Cry me a river.
Educate yourself and stop wielding random soundbites as your idiot weapon of choice.
Pardon me as I supply you with those pesky things called "facts."
Your "facts" are irrelevant in light of the changes mentioned earlier. Go troll elsewhere.

thank you anon @4:38! i totally agree.
Lol what about the Democratic Congress? Huge majority in the House, filibuster-proof Senate. Did those 2 years not happen?
So he's trying to "clean up" the "huge deficient" by…making it huger? In 4 years this president's spent more than Bush could in 8. Way to go.
*deficitDamn autocorrect.
