I just got finished telling a reader that I was not going to cover the Eddie Long situation, but now that she has withdrawn her petition for divorce the day after filing it, I suppose I will put it out there for y’all to talk about. For those of you not from Atlanta, you can read Eddie Long’s story here as it makes me sick to think about. I don’t do well with “preachers” who are child molesters.
This was the statement Vanessa made yesterday.
I admit I am now very curious why Vanessa finally decided to file yesterday and what changed her mind today. If I am not mistaken the church issued a statement a while back that rumors of a divorce were false. What do you think is going on here?
Here is her statement from today.
“Upon prayerful reflection, I have reconsidered and plan to withdraw my petition for divorce from my husband, Bishop Eddie L. Long. I love my husband. I believe in him and admire his strength, and courage. My filing followed years of attacks in the media that frustrated and overwhelmed me. I love my family and church family, New Birth Missionary Baptist Church. Therefore, my husband and I have mutually agreed to find healing from these attacks. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time.”
That is a major turnaround in 24 hours. Who knows the real tea here? I really want to know what is going on with Vanessa.
Maybe she decided there was enough beating the bishop already?
Divorce is something that we can't control since it's connected by feelings. Thanks.
You have to admire that strength and practicality. Most people would normally just run away but she decided to honor her vows and face the music. It's also smart because she avoided a lot of legal tussles for the assets.
