Atlanta resident, Cee Lo Green provided the entertainment at one of several fundraisers for Obama last Friday. Obama went to two fundraisers in Chicago before coming to Atlanta last Friday evening for three very expensive ones here. Two of those were hosted by Tyler Perry. One was at his home. It was an intimate gathering of 60 of his closest friends who could afford the $35,000 donation required. The other was held at his studios. There were 1.000 supporters invited to that appearance. Tickets were for the most part, $500. Cee Lo Green was the entertainment. Cee Lo sang his hit song “Forget You”. Only that is not really the name of the song. He sang the unedited version while flipping off the crowd of Obama supporters. Apparently, Obama was not actually present during the performance. Does that make a difference? Thoughts?
Oddly, the last time Cee Lo was creating controversy over a performance he raised the public ire by changing the words to John Lennon’s Imagine from “nothing to kill or die for / and no religion too” to “nothing to kill or die for / and all religion’s true” at a New Year’s Eve performance in Time Square. I guess he wasn’t feeling he religious vibe last Friday. After receiving criticism for his Obama performance on twitter, Cee Lo replied that “it was a mistake” and “don’t get all saint on me.”
I think Ceelo's actions were completely inappropriate. Especially since he was on #WWHL the prior week and told Andy Cohen that he thought it was wrong for Nicki Minaj to have given the finger to the crowd during the halftime show at the Superbowl. Plus this was for the President (hopefully not for long). NJB
