I admit it. I’ve gotten lazy during this whole Jodi Arias Trial. All I really had to do was put up a daily update and sit back and wait for folks to show up and discuss it to death in the comments. I suspect that a lot of my sources are busy with the trial too because there hasn’t been that much housewives stuff reported to me. To carry on with my lazy reporting, I’m going to do a hodge-podge of housewives updates here. Hopefully, my housewives fans are still out there and haven’t completely given up on me! How did I not now that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was an educated, intelligent author? I have been enjoying watching him and other minor celebrities (he’s the only household name on the show, the others are…um..not) on Splash! There, I said it. For reasons I am not very clear on, Kareem has written a nearly 3000 word article for HuffPo about the real housewives. It’s interesting. But for today’s too long, didn’t read, Internet user, I will include some of my favorite parts below for those who don’t want to read the whole thing. And for the new folks that like reading such things I will direct you to another post I made, which is one of my favorites about Camille Paglia’s take on The Real Housewives franchises. After that story was brought to Bravo’s attention, Andy had Camille on WWHL. I’m predicting we see Karrem on WWHL soon.
EDIT: Kareem’s article is quite lengthy. It is not my intention to twist the intent of his writing to conform to my perceptions of it. I encourage you all to go to the link and read the entire thing and not rely on my extractions and commentary as representative of his opinion or overall assessment. I simply picked the most interesting points he made from my perspective to review. Your interpretations may vary widely.
Okay first you need to pick your favorite housewife. Sure, it’s like picking your favorite serial killer, but just do it. Think really hard. Choose one. Got it? Okay now click through for your horoscope. Oh and sorry about your luck. This little gem is from ButYoureLikeReallyPretty.com which is a great place to look around on a dreary Sunday when you are trying to avoid thinking about the fact you have to go to work tomorrow. So go check it out. This is just the tip of the delicious iceberg. You can follow the artist there at @goRyanGo AND he’s going to be a bartender on WWHL! Continue reading »
Tonight Andy has 99 problems and they are all bitches, it’s called the Bravo upfronts! It seems like just yesterday that Sheree Whitfield got fired just before the Bravo Upfronts. But in reality that was a full year ago. Last year at this time, the upfronts party was televised on WWHL. That was a straight up disaster! But live party or no, the upfronts are usually very informative. We can tell who is coming back for another season by who shows up. Here is the tea…
UPDATE: Kim Richards and Heather Dubrow were both reportedly absent from upfronts. No idea if they had a note. Did Heather have a prior commitment or did she quit mid-season a la Kim Zolciak? (Update again, Heather says she has spring break with the kids already planned. Didn’t Kim Z already use that excuse once?) Has Kim Richards finally had enough? Or is this yet another accommodation? My favorite Miami Herald writer, Lesley Abravanel has contacted Lisa Hochstein for a short interview about the lawsuit that recently came to light where Lisa sues a blog commenter. According to Lisa she is aquainted with the person who made the libelous comment and that is what caused her to sue. Lisa tells The Herald, “This was filed awhile ago, and somehow it surfaced. This isn’t something I was going to publicize. It’s not the kind of exposure I was looking to get. I do want to put out there that I get it, that I’m out there on TV and there’s gonna be anonymous bloggers and posters who will say what they want about me.” Continue reading »
Very few things on the Internet surprise me anymore, but today’s Real House of Miami news has left me a bit dumbfounded. When Stoopid Housewives was sued by a media group for copyright infringement, I sort of got it. The more I read about that case, the more it seemed that the plaintiffs were being a bit vindictive. SH took the pictures down when they asked her too. What is really the point of dragging her into the court system and ripping away her anonymity? Sure the have legal standing, but really? It seems like overkill to me. We all dislike it when our content gets stolen but is it really necessary to drag small time bloggers into court over a few pictures at a party?
Then today, Lisa Hochstein decides to sue a COMMENTER on WetPaint about negative comment about her? Oh Lisa. According to TMZ, “Hochstein recently filed a lawsuit against a woman named Jessica Lederman – claiming she suffered “severe emotional distress” after Jessica blasted her in the comment section of an entertainment news website. According to docs, Jessica wrote “Lisa was an escort who also did soft porn in Vegas” … in response to an article about Lisa joining the “Real Housewives” franchise.. But Hochstein says it’s a bold-faced lie and that she’s never been in the escort business or done soft core porn in Las Vegas. Hochstein claims Jessica’s remark damaged her reputation and threatened both her employment and social life.” Continue reading »

Ana Quincoceses Bravo blog about the reunion is very enlightening. It’s well-known that Bravo likes to have a target at certain filming events and the reunion is never an exception. It seems this season, the target turned the tables. Sadly, the Purveyors of Pop are fans of people like Thomas Kramer and Joe Francis so they had the task of trying to save Lea’s behind with editing. I’d like a ten week special called Real Housewives of Miami reunion uncensored were they just run the thing as raw footage.
“Weeks before the reunion I started hearing that Lea was boasting about town that she was “coming after me at the reunion.” I was taken aback because we had never had much conflict. I knew she was upset about my defending Marysol but there was certainly no need for retaliation of that magnitude. There is a saying in Spanish, “Guerra avisada no mata soldados.” It means that when you announce a war ahead of time you don’t get to kill any soldiers. And so I prepared. This soldier would not go down without a fight. It didn’t take very long and I didn’t resort to unethical means or ultra-sleuthing to discover anything. It was all there for the taking to anyone who spent a few minutes researching. I tucked all my findings neatly into the now infamous file folder and hoped I wouldn’t have to use it.”
I’m curious what was in the folder. I assume it is how she met her husband. Her husbands rather heinous clients. The way she …shall we say wear the pants…in the family. Lord knows what else. Continue reading »
SIGH. WordPress ate my first paragraph. And the photo. I honestly can’t even remember what it was about. Stupid WordPress. Oh I remember Lea jumping up and yelling at Ana about some minor bit of nothing. Lea loved to jump up and point her finger at Ana a lot this episode.
Lots of boring hashing out of the slap between Adriana and Joanna at Lisa’s party. Andy asks Adriana why she keeps calling Joanna a call girl. My guess would be because she is, but Adriana tries to say that she doesn’t but Joanna jumps in to point out that those call girl website just used her photo without permission. Joanna also says that people should not belittle her for her tickle fetish videos. Lea tries to jump and say if you wouldn’t make an allegation under oath then you shouldn’t say it. It was a weird out of place interjection. Good Lord Lea’s voice is schreechy. Ana says that Lea brought Joe Francis to the party specifically to humiliate Joanna and her sister. Duh! However, Lea jumps up off the couch again screaming at Ana about lies and character assasination and demands truth serum and says she will swear under oath that she did not know Joe was planning anything untoward. Ana says the show is not called The Old and the Restless and makes more age jokes at Lea’s expense.
Alexia is out on the couch. Andy mentions that Alexia chose not to be a full-time housewife because of her son’s accident. Alexia talks about Frankie’s accident saying that he was not expected to live, and later he was expected to be in a vegetative state for the rest of his life, however he has made tremendous progress and can now walk and talk and feed himself. Alexia planning to try to get him back into school in January. Lots of tears. Andy brings up Peter getting arrested and asks about what happened. Alexia begins by saying that Peter is an introvert who had a very difficult time coping with Frankie’s accident. Alexia tries to avoid saying what Peter did and Andy points out that Peter hit a homeless man. Alexia says what her son did was wrong and she does not condone it Alexia breaks down sobbing. Marysol is sobbing. Alexia doesn’t want to talk about it so of course, Andy starts rattling off viewer questions on the subject.
The first viewer question is about why Peter pled ‘not guilty’ despite the fact that he taped the entire thing and put it on Youtube. Alexia says she can’t really answer for the Peter regarding the legal decisions he made and she begins to rattle off his sentencing which is basically community service. We are spending way too much time on this.
I’m bored. I think we are talking about Karent. Everyone is giving stories of their take on the Rodolpho storyline. Alexia seems particularly angry with Karent. Andy is going in on Alexia. Now he is asking what Alexia thought about the allegations that Herman is gay. Now Ana says that everyone in Miami thinks Rodolpho is gay. Lea keeps making weird legal analogies and talking about throwing a skunk in the jury room. Lea is talking about Marysol’s relationship being fake. Andy asks if Lisa was a dancer or a stripper when she lived in Vegas. Lisa says of course not. Lisa was in Playboy and she regrets it. Joanna jumps in to say she has two covers on Playboy and she is very proud of them.
It’s time for Mama Elsa. Andy is gushing as he introduces her reel. Mama Elsa says that is Joanna is a fresh young woman with no manners. Elsa says she likes Lea but when she started to beat down Marysol, that hurt me. Mama Elsa says she no longer associates with Thomas and the he never apologized. Andy asks about Elsa’s facial surgery. Elsa says she would like to get it fixed but is afraid to have more surgery. Andy asks why Elsa called Obama and animal. Elsa says she didn’t. She says why would she do that? And that she loves Michele Obama. Mama says she never calls anyone an animal except her husband. Elsa is divorcing her husband and likes intelligent men.
The replay the flower ceremony from the end of the season. Ana is crying after watching the divorce scenes. Andy says it seems like she is still in love with him, Ana says not “in love” but that she will always be very close with him. Marysol says she is putting her divorce behind her. Adriana is “probably” getting married in the spring. Joanna says she is planning her fairytale wedding. Lisa is continuing to try to have children. Karent is doing the single life one day at a time. Andy asks Lea what her predictions for the group are. Lea says she treats people better than they treat her. Lea is fake crying. It’s pretty funny.
That’s a wrap. I think part one was better than part two. What did y’all think?
If the housewives selling shapewear and being brand ambassadors for sugary wines and flavored vodkas isn’t bad enough, now we have their mommas and husbands selling coffee. Mama Elsa has had some sort of online spin-off on Bravo for a while now. I haven’t watched it. I hate the Bravo video viewer. She also has her own website where she hawks “Cuban coffee” for six bucks a bag. The website describes Havana Elsa coffee as “Comprised from the highest quality of rich coffee beans derived from Africa, Central America and South America, Havana Elsa combines the perfect balance of ingredients to generate a full, flavorful and smooth premium blend. The coffee beans are finely ground and blended to ensure optimal flavor extraction and freshness. The signature trademark of this savory espresso is the delicious sweet crema (cream) that makes every cup the ultimate experience.” There is no mention of the type of beans used. The bag just says it’s 100% coffee. I’m assuming it’s robusta since it’s an expresso blend. Oh, you can also get Mama Elsa ringtones at her site. I dunno what that’s about.
But Mama Elsa has a competitor in the java market…. Continue reading »
