Project Runway AllStars: Time to Sew Stiches and Cut Bitches!

pras3-promo-600x300It’s the season premiere of Project Runway AllStars. I suppose I will be for Michael Knight since he is a homeboy. I don’t remember if I like him or not. I think I do. I think it was Anthony from Atlanta that I wasn’t particularly fond of.  I don’t recognize a lot of the designers. I missed several seasons when the show moved off Bravo and on to Lifetime.

One designer was a man on their first show and is now a woman. Or a cross dresser. Hard to say. Either way she is a much prettier woman than she was a man. The bad thing about AllStars is there is no Tim Gunn. I actually like the judges better on AllStars though. I am not a big Zac Posen fan. Alyssa Milano is an interesting choice for hostess. Zanna Roberts Rassi from Marie Claire is playing the role of Tim Gunn this season. As if.

For the first challenge, the designers have to create a punk rock look in the basement of Mood without sewing machines or other equipment. Zanna’s mentoring is mostly a bunch of clichés. Don’t over think it. Don’t play it too safe. Edit. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz I am not feeling the transgender chick’s (Ari) style at all. Wait, they do have sewing machines. I thought they said they would not.  I also don’t see the blonde girl, Melissa being able to pull off a decent outfit. I like Victor’s punk look with the grommets. I’m worried about homeboy, he has gotten a lot of face time. Could be a bad sign.

Am I so out of the loop that I don’t know that punk is one of the hottest fashion trends of the year? Because I have not heard a word of this. I love Isaac Mizrahi. None of the looks were particularly “punk” in my opinion.  Michael was in the safe group. You could tell he thought he was going to win. I liked his look. Okay these judges are idiots. They like Jeffery’s faux fur jacket with ten tons of netting as a long skirt.

Ari, Melissa and VICTOR!!! were the bottom three. If they send Victor home I’ll be done with this show already. Alaina’s backward jacket won the day and Debbie Harry will be taking it home with her. Ari the transgender girl was the first sent home. :(  I wish they would have sent Melissa home. At least it wasn’t Victor.

So did you guys watch? Is this something you want more blogs about? Let me know in comments. Hmmm Million Dollar Shoppers that comes on after Project Runway looks good.

  1. I seem to recall Michael Knight appearing on Real Housewives of Atlanta a few years back. I think he was making a dress for Kim? He seemed nice enough (but of course, who knows what any of these people are like in real life, LOL).

  2. Katrina

Michael was trying to give Sheree some advice about the fashion business. He felt she was all talk!

  3. I only know punk is on trend right now because ShoeDazzle has been featuring ALOT of punk shoes.

    • Oh and I don’t watch but will read your posts about it :)

      • I really don’t think punk is on trend right now. Spikey shoes does not a trend make. But who am I to disagree with Project Runway?

And yes Michael Knight has designed for several of the RHOA. There was another black male designer from PR Anthony…Williams maybe and he was a dick.

FUCK am I really going to have to turn the heat on in October? #pinchingpennies

      • love2hatebravo

I just turned the heat on today. It was in the 20s this morning. So annoying.

I don’t see punk as on trend now, either. I don’t necessarily associate spiky shoes with punk. But what do I know, apparently

I think the winninf look would not have won without the model’s spiky mohawk hair.

I dont think Ari had the worst look but I think they got what they wanted in terms of sensationalism via his involvement and that felt dirty to me that he was cut first.

  4. #TeamChristopher Love him. Can’t believe that bitch Elena didn’t give her model credit for the idea of turning the jacket backwards. She would have gone home if it weren’t for that

  5. This is really the poor man’s version of Project Runway. I find it odd that some of the past winners are appearing, apparently they haven’t done well since winning the top prize. I never associated Alyssa Milano with fashion and she looks rather old for her age. But at least this is something to watch on a Thursday evening.

  6. Brillke

I absolutely love Project Runway and have never missed an episode. Ive watched all of the All-Stars and the dreadful accessory season too. I used to read every blog concerning PR, Blogging Project Runway being my favorite, and I spent a lot of time on the Bravotv.com PR message boards. Tamaratattles has become my one stop blog and I’d love for you to blog about the show.

I am happy to see most of the designers and Michael Knight is one of my all-time favorites. He’s very sweet and up until the final of his season, he dominated the show. His coffee filter dress was amazing!

Not happy to see Jeffrey back. Not to crazy about the Russian chick either. Her jacket looked like something McKids sold at JCPennys or Sears in the 90’s but Debbie Harry liked it so what do I know. Very sorry to see Ari go. I remember Tim going to visit her family in Hawaii and how close and supportive they all were. Ari will be fine and she looks amazing!

I like the idea of bringing 3 past winners back. I liked Seth and was glad he won his season. I’ve forgotten the both of the other 2 winners names but I remember not liking the Latino lady. She was a stuck-up bitch.

I love love love Issac Mizrahi! I’m so glad he’s back and the designer from Marchessa is really good too, I forgot her name as well.

Looks like I’m the only one really excited about the show so if you choose not to blog it, I guess I won’t pour too hard. :)

Oh, and for some reason, I don’t really remember Victor. He must have been on a season with some pretty strong personalities.

    • Bri… would you like to do the Project Runway blogs for TT? I am sorry I can’t pay you but I would love it if you would agree!

      • Brillke

Holy shit! I cannot believe what I’m reading. Me? Guest-blog? O.M.G.

I really would love to say yes but I know for a fact that my writing skills are as subpar as it get. If I’ve ever written a sentence with proper grammar and nothing misspelled, it was an accident, I assure you.

I am so beyond flattered and grateful that you offered me the opportunity to guest-blog but I really don’t want to hurt your sites reputation so I think it best I say no.

You’ve so made my day though, thanks!

      • Dlister

Brillke please reconsider. Worrying about grammar, etc. is irrelevant because blogs are informal, this isn’t the NY Times. What you have to offer is so much more important than a properly placed semi-colon. You have passion and instinct that comes from being a long-term fan of the show.

I already loved your post above, and I can see myself making a point to come to TT to read your post-episode recaps.

        So, please? Pretty please? :)

      • love2hatebravo

I agree with Dlister and TT, Bri. Loved your comment above and I hope you guest blog.

    • I totally remember Victor! how could you not! The mustache alone made me remember!

    • Gabriella

No, I like it and want Tamara to blog it as well!

  7. Popcorn and Vodka (@popcornandvodka)

I think Melissa was a pretty great designer on her season, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see her do well here.
Elena only won because of the backwards jacket and she didn’t even come up with that idea… I hope she’s out soon. I always loved that she’s a really hard worker, but I hate her attitude.
    I always liked Michael too.
Most everyone else is not impressive. Irina was just in the news for pulling out of her show at the last minute. I liked Jeffrey in his season, but I guess he wasn’t good enough to make it… so why would any of these former winners be good enough after a second chance??

    Alyssa Milano was terrible.

I’d love for PR to be a part of TT. I wasn’t prepared to see a post about it and I’m already three cocktails in this Friday night so I can’t give any better proper opinion!!

The Project Runway reunion aired the other night for the season that just ended… One contestant was bitching about production and it irritated Tim Gunn, and he replied BULLSHIT. Hearing Tim say bullshit on TV made me very happy. I enjoy Tim, he is just lovely.

    • Brillke

The reunion was so much better than I anticipated. From this day forward, if I’m having a bad day, I’m going to remember Tim Gunn calling bullshit and I know it will turn my frown upside down!

    • kinglady

I love Tim and was surprised by his Bullshit! I think it’s happening, not sure why he vehemetly denied. A hit dog will holler and his bullshit was him hollering in the loudest way…still love the show, love Tim and will continue to watch

  9. SaraK

I have been a faithful viewer of Project Runway since season one. It is simply amazing how the quality of the final collections have gone down hill since moving to Lifetime. Don’t believe me? Try finding ANYTHING that compares to Laura Bennett’s execution on those beaded gowns, the inventedness of Jay McCarol (sp) or the showmanship of Christian Seriano. The show was about HIGH fashion on Bravo. The judges pretend it still is on Lifetime yet we have things like the Belk fashion wall, Mary Kay for the makeup, and a prize of a capsul collection on QVC. Now, let me be VERY clear that I am not a fashion snob, I have gone to my share of Mary Kay parties, ADORE my Belk (Elite card thank you very much, free gift wrap, 30/60/90 plan no interest. Even wored there part time for a number of years) and enjoy a good QVC moment. BUT none of those are high fashion.

With all that said I will be watching, simply with lower expectations, commercial fashion that I could wear, versus high fashion that I 1) cannot afford and 2) have no place to go to wear it.

  10. RealitySux

I love Korto … not a fan of the all star shows … but I am a fan of Korto.

  11. I’m looking forward to this season of All Stars, I am more interested in it than I was the regular PR. I didn’t remember two of the previous winners. I did remember Jeffery and didn’t think he should have won. I was pulling for MKnight. This year it is Korto, I think she deserve a win. I was suprised to see her.

    • willlynn

I agree with you. Did they ever look into the fact that Jeffery’s clothes were too well mad efor them to have been created by him? I remember Laura And Mycheal were discussin it but don’t remember anything ever coming of it and of course he won.

This season of Allstars needs to go to Korto. She created some awesom items and was prazed for them but seldom won a challenge

      • He was able to prove with receipts that he made the majority of the items but some had to be removed because rules were broken. I still feel Michael should have won. They gave the excuse that he was to young and then Christian won the next year.

  12. Becky White

At one time Isaac Mizrahi was a real fashion designer – but he sold his soul to QVC and his fashions are hideous – yet he feels he can still judge others work.

His work is so old ladyish now – my mom is 75 and she is too young to wear them.

  13. bendy

I’m watching! I just have to wait until the weekend to watch my shows.

I loved Jeffery’s styles when he was on the first time. I didn’t care for his punk look. Michael was not one of my fav’s on his season. I felt like he was very over rated and uses way too much white fabric. I hated Irena (the female winner) her season. I think she made the pillow case dress every week.

I really liked the blond girl’s blue dress and white vest. And the winner should not have won. Shame on her for not telling them the model saved her ass.

I can’t believe you don’t like Anthony from last all-stars. He was hilarious and I loved him. I don’t remember him being an asshole, he just didn’t stay around long enough. He also had some of the funniest lines I’ve ever heard on PR. After Tim Gunn uses words like visceral and contrivances, “I thought I needed design books to prepare for this show. I’m gonna get a dictionary as soon as I get back to Georgia!”

    • BENDY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I Miss you! Aren’t you at rumpspringa?

      • bendy

I haven’t been online much. I decided I wanted to run a half marathon for my birthday…and I haven’t been running for about 5 years so it has been really time consuming. Plus there is that whole work fall festival time and all.

        I’ll stop by asap!

    • love2hatebravo

I actually think under normal circumstances, Jeffrey’s look would have won, but it would have been unflattering on Debbie Harry, and Jeffrey failed to consider her figure and age, or maybe just didn’t think about it. Elena did not deserve to win at all, but she is one of the only ones who made an appropriate look for Debbie Harry to wear.

  14. eg

I haven’t watched PR in a very long time…..I liked Michael Kors as a judge, is he no longer there? I liked Tim Gunn also, he always seemed to be genuinely honest in his critiques of the designers. Oh well.

    • Project Runway Allstars has different everything. The real Project Runway just ended.

Allstars is always rumored to have a preordained winner because they didn’t win the first time. This season I am reading that person is Christopher. Which one is he?

      • love2hatebravo

I was sick aboutAlexandria von Bromssen not winning regular PR. Dom is good, but I wouldn’t have worn a single thing she made, and I physically want EVERYTHING (except the phone book gown) from Alexandria. I believe Alexandria lost because she is a social moron/ borderline social disorder, needed to wash her hair and take better care of herself to be a more marketable pr winner, so tge judges just didn’t like her. I definitely would read a Million Dollar Shopper blog. Those people work really hard and get paid practically nothing on small sales! That was shocking to learn.

      • OMG I HATE Alexandria with a purple passion. She did not deserve to show at fashion week I thought Justin had the best look of of the three battling finalist. I thought Helen deserved to show.

      • love2hatebravo

I can understand that. She is extremely unlikeable. But I found myself agreeing with much of her mean talking head interview critiques. And I liked her looks best, even if theyd prpbably look terrible on my body.

      • kinglady

I wasn’t a fan of Alexandria’s either her colorless asthetic is not my thing. I loved Justins art of this collection, but I don’t think he was the best. I really was glad Helen was out, she was so over praised for column dresses and stuff that just wasn’t that good, and her crazy girl, was just too crazy… Finally PR got it right, a designer with minimal drama won, thankful that it was Dom, I though she was awesome

      • Mrs Meems

Finally got me out of lurkdom with this comment! I too loved Alexandria’s clothes, in fact I loved them so much I just recently went to her store and bought some of her stuff.

She’s definitely a little on the socially awkward side, but not at all like she came off in PR. Also, she had shingles and was on prednisone for the entire show and I think that may have had something to do with how she appeared personality wise.

  15. Daphne

I too would love a good blog on Project Runway and what better place than here?!?!?! I have been a PR fan for years and remember each and every one of the returning “all stars”. I wish Joanna Coles, however, was the “Tim Gunn” for this season, as she was for the season before. I’m not sure how to feel about Alyssa Milano yet … this will have been the 3rd host for the all stars show

  16. kinglady

I love Project Runway, and would love to read you blog about it.
Michael Knight was a sweet doll when he was on his season…I hope too much TV hasn’t affected that negatively. I love Korto her designs are very different..I actually like the majority of the players here, except Elena (i think that’s the girl that won?) and I din’t like the other dark haried girl that was the winner of her season…I’m excited for this season

  17. Lol about Sheree breaking into the fashion business ~ apparently she believed all she had to do was order sample pieces of her “designs” through mail order and she’d be taking off on a fab career…Michael tried to educate her but she doesn’t like to listen.

  18. JoJo

I am soooooooo far behind on all the posts for the last week. But I did see this premiere of All Stars PR & didn’t see the post! I forgot on Monday that I actually saw it though. Is it on Thursday?
Anyway, I remembered most of them, especially Michael Knight and Jeffery Sebelius (who oh so put the A in arrogant, but I couldn’t dismiss that he was pretty darn talented). I also remember Salvidor Dali Victor and his mustache.
Someone mentioned maybe only these past finalists and winners are on again because they’re not really doing all that well and I agree. Agree that Christian Siriano and the other 2 mentioned above obviously too busy and successful probably to participate again. Probably same with Laura Bennett , who I thought was ultra-talented and amazed me with her collection.
But I’m going to watch since it’s Thursday (I think). I, too, am having a hard time without Tim Gunn on board; the other judge’s not so bad, but that Alyssa Milano has miles to go to impress me. Not impressed with her hosting abilities and never remember he being a fashion icon.
Reminds me, though, would Lifetime PLEASE PLEASE ask Kanye West to do a future “All Stars” or even regular PR, or give him a promo as a judge for a season, so he can put to rest his dribble and complaining of classism and racism and not being able to get backing for those damn black leather jogging pants. He was at his bitching again yesterday while on Ryan Seacrest. While promoting his personal “girl” Kim K, he actually compared her and her big-bottomed selfie on instragam to Michelle Obama! He can call it Kanye’s Kollection – and other Krap! Delusional POS;)
