Back at the end of May, Nene gave this interview to Wendy Williams. In the interview Nene point blank denies that Kenya Moore was a new housewife. The scene at the Bailey Agency was filmed in early May. The party scene we saw last episode was filmed June 7th. In the interview Nene denies that Kenya is a housewife and denies that she knows her, but at the same she is very clear that she doesn’t like her.
Way back in April, I was told by a very reliable source in LA that Nene herself had recommended Kenya Moore for the show and that they knew each other slightly through Omarosa who introduced them at the Essence Music Festival. Nene has adamantly denied knowing Kenya or having anything to do with her casting. I feel like something went on between these two back in May. Or maybe she is just distancing herself as part of her new PR program?
This morning Wendy Williams a played a great clip from The New Normal before bringing out Nene. Nene’s acting is really improving on that show. I’m still not sure the show will make it, but if it doesn’t it won’t be because of Nene. She’s holding her own in a cast of serious actors. Nene looked stunning in an orange dress.
The two talk about Wendy’s short wig and Nene says her hair is not a wig although people think it is. Wendy asked why Nene wasn’t in the second episode of The New Normal and Nene says she was shooting RHOA at the same time. She assures everyone that she is “a regular” on the show and we will see a lot of her this season. Nene has been telling everyone who will listen that after being on Glee, Ryan Murphy wrote the part of Roxy on The New Normal just for her. Now she has a whole nuther story. Apparently, when she first read the script she thought Roxy was a white woman. She called her manager and he told her she is supposed to read the script with “no color.” She still thought her character was white, so she called Ryan and he promised to fix it. This story is interesting only in that it is the opposite of what she has been saying all along. But it really doesn’t matter either way. Continue reading
Nene Leakes was on a couple of shows today. First Wendy Williams, then Glee. Let’s discuss. This morning my damn yard guy shows up RIGHT DURING THE NENE INTERVIEW! le sigh. So I had to take enough time to say, “yes, please do everything” (well we know that is not what I really said, but anyway, it all got done). So a few of you wanted to know what I thought about Nene saying that “Kenya Moore is not a new housewife” on WW today. So here it is. She didn’t say that. Nene continued with her whole “I don’t know her” thing which is a lie. Then she said ” I still haven’t seen her” in response to WW asking if she was on the show. None of that is important. My source is golden. My source says that Nene has been campaigning for Kenya for ages. I have never been let down by this source. Also, I know other sites are saying filming has started, but … I don’t think much if any shooting has happened. I’m still saying you will see Kenya who just very recently followed and is followed by Nene on twitter. Y’all believe what you want.
On Glee tonight, Roz had a short scene with Sue Sylvester but what really impressed me was seeing her name in the opening credits of the Glee finale. I’m not “team anyone” but it did irk me that WW referred to Nene as a “guest star.” She is not a guest star, she has a recurring role which is way better. Sometimes you need to just recognize. I think WW is jealous of Nene and I was surprised that Nene came bearing gifts and being all professional considering how WW seems to slam Nene when she is not around. I honestly think that Nene not copping to the Kenya Moore thing was her getting back at WW. We shall see. At any rate, it’s clear that Ryan Murphy loves
him some Nene. Nene said on WW today that she did not have to audition for the role of Rocky on The New Normal
and I do believe that. Nene’s acting still needs a bit of work, but there is no better way to do that than to be on yet another primetime show. She just needs some experience and a bit of coaching. I’m not convinced that she will be a Hollywood star, but she is, and that is half the battle.
