Real Housewives of New Jersey: It’s Going Down (the Shore)

April 23, 2012 by tamaratattles 15 Comments

Real Housewives of New Jersey picked up right where we left off  last night, which was weird because all of his was filmed last summer and so much has happened since. We would have seen all this much earlier if not for the mind trust at Bravo giving us the season of RHOA that would never end. So we end up back where we left off watching last October. Everybody hates Teresa. I can understand that. If someone told me after insulting me and my family in a cookbook, that I just need to “read the book good” I would probably punch them in the face.

I was multitasking when I watched last night and while I enjoyed the episode, I wasn’t paying much attention. I remember things like “Juicy Joe” lifting barbells with no shirt on (ew) and Teresa coming in to ask him what they should tell the children about all the tabloids they see about him screwing around on her and possibly doing time for his brilliant criminal act of using fake IDs to acquire a driver’s license since his was suspended. I remember Joe responding with “this is the life you signed up for,” which was meaningful in many ways, none of which Teresa understood.  I remember that Teresa referred to her kids seeing these things in magazines as “family memories.” Indeed they are, Teresa, indeed they are. So is the car ride to “down the shore” where you decide to grill Joe about his infidelities with your foul-mouthed kids in the back seat. Misty water colored memories that will be told and retold in a therapists office for years.

I missed the very beginning of Caroline’s doctor visit. I wanted to hear what symptoms she was seeking treatment for.  With the diagnosis of menopause, I assumed she was at her gynecologist. I assumed wrong. The man on the TV is a physiatrist. Now I’m a fairly serious hypochondriac, and I have never heard of a physiatrist before. Neither has spellcheck, by the way. Apparently, a physiatrist is someone who treats injury or illness that occurs in the muscle, bone or nerves that affects your movement. They specialize in rehabilitation of physical issues related to movement and pain medications.  So that is what the good doctor’s degree is in, but he decided to jump onto the bio-identical hormone replacement bandwagon and devote his practice to treating menopausal women.  His interaction with Caroline, “You are getting old.” didn’t impress me as someone suited for dealing with women in menopause, but okay. So Caroline was at a menopause doctor. The doctor told her she was going through menopause, and Caroline’s response was really, it’s menopause? Well it is a good thing I just happen to be at a hormone doctor then. Um, WTF? I realized I missed some of this scene so, please enlighten me.

The doctor is Dov Rand.  Dr. Rand was arrested last December so I don’t think he is handling Caroline’s follow up. Dr. Rand it seems was taking kickbacks for referring his patients to an MRI center. It seemed that every time he sent someone over for an MRI, someone would come to his office and give him a little white envelope full of cash. That is illegal. So he got arrested.  So did twelve other doctors and a nurse practitioner.  Dr. Rand reportedly told the MRI center that he would have lots more patients once the episode of RHONJ aired where he gives guidance to Caroline. Is it possible he sent Caroline for an MRI? Is this the same doctor that Jacqueline was pimping out on twitter? I dunno.  I wonder if his office is flooded with calls from menopausal women today. He hasn’t had his trial yet, and the website for his practice is still active. So if he seems like your kind of doctor, and you are in New Jersey, you can probably still get an appointment.

Leave me your thoughts in comments. And if you heard what Caroline said to the doctor about her symptoms, I’m dying to know.

I'm constantly amazed that two people can view the same thing and come away with completely different perceptions.See, I don't think Teresa said anything in her cookbook that was any worse than the things these people consistently say on camera about her.I saw one tweet where the person felt that when Bravo highlighted the remark in the cookbook about the stripper carwash its intention was to bolster Caroline. Huh? The quote very clearly said that Teresa didn't think stripper carwasher was a good career path for girls. How that insults Caro's baby children is beyond me.If caro wants her " children" protected from the general bloodletting, tell them to can the "jokes" at tersa's expense. Jealous Italian, anyone?

Caroline's sons wanted to open up a stripper carwash way back on Season 1. It was a dig at her sons. If it is a cookbook I don't see the relevance of having those "jokes" about anyone in the book in the first place. She wanted to sell books and she did it at her friends expense. I mean she didnt even let them know she was putting the "jokes" in the book.

Saying "Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be stripper carwashers" ain't a dig, but even if it was, how are the Manzo's exempt? You do realize they don't warn Teresa when they're going to snark at her, right? Third grade words, anyone?

"You're old." Perhaps one of the funniest moments on teevee. No doctor that didn't want a raving menopausal women coming at him across the desk would EVER say that…unless he was on teevee. Stupid set up moment.I hate that I'm feeling a bit sorry for Teresa. She's not exactly sitting back and hoping for the best – she's out hustling her books and tanning salons. I give her that. She's dumb as a brick but at least she's doing SOMETHING. Caroline and her lisp can go away any time now.

Season just started and Im already sick of Caroline. What Tre wrote in the book was not a dig to Caroline's baby boys. Tre I think was using her RHONJ platform to sell books, not stupid if you ask me. Cookbook would be boring if all it had was recipes. I dont understand why Melissa and Joe are always talking about their sex life. Its a chronic topic for this couple. I feel so bad for Tre and I always love to watch these guys you never know what is going to happen and because its so unpredictable it makes me want to watch Tre and Joe more. They make me laugh too. I do notice that Tre is on edge and watches everything she says and is worried about how she is going to be looked at by everyone. When her bro comes to her to offer her money you can tell she is embarrassed and it seems like everyone on the show is trying to bust her ego. Not nice!! Kathy is a snooze fest she needs to keep bring her Sista Rosie in the scenes she is in.

I see RHONJ becoming "old" soon. Why are they STILL talking about a book released a good year before this was filmed. Rehashing old topics, and Teresa vs. Melissa, Melissa vs. Teresa, is going to get old and boring. Teresa's family drama was only good for one season. Andy, needs to recast.

Bravo editing can make anyone look bad, or good, whatever makes for better reality. I'm SO over this family squabble s*it. Given Tre's past history with her family why is everyone so surprised she put digs at them in the cookbook?? Really? My biggest question is, does Tre stay with Joe because she's afraid of leaving him and the backlash or is she flat out ignorant? Is she really in denial? I'm all for loyalty to your spouse – but cheating, lying, criminal activity, etc. should have opened her eyes by now.

Teresa & the girls would do ok if Joe went away for 10 years – looks like she is busting her butt supporting them all anyway… she would save $ by cutting him off… wonder how his legal fees are being paid or if he's going to pull a she by shedon'tpay……

Apparently RHONJ loves book controversies. While I don't see anything wrong with Theresa's book, she could have notified her "friends" that she was putting them in the book. To be honest the comments I heard them making about her were far worse than what she's put in the book or said.. Does everyone remember the line, "I think we need to burn the b*tch at the stake".. I dont know if i can handle this season.. I'm starting not to like Caroline and her "The Godmother" complex

Im not a fan of Caroline either. I love her kids they turned out well and they make me laugh but Caroline is getting sick with her "Queen" attitude that she carries and the fact that she knows everything and has the best advice for everyone. Every Caroline's voice is so godly. You can tell in her family house it is her way or now way. Take it or you wont get any allowance haha
