The day after Women’s Empowerment Day, which Kim Richards likely spent arguing with Lisa Rinna while taping the RHOBH reunion, Kim Richards was back in court.
Kim Richards probation terms involving 30 hours of community labor (hard labor) were ordered by the judge in the Beverly Hotel case in September of 2015. Her probation conditions for the Target shoplifting case were for community service. The community labor versus community service has been confusing because two judges in two jurisdictions did the sentencing.
Kim Richards got off easy on her sentencing for public drunkenness at The Beverly Hotel and for her shoplifting at Target. Her Target sentence was pretty much NOTHING other than saying she had to do what the judge in the Beverly Hotel sentence said.
At some point it appears that due to her “foot injury” in September of 2015 (Did she roll the Target basket over her foot while making off with $600 worth of stickers and kids toys?) the judge eventually agreed to a sentence of 300 hours of community service as opposed to thirty days of community labor. She has failed to meet her community service requires as of today.
On March 10, 2017, Richards went before Commissioner Jane Godfrey for yet another probation modification hearing. At that time her probation was modified to 450 community service hours. Godfrey told her if the hours weren’t completed at Midnight Mission by September 7th she could face jail time according to E!.
To complete 450 hours of service on a M-F eight-hour work day would take nearly three months. There are a variety of opportunities for Kim at the mission including, meal service in the kitchen, special event preparation, sorting clothing and assisting in distribution, making food boxes and hygiene kits and general clean-up and painting. The commissioner has given her six months. If she worked two and a half hours every single day with no days off over those 6 months she could complete her time. Given the fact that she has not completed her service requirements in the past year and a half, I expect to see her back in court on September 7th. I also expect her to get another pass and another chance.
I’ve spent the couple of years defending Kim Richards. It was a big mistake for her to be back on RHOBH this season and have her addiction and criminal history replayed on television. She didn’t come off as someone working a program. She clearly hasn’t let go of her resentments, and she seems to have many of those. I hope she gets serious about staying out of jail. However, it seems every non-compliance is met with an extension. That is not really giving her any motivation to comply.
I think this whole situation needs to go the way of Yolanda and her fake lymeopause. Bring back the lighthearted bickering and fabulous trips please, RHOBH.
