Meg Ryan and John Mellencamp Out Enjoying the Warm Atlanta Weather

December 15, 2011 by tamaratattles 5 Comments

Meg Ryan and John Cougar Mellencamp are still being sighted all over midtown Atlanta this week. The couple is in town for a two week long developmental workshop with the cast of Ghost Brothers of Darkland County. The musical, which will premiere at the Alliance Theatre in April was written by Stephen King and features the music of Mellencamp.

It’s the story of two teen-aged brothers who get drunk at a dance, end up taking a girl to a cabin, where they drink even more and have an accident with gun which leads to a fatal car accident.

The actors workshop will be finishing up this week so you can be on the lookout for the other actors this week as well. Tony Award-winning actor Shuler Hensley (“Oklahoma!,” “Young Frankenstein” and “Tarzan”) and Tony nominee Emily Skinner (“Billy Elliott: The Musical,” “The Full Monty” and “Side Show”) are the leads in the show. The cast includes blues musician and film actor Jake La Botz; Broadway star and recording artist Justin Guarini (“Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown,” “American Idiot” and first runner-up in the first season of “American Idol”); actor and writer Lucas Kavner; actor and songwriter Kate Ferber (“One Child Born: The Music of Laura Nyro”); stage and screen actor Christopher Morgan; and country music singer Dale Watson. Other cast members include Peter Albrink, Kylie Brown, Lori Beth Edgeman, Gwen Hughes, Joe Jung, Joe Knezevich, Rob Lawhon, Royce Mann, and Travis Smith. [source: www.mellencamp.com ]

Thanks! This [email protected] sounds stellar. Is Meg in the play or is she here to support John?

Meg Ryan is not in this play. The cast has already been announced She is just there to accompany her BF. She also has relatives living in the area. This musical sounds good. I LOVE Stephen King's word.
