I am so excited for this finale, I am going to take forever to recap because I don’t want to take my eyes off the screen long enough to type. THIS SHOW IS SO GOOD. We start with everyone getting ready for the wedding. We are going to go back to Maddie’s childhood to try to figure out what led her to this bizarre life of crime.
Erza interrupts her thoughts to come try to assess if she is really in this with him or if she is going to “screw them over again.” Wait, last week we were led to believe that these two were the only ones committed to each other. Le sigh. Perhaps as a sign on of her loyalty she tells her childhood stories to Erza as he buttons up all the tiny buttons on the back of wedding dress 27.
Her taking on other identities apparently began when she pretended to be someone else to her long-lost cousin. This led to her losing her virginity. With her cousin. She seemed to be more excited about duping the cousin than the actual act.
Dick is a valet at the wedding so that he can ready the getaway car. The FBI has hired extras to make the wedding look legit to the doctor. I would totally take a paid gig as a wedding seat filler. I love weddings. I don’t want to be in them, but I like to watch and enjoy an open bar.
Jules and the hot lesbian FBI chick have an awkward moment where Jules tries to get affectionate and gets rebuffed because the FBI has cameras on everyone. I don’t understand why Maddie is standing in some nursery room behind the FBI man. I guess she is going to ID “the doctor.” That is exactly what she did.
Saffron looks beautiful going down the aisle. On her way she passes Dick and he sees Alice in her dress, Jules sees CiCi in her rock and roll gown (even though they eloped) and Ezra sees pretty little Belgian Ava in her wedding dress. They are all three still in love.
Why would the doctor come to the wedding for the drop? Couldn’t he just come pick it up from Max on the boat? Why am I thinking about this now? Also, I didn’t pay a lot of attention to Richard’s valet role. Apparently the point is to disable the FBI cars and leave Max’s car ready to go. Wouldn’t the FBI have cameras in the parking lot as well? Sorry, I don’t know what is wrong with me tonight.
Because Richard is an idiot, he somehow sets off a car alarm during the wedding. Yet, somehow the crisis is averted.
The main thing wrong with this ceremony is the preacher asked Saffron to make her vows first. That is wrong. The guy always goes first.
It’s off to the reception with everyone.
For some reason Maddie accuses Patrick of being married in his real life. She wonders if he has kids. He doesn’t seem to confirm or deny this. Is she just fishing?
I suppose the doctor is supposed to really care that Maddie is fake marrying someone again. Does he normally come to the ceremony? When the doctor approaches the squabbling couple, he is introduced as Saffron’s Uncle Albert.
Meanwhile, Jules has had all she can take of love and marriage so she has returned to the gift room to put some final touches on her stupid art project. As she is gluing down a piece her secret FBI lover walks in to check up on her. She puts her glue gun or whatever down on a piece of cloth and follows FBI sis over to an area that is out of camera shot. They start exchanging flirtation when the guy watching the camera freaks out because the damn art project has caught on fire. He’s screaming at her to save the money. Is Jules intentionally being useless in putting out the fire? Did she do this on purpose? I suppose so since she knows FBI girl is FBI. This must be her role in the money swap, right?
The star-crossed lesbians take the “art project” out to the dump. Dick comes and gets the suitcase from the secret compartment while Jules distracts FBI sis. The scene with these two is dark comedy which has been great all season, BUT WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF A SERIOUS THING HERE NOW and I don’t have time for the jokes!
Maddie drags Ezra back into the chapel to talk. She he had told her earlier that he knew what she really liked about running cons on people. She was so intrigued by that apparently, that she dragged him to the church altar to talk about it.
Ezra tells her that she can’t really open up to people. She likes being loved without having to love anyone back. No matter what she does, she is still that same little girl sitting in her room in Pottsville, pretending.
The doctor (Max) leaves the reception and the FBI all get into position. To the FBI it looks like he didn’t take the briefcase, but Dick put it in his trunk. He’s leaving but the FBI decides to follow him anyway, but all of their calls have been disabled by Dick. They look ridiculous standing around trying to start their cars.
Patrick goes to find Maddie. She and Ezra are making out in the chapel. All part of the set up? I’m so confused. Maddie makes a run for it. It’s a scene from Runaway Bride as she runs down to a pier and takes off in a boat. On a sign on the dock in red lipstick it says, wwwMrsPatrickCambellcom. He knows he’s been had. As he is watching his video goodbye on the website, which is nearly word for word the same as everyone else’s message, Maddie runs into a house where Jules runs out in the same wedding dress to be the decoy. She takes off on the boat. She changes clothes on the boat and when she gets off the dock, cops ask her if she has seen a woman in a wedding dress. She walks away carrying the suitcase.
The cops pull Max over thinking they have the doctor, but he is already back to looking like Max and they let him go.
The trio of victims reunite at the Pinehurst Bus Station. They are buying five tickets to somewhere. Apparently they think Max and Maddie will show up to take the bus with them.
Max calls Maddie to tell her that the bunglers are at the bus station waiting for them. He has the money, he needs her to go get the ring and meet at the rendezvous point.
Auntie FBI opens up her briefcase and the money is all there. Max opens his and there is a brick and a note that says, “This is for Sally, Bye Bye Maxie…”
As the lesbian FBI chick says, “What the heck is going on?”
Auntie FBI lady asks where the ring is. Patrick says it is safe. Then we see Maddie open up the safe to find it empty.
The TOV realize that no one is coming and get on the bus. But they would not have made a point to mention the five tickets if they were not going to be used. Maddie watches them get on the bus from a car across the street.
The TOV sits on the very back row of the bus, that just happens to be five seats wide. Ezra convinces them that they are all going to be fine. They had a big adventure, it will be their closure and they will all just go on with life. It’s finally over. Ezra pulls out the ring and puts it on Jules’ finger. As it turns out he went to Patrick’s place and got the ring before the wedding.
And then, Maddie gets on the bus. Well, I thought that was going to happen, but it didn’t. She stood there and watched them all ride off into the sunset. She kind of looked happy for them to be getting away.
OMG! It’s Lenny! She was just about to off someone for not doing their job. But the Dr.calls. She can tell it’s him because Bugs Bunny shows up on her phone screen. So of course she answers, “What’s Up Doc?” He tells her they have a problem in Seattle. She needs to go find Max and Maddie before the Feds do and “those three imposters, too!” Wait what? What three imposters? The bunglers aren’t imposters. Are they?
That was good! I am still a bit confused though. Talk to me Imposters friends.
