Julianne Wainstein’s Husband Filed For Divorce !

Yet another “real housewife” marriage has ended in divorce. After just one season on RHONY, Jules Wainstein’s husband Michael, filed for divorce on May 16, Life & Style magazine has exclusively reported.

According to their reports, Jules caught Michael cheating and he then filed for the divorce.

By my count, this makes Jules Wainstein the twenty-second housewife to divorce joining  these four cast members and seventeen from other franchises:  Ramona Singer, Bethenny Frankel, LuAnn de Lesseps,Vicki Gunvalson, Lynne Curtin, Jeana Keough, ,Camille Grammer, Adrienne Maloof, Taylor Armstrong, Yolanda Hadid, Nene Leakes,  Porsha Williams, DeShawn Snow, Cynthia Bailey, Phaedra Parks, Lisa Wu,Dina Manzo, Marysol Patton, Mary Schmidt Amons, Michaele Salahi, Catherine Ommanney, Stacie Scott Turner.

Fun fact: Every single marriage on Real Housewives of DC ended in divorce. This leaves us with no married women on RHONY.

Jules has been shown on her Instagram spending a lot of time with her family. He father, who seems to be in good health has been in NYC spending time with here.

More information on the details will likely begin to come out now. Michael has been absent from Jules Instagram for quite some time showing only photos of her with her kids and her family. This news also explains her very short blogs on the episodes as of late.

It seems as though there were marital issues all along between these two. I am sure Andy will ask plenty of questions about it when the reunion films.

I wonder if this helps or hurts her chances for a season two?

Watching this season I got the impression he kind of couldn’t stand her and was always eager to be away from her and their home…so I can’t say I’m surprised by this. But it’s sad.

    • TheArtistFormerlyKnownAsYoya

I didn’t get that from him, they seemed happy enough so I’m a bit surprised.

      • SLM

I get what you are saying, definitely, but for me, she seemed happy with HIM, but he always struck me as wishing he were somewhere else when he was with her. Like he was always scoping for the EXIT signs. I always thought, too, that she seemed playful with him and wanting to engage, but he’d give her perfunctory nods and shallow sentences, like he wasn’t really listening. He just appeared checked out and going through the motions. Just how it struck me.

  2. 80sChild

My expression is the same as Jules above!! I wonder if she caught him with the new nanny? Oh no, I really like Jules and seeing her cute family. I hope she’s back for season 2.

  3. Rach

Surprising but not surprising, if that makes sense. No doubt Bethenney is somewhere salivating and prepared to unleash on Jules where and how she went wrong in her marriage.

    • Minky

As Limebrain has already pointed out, Bethenny will find some way to blame Luanne and her wayward, squirting vag on everybody’s marriage troubles and relationship problems. She’d probably say something like: “Holy Ho Bag! You’re the reason why ALL men cheat on their wives!”

  4. I mean duh! lol It was pretty obvious he wasn’t into her…Thanks for the tea TT

  5. Bravocueen

I hate to see anyone’s heart being broken. I’m going on 30 years and I absolutely cannot imagine life without my partner in crime. On that note, he just received orders to deploy overseas AGAIN.
:( I sure wish the wars were as “over” as Obama says they are.

    • Minky

God bless you and your loved ones. I wish every war on planet earth was over, really over, forever. Until people stop dying from anything other than natural causes, we can’t say we’ve made any progress as a species at all.

    • MySharona

Thank you and your partner for your sacrifice and your service to your country! May God bless and keep both of you strong and safe,

  6. Wonder if Luann is involved in this?

    Just kidding!

  7. Lisa j

How sad! IDGI, really. Why do these shows if you’re having problems in your marriage? Put your life out there for the world to see, makes zero sense to me. Good thoughts to you Jules, sad news

    • Shae

I agree, but maybe she didn’t know there were problems. Maybe the only “problem” is that he’s a cheating scumbag lol

      • Matzah60

Yes, generally that is the only real problem. You nailed it. Every woman does this soul-searching hoping to find what SHE did to make him leave. If she caught him and he filed and left, he wanted to be outed. Cheating scumbag for sure!

  8. Bryn

This makes me sad. I know she hasn’t seemed to be that popular but I really liked having her on the show. She was actually the more “normal” one compares to all the quack jobs

    • norrmal? If bitching about having kids and suffering from an eating disorder is normal then I must be a freak lol. Maybe she got a bad edit but it seemed like all she did was chirp about her kids. Asking the nanny to blow dry her hair and pick out an outfit …really..? Plus, her voice is enough to drive me to cheat too. The only thing that’s sad is this might cause her to have a full relapse on her disorder :(. Not good….

      • Bryn

I put normal in quotes bc clearly anyone that goes on these shows are just plain off their rocker. But I mean normal as in she didnt engage in all the drama. She didn’t lose her shit like everyone else seemed to.

  9. Danny

Hopefully, her divorce settlement includes some of that “old money” she claims… & maybe that unfinished vacation home near the Hamptons

  10. 25

Only one from jersey, wow. Give it another year..

  11. Chiisaimiss

I can’t believe he filed for divorce after he cheated! What a dick move! Poor Jules!

  12. Sliceo'pie

Wow, that’s so sad. I know some people won’t be inclined to empathize with her because she’s well-off and will probably receive a nice settlement …but getting dumped sucks-especially with two small kids.

  13. JoJoFLL

Let’s try this. How many after at least two years have NOT divorced?

    NY=Aviva Drescher

    NJ=Kathy Wakili
    Teresa Guidice
    Melissa Gorga
    One twin
    Caroline Manzo

    Miami= Lea Black
    Lisa Hochstein

    OC= Heather Dubrow
    Alexis Bellino
    The Crazy One

    BH= LVP

    Who am I forgetting?

    • MzKRB

Not quite sure what you mean “after 2 years” but here are the ones I think of

NY – Also had Heather & her husband as still together. Also, even though he’s on Ashley Madison, Kristin and her husband are also together. Throwback Jill and Alex are also still married to their spouses.

ATL – Kandi & Todd, Kim & Kroy

RHOBH – Joyce & her hubby, Carlton

RHOC – Is it Liz?, and the one season girl

      • MzKRB

RHOC – Lori is also still married

      • MzKRB

        RHOBH – Rhinna & Eileen

      • JoJoFLL

I meant by being on the show at least two years.

Forgot about Alex and Simon! I LOVE them!

I don’t count Kim and Kroy because she didn’t marry him until after she left.

Joyce and Carlton where only one season right?

    • Miele

I thought Kroy pulled the husband card and insisted Kim leave the drama of RHOA for her safety and the good of their family…

      • MzKRB

Yeah, Kim & Kroy were married during her time on RHOA. I thought that did the special and came back and they left the series. They were pregnant with Kash.

    • tamaratattles

SERIOUSLY? You need a list of all the housewives I didn’t list for you for some reason? Next time I’ll just assign you the listmaking job. Oh and you should have it done in 15 minutes while writing 5 other posts. Then I’ll let you post it so someone could chirp up and say, OH So let’s figured out the OPPOSITE of the list relative to this post… Because you will enjoy that. No wait, that will be me. I will enjoy that.

      • MzKRB

What can we say, we like lists. LOL!! I think the original poster was trying to associate the length of time it takes for the demise post their appearance on the show. I misinterpreted it originally.. Also with the marry go round (pun intended) you forget who actually is even married in the first place. At least that was going through my head.

      • PrincessMimi

I wasn’t trying to prove anything just realized when I went through my mind just that the entire current cast, minus Carole, of RHONY has gone through a divorce. I love reading this website. I guess I thought the comments were just for commenting about the cast members. I didn’t think I breached any rules to get cursed at.

      • Stephanie

And you’ll get paid for it :) #boohoo

      • JoJoFLL

I was trying to remember who had actually stayed together.

  14. Calipatti

Sad, painful, hope Jules and her children find peace and harmony.

  15. K Slay

As I’m rewatching the previous episode I realize Jules said her nanny “quit”… Imagine that’s who she caught him with?!

  16. IMSpyCesq

Don’t you think you should distinguish between the one’s who were married while they were housewives and those who came onto the show as divorced women. One of the DC women was divorced and single coming onto the show.

  17. Auntie Velvet

I’m sorry for Jules. She seemed hyper-focused on her brand and storyline as a Housewife, which I imagine is a great strain on the household.

I guess Luanne’s marriage comes off as planned there will still be at least one wife next season.

  18. The Real Housewives of NY with zero wives.. Lol

  19. QueenB

I’m sure Jules is a sweetheart but she is not the brightest bulb in the box. It must be annoying for a husband to live with a woman who cant hold a conversation or make a good cup of coffee. Millions of women raise their children without the assistance of a nanny but she seemed completely over her head in the child-rearing department. What’s the saying? “Show me a beautiful woman and I’ll show you a man who is tired of sleeping with her.”

    • Matzah60

Guess what? Michael will also get tired of the next ‘beautiful’ woman he beds. That’s the nature of long-term relationships. That brand new feeling fades and even more so after children are born. Maybe she wasn’t as overwhelmed with the kids as she was with Michael’s absence in caring and raising the kids. His responsibilities don’t end after he gets her pregnant.

      • QueenB

I agree. He will probably do the same to the next woman. Clearly he’s no saint. But I find it hard to sympathize with a stay at home Mom who can only manage her household with the help of a couple of nannies.

    • Billie_bee

Yeah, but he picked her, he proposed. Men are such fucktards. If he wanted someone not annoying, he should have married someone not annoying.

  20. PrincessMimi

Dorinda is also divorced. Before she was widowed.

Ha! Its like Who’s on First.

      • Matzah60

I was tickled by this post, Tamara. I had no idea how many marriages dissolved on this Bravo franchise. I am in shock!

I was in Philadelphia for two days taking care of my granddaughter while my son and daughter in law were at work and they don’t let her watch TV. She watches some videos, but for the most part the TV is off. I was amazed to find FIVE new posts here this morning. I don’t know how you can write so many witty, intelligent, enjoyable posts in one night! Bravo to you!

I have to catch up now!!

      • jen

        Yes thank you.

  21. KaraW

Wow – I did not see this coming. Interesting that so many of you did. I’ll definitely pay more attention to the re-runs now. Looking at the list of other divorces, most of them you could see coming from a mile away. I didn’t expect Bethenny & Jason, but I missed the infamous boat trip and never manage to catch it in re-runs. I could see they were having issues, but didn’t expect it to get as bad as it did. Didn’t really see Ramona & Mario coming either because I think she was really in love with him, but they renewed their vows and that always seems to be a marriage-killer on reality TV. I miss Lisa Wu. I enjoyed her on RHOA

    • PrincessMimi

Lisa Wu’s ex is engaged to Rudy Huxtible from the Cosby show. That would be an interesting addition to RHOA!

    • Kimoe

I saw Ramona and Mario’s divorce coming the day they were sitting in an outdoor cafe and she was trying to say something important to him and he literally stared down a passing woman’s ass. Wasn’t subtle at all. After that noticed he didn’t care how often she got three sheets to the wind. Figured he was sneaking out when she passed out.

  22. peachteachr

    OMGosh, those poor children.
There was no structure in their home with both parents and 2 nannies. It seemed as if no one wanted them. Jules is slowly growing on me but what a troubled woman. Feel sorry for everyone but him.

    • Denise

If only she wasn’t so intimidated by and starstruck with Bethenny I would love for Heather to come back.

    • Matzah60

Same here, peaqhteachr. “Feel sorry for everyone but him.” There isn’t any structure in their house, but they are pretty religious Jews and this is often the case in an Orthodox home.

Michael and Jules are what’s referred to as modern orthodox Jews. I’m sure their children go to a Hebrew Day school. While it’s a private school, it’s also parochial and there is a laissez-faire attitude in these schools when a child arrives late or has missed many days of school. While there is English studies as in any other public school, the morning (1 1/2 to 2 hours) is devoted to learning prayers, Hebrew reading and writing, holiday observance). I am Jewish, but not Orthodox, and not very observant, but my maternal grandfather was Orthodox. There is a general diminished view of the importance of women in Orthodox Judaism. A woman is viewed as the caretaker of the children and stays home to care for her children. In traditional Orthodox Jewish homes (not Jules and Michael), there are often many children, sometimes as many as 12. They don’t believe in birth control. The reason evolved after the Holocaust when 6 million Jews died and Traditional Orthodox Jews want to procreate to the extreme to raise the number of dwindling Jews in the population.

  23. Sad news. I kind of liked the little we’ve seen of this husband and didn’t get the marriage on the rocks vibe at all. Wonder why he was the one who filed?

  24. cammierari

Wow this is a shocker for me! Jules and her hubby seemed perfect for one another as far as I was concerned. Who else could put up with their weirdness?? That deconstructed house, having to have a nanny when you’re rich and don’t have a job, the endless referrals to ethnicity, etc! They seemed to fit together like two peas in a pod! I guess he just couldn’t keep it in his pants and that’s sad. Maybe now Jules will bond with Ramona and bring less desperation to Ramona’s hunt for the “next guy.” Or maybe she will bond with Bethenny as a single, skinny girl. It might even be fun if she joined the Countess on her rolicking journey dating every single guy on the social register. One thing’s for sure-the Real Housewives have mostly proven to be fake and now they’re not even wives!

  25. Jen

I wonder if maybe he was trying to pull a Kelsey Grammer by making sure she had some income before leaving her. I got the impression that he just wanted her as a trophy wife, rather than actually wanting a relationship or to build a family together. She was always trying way harder than he was. Still, it’s always a shame when there are kids.

    • Matzah60

Yes, Jen. I believe that is quite true. However, I also believe he’s been having affairs for a long time. I don’t think this is his first, just a gut feeling on my part. She was definitely his trophy wife. I felt he was demeaning and took advantage of her vulnerability and low self-esteem.

I also believe that Jules continues to struggle from anorexia. Someone with anorexia is generally malnourished and has a mineral and vitamin deficiency which leads to hair loss. It can be patches of hair or lots of hair falling out. It happened to my friend’s daughter who was anorexic and also to the woman who used to cut my hair. She was anorexic and was also under a lot of stress. She had a fraternal twin brother who had died several years before I met her. She started losing patches of hair and started wearing extensions. Eventually, all of her hair fell out and one day the salon was closed and she hightailed out of town. I felt heartbroken for her as I do for Jules. It must be a constant daily struggle and one that rears its head at each meal.

      • tamaratattles

When Carole made her rude pot/kettle comment to Jules and she basically said “I don’t have an eating disorder, I still get my periods.” I found that telling. Then she showed Dorinda that her hair was falling out and made sure to point out that it was not due to poor nutrition.

Also, I have had the stress fall out of hair and it typically happens several months after the trauma and at least in my case it was all over my head.

  26. Matzah60

Oh Tamara, you’re right. I forgot about that nasty comment Carol made to Jules. I just finished reading what I believe was her blog for the last episode and she was quite nasty about Luann and also to the viewers of the show. It really was condescending.

I do remember she said that her hair wasn’t falling out because of poor nutrition. I really didn’t buy it at first, not because I find Jules a liar, but I think it’s hard for us, collectively, to admit to our own own problems/weaknesses or in my case, my OCD about random things that seems to rear its ugly head when I am very stressed.

I am sorry to hear how stress has affected you, but when you wrote about how it happened months after the trauma, it joggled a memory of that same thing happening to one of my sons while he was doing some work for his program in Africa. He was living and working in a makeshift village the group and his superiors created with the help of the locals in the community. He was very careful about what he ate and drink. It was in the summer and oppressively hot. He had a tough time adapting to the conditions. Anyway, long story short, he got very ill and was transported to a major hospital where they said he had a parasite from something he ate. Nothing like the so-called parasite Yo said she had in her stomach. I promise, he didn’t have ‘the lyme’ in the coconut.

So, my son is 6’4″ and 220, tall and though a big man, he is very muscular. He lost 40 pounds in one month. He got a bill when he arrived home for over $100,000 from the hospital alone (Univ. paid under student insurance coverage for most of the bill with the exception of $2,500) and called me hysterically telling me he was going bald, losing patches of hair every day. So, obviously, your story reminded me of that time, Tamara. He was 24 at the time and saw several doctors who just told him he was going bald. One doctor asked him about his activities during the prior three months. Bingo, the doctor said that stress, illness, and a big weight loss in a short period of time (Richard Simmons said he lost 100 pounds in several months and lost all his hair as a teenager, I believe) could cause some or most of his hair to fall out, but he believed that it would grow back in. It did, save a small patch on the top of his head that is thinning, but now at 33, it appears it is hereditary baldness.
