One of the only few new scenes on that abysmal Secrets Revealed episode was a date between Heather and Terry. Terry seemed to have forgotten the fake anniversary that Heather had informed him, of leaving him to joke and be silly rather than romantic, as the occasion, fake or not, seemed to call for. The scene became more odd when Heather presented Terry with a gift. It was so beautifully packaged. The exterior was so lovely and formal that Terry asked if the box itself was the gift. Considering that the gift was given between two people who are consumed with being pretty on the outside, it was quite the unintended metaphor of their life. What lied within the box continued to speak to the nature of their relationship. It was a photo album. Was is the traditional housewives gift of sexy photos meant to entice? A family album of how their family has grown since the days they met? Nope. It was photos of the old house. It was their first house in Orange County. Heather pointed out in the letter at the front of the album, that what lies within was not about personal relationships. It was about “securing their rightful place” in Orange County. It was emblematic of their social-climbing and financial status. It was a business portfolio. It was a reflection of their business partnership.
When the Dubrows graced Andy with their presence on Watch What Happens Live, they were mortified that they lost the poll question and that the viewers overwhelmingly sided with the Beadors. It was almost as if they thought they had brought the Beadors down! Terry continued to sing the praises of Tamra, calling her a “straight shooter.” Heather continued to blame editing for her treatment of Shannon. It wasn’t until the poll results in the final minute of the show that they realized that the majority of viewers had stopped being supportive of them. When the previous season ended, we still found Terry’s bad jokes endearing, we were angry that Heather had deprived him of onion rings. Terry was riding a wave of viewer support even when Heather’s was beginning to ebb. But on that WWHL show, filmed after the reunion, the waves crashed around them and the ride was over.
Terry is not handling it well. Most husbands of the Real Housewives of everywhere, realize that they are unpaid background players. But on occasion, a Terry Dubrow, a Peter Thomas, an Apollo Nida, or a Jim Marchese blusters onto our screens and truly believes they are relevant. It’s sad and funny all at once. Terry is still filled with that delusion. In a recent interview with RumorFix, he continued to pull for the wrong team. He told them, “They wouldn’t fire her because Tamra is real. Tamra is honest. She brings what is real in her mind and her heart.” Does he really believe that? Is he really that deluded that he can’t see Tamra for the shit stirrer that she is? He goes on to say, that housewives are replaced when they start “self-editing” and they stop “putting their real personalities out there.” Did he not watch Tamra on her episode of WWHL? Tamra admitted that she is a “troublemaker” because that is what the show wants. She admitted to playing a role causing Andy to correct her and tell her that he wants them to be themselves. Tamra could not even be a “straight shooter” about her unrecognizable face when she denied doing anything to it all. Terry can’t possibly believe that.
Finally, Terry dramatically QUITS the housewives during his Rumorfix interview for dramatic effect. Saying, “Hell no. No Way.” when asked if he will be back next season. Um Terry, you don’t work for Bravo. Your wife does, at least for now. You may decline an invitation to a free meal or cocktail party but you don’t quit them. And I am guaranteeing your mediawhore ass will continue to leap in front of the Bravo camera anytime you are given the opportunity.
Heather is equally bitter about her “bad edit” this season. On her Bravo (final?) blog she shares:
We have put ourselves on a show where our every move is scrutinized. We are not perfect people. No one is perfect. We all do and say things we regret. Most of us do not do it in front of an international audience. You are all entitled to your opinions. It’s what makes the show interesting, fun, and a “watercooler” conversation piece.
Regardless what you think about us, the show and/or what you believe truly happened this season — I feel blessed and grateful.
My “reality” is an incredible husband who loves me and respects me, four healthy, amazing kids, a career that’s been revived largely in part to the exposure of being on RHOC, and a group of friends that accepts my weaknesses and celebrates my strengths.
Truly, there is nothing more I could ever ask for. It’s very easy to judge and hate — but why? Does it make you feel better about your own life? Have you never done or said anything you regret? Can you imagine if it were captured for the world to see? I hope to keep growing and learning from my mistakes and my experiences. I hope you all do too. I hope you are all not judged too harshly and are forgiven when you are ready to make amends. Living in a space of hate and resentment is a bad place to exist. It’s much better to love, forgive, and move on. I feel that’s where I’ve come with all of the ladies at this point. Now we will see what the future holds. Thank you again for your support of our family and the show. . .
Oh Heather, you were paid more money than you have made in the past five years to appear on a reality show to have your life captured for all the world to see. You can’t blame us for having an opinion of your entitled behavior. Everyone gets a bad edit and this year was your turn. You clearly gave them plenty to work with. Vicki is still around because she has the emotional fortitude to power through her embarrassing seasons and move on. Perhaps it is because she is a business woman and has other things to focus on. Or perhaps she knows how to love, forgive and move on, and that is something you and Terry just have not mastered.
We’ll see what the future holds indeed.
