I don’t meant to say that I have been looking forward to Abby’s sentencing tomorrow; however, I was ready to get it over with. Sentencing has been pushed so many times for this case and I can’t imagine how Abby survives it. Yesterday, Deadline exclusively reported that tomorrow’s sentencing has been cancelled. It has not been rescheduled yet.
What is interesting is that it was the government that asked for the postponement with less than 48 hours to go. Wonder why they did that? Surely they don’t have new information at this point. Did Abby’s lawyers get some sort of ruling in a separate court to admit the ruling from the United States v. Free? II have not read the ruling on that case. I got busy with other things and it is kind of hard to locate.
Basically, that case is going to set a precedent on zero loss bankruptcies that could greatly reduce her sentence and keep her out of prison. A zero loss bankruptcy is one where none of her debts are discharged and she just works out and extension on repaying her debt. The basis of the Free case is that because no one was harmed by the hidden assets in her bankruptcy, prison time is not appropriate. The Feds have been fighting for her to do prison time.
So once again, it’s wait and see for Abby Lee… I’ll let you know if I hear anything.
