Oprah Interviews Bobbi Kristina Tonight on OWN; Bobbi Kristina Wants to Change Her Name

March 11, 2012 by tamaratattles 7 Comments

Tonight at 9 p.m. Oprah hopes to attract some new viewers to OWN with her interview with Bobbi Kristina Brown, Gary Houston (Whitney’s brother) and his wife Patricia. This interview has received the most publicity of anything on OWN since the network began. Unfortunately, it is up against some really stiff competition against Desperate Housewives on ABC , The Good Wife on CBS, Celebrity Apprentice on NBC, Family Guy on Fox and Bravo’s most successful show, The Real Housewives of Atlanta all airing at the same time. It will be interesting to see how the ratings pan out for tonight.

In the interview, Patricia, who was also Whitney’s manager talks about the substance abuse, and Whitney’s love life saying Whitney was “looking for love in all the wrong places.” Patricia also doesn’t have anything negative to say about Bobby Brown and says that blaming Bobby for introducing Whitney to drugs would not be an accurate assessment of that situation. Patricia also shares her side of what happened on at the pre-grammy party that she attended with Whitney two days before her death. Patricia says she went with Whitney because she was worried. we’ll have to tune in to hear what she says happened at the party to get her all worked up.

In other related news today TMZ is reporting that Bobbi Kristina Brown, who goes by Krissi, wants to officially change her name to Kristina Houston. TMZ’s source says Krissi has wanted the name change since the divorce to avoid the association with her father, but Whitney refused to allow it. Krissi was 14 at the time of the divorce.

I missed how old Krissi is now, but I assume 'of age.' Instead of SAYING she wants to change her name – STFU and just do it. Talking about it to the media is just a passive-aggressive way of being a bitch to her father. What does she want? Him to beg her not to do it?God I hope this family fades into the sunset. I'm tired of the glamorization of a drug addict.WD

The article stated that a "source" informed them that she intends to change her name. We don't know if it's true or not, besides I doubt very seriously if she wants him to beg her for anything. As for you and your obvious disdain for this entire situation, why not choose not to read or watch anything about Whitney, her daughter, family, etc.? No one has a gun to your head forcing you and it will keep you from becoming so riled up about something that doesn't concern you unless you let it.

I found it so VERY strange that Oprah conducted her interview with Bobbi Kristini, just standing there. It was so weird…it gave me pain and anxiety to watch them stand there and talk so awkwardly. Grrrr!

As far as Bobbi Kristina wanting to change her name – until it comes directly from her mouth or actual legal papers are filed I wouldn't put too much weight on an "anonymous source". There's always so much speculation and rumors that get repeated as truth.I think that Oprah conducted the interview with BK standing up to try to keep it relaxed and informal; more like a casual conversation rather than a sit down Q&A. I'm not a big fan of Oprah and unfortunately, that interview was probably the only time I tune in to her show; however, I think she handled the whole interview with respect.

While I understand the skepticism regarding inside sources,TMZ has a stellar reputation when it comes to them. They are pretty much the ONLY site I believe when they site sources. I have had and still have some very good sources (take the Nene Leakes on Glee story I broke through a source as an example). For that reason, I tend to believe the source. As for the standing interview I thought it was awkward and bizarre. I also found Kristina's demeanor to be uncharacteristic of someone whose mother had just died. That section of the show, Kristina's interview seemed very odd to me. That's my take, your mileage may vary.

She doesn't seem to be grieving well at all…I think she thinks the world expects her to put on a brave face, so she came out and performed but I think she broke down after which is why we never saw her again….she's just putting up a front but you can see she is hurting and misses her mom dearly. What I saw was a broken down little girl who was very very trying hard to be brave…

I too read TMZ and they are my "go to" for celebrity news. My thoughts regarding their reliability were confirmed when I started seeing regular news sources quoting stories from TMZ.However, they have had a few misses. They are not 100%; not saying that they knowingly report false stories or post unsupported stories; just that some stories are not on point.A story like this is PERFECTLY ripe for controversy/negativity, etc. (we seem to LOVE when someone gets dissed, feelings hurt, etc); hence the skepticism.
