Sorry for the delay, gladiators! I’m sort of all over the place these days and focus is not my long suit at the moment. I am dying to talk to you about the return of Scandal though! It seems that everyone has a dirty little secret. If you haven’t read my friends chart, you can read that here.
Let’s start at the end with Andrew Nichols, the current choice for the vice presidential candidate. The gladiators and Olivia all came up with a pretty clean background on him, yet Olivia still has a gut feeling that he is a really bad choice. In the end we find out that his dirty little secret is, Mellie! Mellie is apparently the one who got away over a decade ago. Mellie is the reason for his superficial dating history with models and celebrities. Next week, Olivia finds out and confronts Mellie.
Speaking of Mellie, she really didn’t need another dirty little secret, did she? I mean one would think the whole rapey Father-in-Law secret would be enough for one person. Speaking of that, rumor has it that Mellie and Fitz’s children will be seen and heard from very soon. Will Fitz find out that his eldest son is really his half-brother?
While this episode did not have nearly enough Huck, we do find out some new information on Harrison. I actually had to do a little research on this one, because the Harrison drama keeps being teased and then forgotten about when other storylines take over. It appears that Harrison and Adnan Salif were busted for insider trading prior to Olivia saving him. Olivia got him off on a very light sentence but Salif had to serve serious time. Harrison has freaked out every time Salif is mentioned. Why, now that Salif is free, does Harrison feels the need to borrow a gun from Abby? Why would a gladiator not have his own gun? Why would Abby assume he doesn’t know how to use one? Why does Salif need major strings pulled by Cyrus Beene to get a visa to allow her back in the country? What does Salif have that Cyrus wants? Why does it take approximately ten seconds for Harrison to change courses from killing her to screwing her? I have no idea.
You know what else I have no idea about? Rowan and Fitz are trying to kill each other. And I have no idea who the good guy is. I want there to be a good guy. There is a good guy right? Both Rowan and Fitz have tons of dirty little secrets they keep from Olivia. For one, Olivia doesn’t know that Rowan and Leo Bergen are working together against Fitz.
Cyrus Beene seems to have too many battles going on at once. He is so busy putting out fires and covering up murders that he doesn’t realize he is sleeping with his biggest enemy. James knows Cyrus’s dirtiest little secrets and is hellbent on destroying his husband. James knows where the bodies are buried and has a bugging device in Cyrus’s office. Will James use what he knows to bring Cyrus to, um…. his knees, so to speak? Does James really have it in him to follow through with what he is plotting?
So far Cyrus, Mellie and Olivia are keeping a dirty little secret from Fitz. No one has bothered to share with him that his current vice president has killed her husband. Or that his Chief of Staff covered up the murder. Is that what makes him explode next week?
Next week, a dirty little secret threatens to bring down the Republic! But, which one is it?
