As part of the Westminster Schools Beyond the Gate Series, Atlanta native Ed Helms returned to his Alma Mater today to speak in the McCain Chapel to students and alumni. Helms who stars as Andy Bernard in The Office, and co-star Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin Malone are both graduates of the Westminister Schools. Helms graduated in 1992 and Bernard a year earlier in 1991. In addition to Helms’ comedic acting experience, he is a talented musician who plays guitar, sitar, banjo and piano.
On this visit to Westminister, Helms spoke for about an hour from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. He answered audience questions about his high school years saying he was into kayaking and geology. He talked about his role on The Office and also about working with the tigers on The Hangover . He closed out his presentation by moving to the piano where he played his junior high recitals and played Tyson’s Tiger Song with a few modifications in case there was anyone there that had not seen the movie and didn’t know the end of the song. The whole deal was aired live on WCAT and will be available on demand. If you are an Ed Helms fan then click the link and check it out!
