Let’s Take a Look At This Nasty Porsha Stewart Rumor

porsharrhoa

Three or four days ago, TMZ ran a particularly nasty story on Porsha Stewart. This was their headline in HUGE FONT “‘Housewives’ Star Porsha Stewart — Accused of Robbing Fans And Pocketing Thousands!” Nothing sat right with me about this story, so I decided to sit back and wait for more information. But none has been forthcoming.  The ONE AND ONLY SOURCE FOR THIS STORY IS TMZ.  Let’s talk about this story for a minute.  First of all, I just had to pester my tweeps for the Instagram above. It was posted by Porsha on November 21st with a tweet saying she was looking forward to seeing her fans in Orlando that night.

I am going to post TMZ’s entire post, which I normally would not do, because I am going to do a line by line rebuttal. My words from this point will be in purple.

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Porsha Stewart screwed over  her fans and essentially stole several thousand dollars, by showing up hours  late for a scheduled event … so claims the event organizer who was left in  tears.

First, let’s talk about Porsha “robbing her fans” as the blaring headline reads.  The reason I had to get someone to pull the instagram for me is that all of the other sites reporting this, that use the graphic are using the TMZ version.  That version has everything below her last name and the RHOA logo cut off.  This is important for several reason. First, IT WAS A FREE EVENT.  Her fans were not charged, the event planner was trading on Porsha’s name to get people to some hoodrat fashion show or something. Posha’s fans showed up. The event owner got what she paid for. Porsha’s fans turned out, not knowing that Porsha supposedly could not get there on time.

Who is telling TMZ the event planner was in tears? Was TMZ there? No, no they were not. This “event planner” seems shady to me. Why is an event planner crying? Why is an event planner calling TMZ? Why does this event planner not have a twitter account? I find the source totally incredible.

Tanika Olivier tells TMZ … she hired Stewart to  make a 4-hour appearance in Ocoee, Fl. Thursday night.  She wasn’t just an  hour late… or 2 hours … or 3 hours.  She showed up 20 minutes before  they folded up tent.

Please note the start time that was not on the TMZ version of the graphic. 10pm.  Am I really expected to believe that Porsha showed up at 1:40 a,m. to her event, on purpose?

According to Olivier … Stewart had a bunch of lame  excuses — her flight was delayed … the driver took her to the wrong hotel …  and they had to make a stop to change into fresh clothes

Again I call horseshit. Her driver should have been provided by the event planner and taken her straight to the event. If you are already hours late you go straight to the event, and freshen up on the drive from Orlando to Ocoee.

Stewart was  paid $2K up front — so claims Olivier — and she had the nerve to demand   the $2K balance.   Things got ugly and cops were called.

Is it me or is this “event planner” sounding like an incompetent mess? Crying? Calling the cops on her hired talent?  For one thing, that rate is way too high. I know that most of you think they get paid a gagillion dollars for this stuff. I got into it once with Don Juan, Kandi’s manager for asking why she flew to some Chinese restaurant for an event in bumblefuck somewhere. My point was that was beneath Kandi.  I don’t believe the rate of  a thousand dollars an hour. But that is all really beside the point. Porsha’s intent was clearly to attend. Something must have happened to delay her. She was in  Kandi’s play the next night. It was a tight timeline.  Shit happens.  The weather in the ATL  has been shit for weeks. She did the best she could.

Police told  the girls to settle it on their own and Olivier reluctantly cut Porsha a $2K  check…  but she tells us she’s decided to stop payment … and she wants  the initial 2K back STAT.

So wait, you wrote her a check at 2 am? You didn’t send it from the office and or have it on the ready while she was there? This is all way too much horseshit.  I get bitched at all the time for being mean to Porsha by calling her dumb. Because she really is dumber than a box of hair. But I think this current hatchet job is all kinds of wrong.  Why is everyone buying this bizarre story?

  1. It's A Crazy World

I questioned it because why would Porsha even schedule something like that when she was knee deep in rehearsals for Kandi’s play?…and on the 21st – the night before the play opens???

    • but she did, and that day, said she was looking forward to going.

    • guccinara

Err for the cash, no? I normally dont mind portia but have to say it was highly unproffessional of her to show up nearly 4 hours late for a 4 hr job and her excuse was lame. In her world it may be ok to agree to do a meet and greet, turn up at the end when everybody’s going home, because your dress doesnt fit quite right, and still expect a cheque for doing nothing. thats portias i’m entitled deluded attitude. portia must think she is mariah carey or something – time to get with the real world. as for the promotor getting upset its understandable, when you have somebody ruin all your hard effort (not to mention your coinage) unfortunately inflicting acts of violence on them is not allowed, so you probably just want to run off into a room and cry your eyes out. If this event was all about portia i think the promotor has the right to sue her to get back not just for the “appearance fee for no appearance” but the whole thing. Judge Judy would back me up on on this one.

      • I think Judge Judy would see that promoter is lying. I don’t believe anyone shows up at 1:40 am for a 10 PM appearance. Delta runs a flight pretty much ever hour during the business week to and from MCO. Porsha showed her intention and anticipation of attending on twitter that day. She boards a plane and make the 1.5 hour flight to Orlando with a half hour car ride.

Part of the event planners JOB is to send someone to pick Porsha up and get her to the location on time.

Even if you believe the even planner’s version of the story completely, Judy Judge would still have to determine what Happens when the talent for the event who is being paid an appearance fee (not ticket sales that have to be refunded) for a free event and a set of circumstances keep the talent from arriving on time, be it airport delays, driver getting lost or other events outside the talent control, does that nullify the contract?

I personally see a LOT of histrionics (and I am sort of an expert on the subject) in the “event planners” story and a lot of failures on the event planner’s part to get the talent to the event.

  2. Bizzymammabee

Seems very fishy to me. Maybe a certain queen is trying to throw mud at her for all of the side eyes at his sexuality.

    • Something is up. I know I get pissed once in awhile when TMZ steals a story without credit, but for the most part, I trust their info. To be fair, they never said they believed her, but the SCREAMING HEADLINE about Porsha stealing from her fans was super over the top. Slow news day? Has no celebrity ever tried and failed to get to an appearance? It’s just OVERLY harsh to me. And I wonder why….

  3. Sounds like the Event Planner is trying to get her own name out there in the public eye. She’s using Porsha’s name to create publicity for herself.

  4. Ocoee Florida? Really? Tamara there isn’t anything out there! It is at least an hour or more from Orlando. It is a national forest. I have driven through there lots of times in my former job of teaching at various hospitals and nursing homes. It is mainly ranches, farms and wilderness.

  5. The Disher

I agree this is shady. Robbed her fans? Ridiculous. Check out the event planner’s website when you have a chance. There’s yet another poster of the event on their that says the after party starts at 11:00 p.m. and there are different charges to get it. I’m confused reading the posters as to what time and where Porsha should have been just reading the damn posters.

  6. Katrina

If the fans paid, I doubt that she refunded any money to the fans. The advertising was done, using Porsha’s name. The promotor just wants something for nothing. If she has a real case, she will take it to coury. TMZ can’t get the promotor’s money back. Tamara is right, there is no charge indicated on the flyer. That promotor probably promised Porsha a set fee for showing up! Now, she feels like she doesn’t want to pay it.

  7. Nice rebuttal! I really love when you tear pieces of “work” like this from top to bottom. Good job, TT! :)

  8. Suedehead

First, I don’t have a dog in this fight: I’m not a Porsha hater nor a fan. Second, I think you do a great blog. Third, as with most things, the truth probably lies between the 2 extreme sides of the story. Lastly, my only source of info on this is your blog entry here (not TMZ),

All that said, I would like to mention the following:
*Just because an event is free, doesn’t mean that Porsha doesn’t have to show up at the agreed-upon time.
*If I went to a free event to see Porsha (or Elvis, Jay-Z, etc.) for 3 or 4 hours and I saw her for 20 mins., I would feel “robbed”.
*According to the link in the graphic that you posted, there were 2 events featuring Porsha. A free one on 11/21 and a ticketed one on 11/24. I Would suspect that the free one was expected to increase demand for the ticketed event. Therefore, if Porsha showed up for only 20 mins of the free event (not saying that she did or didn’t), I could understand how this could hurt sales of the ticketed event.
*The fact that Porsha’s fans showed up doesn’t mean that the promoter wasn’t harmed. To be known to “bait and switch” from the attendees’ perspective is certainly damaging to the promoter.
*Given the history of some of the ladies on RHOA I’m not sure why it is so unbelievable that one of them would show up 3+ hours late to an event in Ocoee FL.
*It’s odd to debate who “should have” provided the driver. These things are often contractual, with the transportation arrangements either part of the contract or not.

Ultimately, you could be 120% correct and TMZ just made up the story. Alternately, the promoter could’ve made up her side of the story when Porsha did everything exactly as she agreed to in order to keep from having to pay Porsha for an event that had low attendance.

I’m guessing that there is probably just a bit of shared blame.

    • first all “Sue” where the hell have you been all day when I wanted someone to argue And I don’t have a dog in fight either. I get bitched at for how as Wendy Williams has decided to say lately, “less than smart” Porsha is. But I am sort of on her side on this because I think she is too stupid to fly alone and someone from the event planner end should have been HANDLING her. :)

*Just because an event is free, doesn’t mean that Porsha doesn’t have to show up at the agreed-upon time.

I agree. Never said anything else. She committed ON THE DAY of publicly on twitter she was looking forward to her event. No argument here.

*If I went to a free event to see Porsha (or Elvis, Jay-Z, etc.) for 3 or 4 hours and I saw her for 20 mins., I would feel “robbed”.

No one would care how you felt. Legally, it doesn’t matter. Sometimes shit happens. Or as the law calls it frustration of contract which in real language means SHIT HAPPENS You were not robbed.

*According to the link in the graphic that you posted, there were 2 events featuring Porsha. A free one on 11/21 and a ticketed one on 11/24.

Um no. She has one date 11/21 on 11/24, I ain’t looking this up now, but I believe she was in a play in Atlanta on 11/24.

I Would suspect that the free one was expected to increase demand for the ticketed event. Therefore, if Porsha showed up for only 20 mins of the free event (not saying that she did or didn’t), I could understand how this could hurt sales of the ticketed event.

You seem to not know what you are talking about.

*The fact that Porsha’s fans showed up doesn’t mean that the promoter wasn’t harmed. To be known to “bait and switch” from the attendees’ perspective is certainly damaging to the promoter.

Really??? EVERYONE WHO LIKES PORSHA COME TO your GHETTO FASHION SHOW, You got what you wanted. They may not have but you were not damaged.

*Given the history of some of the ladies on RHOA I’m not sure why it is so unbelievable that one of them would show up 3+ hours late to an event in Ocoee FL.

So you are aware of the promptness of RHOA to events? And Porsha is to be judged by you? Chile please. You are the event planner aren’t you? I would never use this event planner for anything EVER! IT IS YOUR DAMN JOB TO GET THE TALENT TO THE LOCATION ON TIME!

*It’s odd to debate who “should have” provided the driver. These things are often contractual, with the transportation arrangements either part of the contract or not.

I KNOW YOU MUST BE KIDDING ME. Never in my life have I been to a job interview where I was not sent a car or greeted by a business rep. REALLY? You think PAYING 4k (which I still to not believe) which equates to a billing rate of !K an hour meant NOT sending a driver? That was the BIGGEST RED FLAG IN YOUR BULLSHIT STORY, I’ve never been asked to fly ANYWHERE for business where there was not a driver at the airport. And my rate is not !K an hour.If I were paying 4k to fly in someone who thinks there are 265 days in a year, I’d have a driver, a handler, and someone getting her there on time.

Ultimately, you could be 120% correct and TMZ just made up the story. Alternately, the promoter could’ve made up her side of the story when Porsha did everything exactly as she agreed to in order to keep from having to pay Porsha for an event that had low attendance.

I don’t think TMZ made iup the story. I think the EVENT planner did. I think there was an instance of Frustration of Contract, and you or whoever the fucking moron event planner was tried to smear the name of Porsha Stewart. I will say from a legal stance, you should not continue the defamation to other sites.

  9. Suedehead

    Couple things:
1)the site in the graphic that you provided says that she was supposed to be at a paid event in Orlando/Ocoee on 11/24…I have no other source than what you provided. The only source that I have for her having a play in Atlanta on the same day is your statement. From those 2 statements, it must be the case that the play in Atlanta was for earlier in the day or that she double-booked.

2)all I’m saying is that arrangements for “talent” are often contractual. We’ve all seen postings of what kind of cool aid JLo requires in her trailer and what types of cookies Madonna demands, etc. The same document should spell out what the talent is responsible for and what the promoter is responsible for. So my point was not a contradiction of what you were saying. I was merely stating that whoever was responsible for transportation should’ve been spelled out in the contract (along with other details). If these 2 parties chose to enter into an agreement without a contract, then they both deserve what they got.

  10. Becstar

If you’re scheduled to be somewhere you show up on time. If you’re getting paid to be there and you’re not worth more than the event itself (most housewives) then show up early, eat standard craft service and try not to trip over your own ego. These people are mind-numbing.

    • Katrina

I agree that people should be on time. However, bad weather happens, mechanical issues and airlines cancels or postpones flights. It’s a fact . It has nothing to do with what people think they are worth. African American people in general have a tendency to be late. I don’t think Porsha’s worth or position in life had anything to do with her lateness. Most promotors send a driver to ensure the person arrives safely and to the appropriate place and time.

  11. Whatever the event organizer said or told TMZ, their headline was off the charts misleading. I mean…you read it and truly thought she directly solicited money and misused it. That’s what ANYONE reading that headline would think. So you click the article and read it and say, oh. That’s it?? It’s national enquirer shit. I thought tmz was a little above all that. I guess not. But I guess “rhoa star observes cp time” would have been easy to gloss over.

Whoever implied that Kordell had something to do with it? Get a life for god’s sake.

  12. Gbell

    That’s a dick move TMZ.

  13. Just Shauna

I believe the promoter is FOS. They are known for that something like this just happened to Keyshia Cole. None of this matters now because the courts have what is called The Doctrine of Clean hands. The promoter may have gotten her case heard had she not given Porsha the check with the intention of not making good on it. The promoter wants us to believe she called the police but Porsha was not investigated for “theft of service.” Such as when you stiff a cab driver or dine and dash. Then the promoter committed 2 felonies 1. theft (over $500 makes it a felony) and 2. account fraud. Now not only is she going to owe Porsha the full amount but damages and any bank fees incurred from the bad check.

    • Special Kayy

As Suedehead stated, she was booked for both events, the Thursday pre-party and Fashion Show Sunday. Secondly, the promoter didn’t call the cops, Porsha did because she was trying to get the money that she didn’t earn. Regarding the play, Porsha signed the contract for this event BEFORE she knew about the play, which is why the event was changed from Saturday to Thursday to accommodate Porsha. Porsha did show up at 1:40am for an event that started at 10. When her plane landed at 9, the promoter told her to go straight to the event but she and her ghetto sister had to go to the room to “drop off their luggage”. Because Porsha didn’t get paid for an event she didn’t even bother to show up for until 20 minutes before it ended, she said she wasn’t coming back tot he Sunday event. The Sunday event was subsequently cancelled due to Porsha’s cancellation.
