Okay, it’s just day three buy it feels like day 9,492 to me. If you missed yesterday, it was a tedious day in the courtroom for trial watchers. Martinez made some good points here and there but was often dragged off the major points by Arias and her absolute refusal to give straight answers. Jodi would ask what words like ‘fault’ and ‘independent’ mean. She would claim not to remember, or answer with “I think” rather than giving a definitive answer to the question. She even corrected Martinez on points of law by saying things like “that sounds like a compound question” even before her attorney could object. She claimed on the stand that Martinez was scrambling her brain with his posture and tone and aggressive questioning. And then, after lunch court was abruptly adjourned for the day because Arias has not been receiving lunches from the jail and she claimed she had a migraine and was unable to continue.
For the love of GAWD if the defendant even bothers to show up today, can Martinez please stick to evidence of premeditation and drive home to the jury that this chick stabbed someone 29 times, slit his neck from ear to ear cutting nearly through to the spine and shot him in the face? Perhaps point out that self-defense never includes multiple weapons? And most of all break this bitch down on the stand? Please?

Arias is trying very hard to control the situation. 100% sociopath. The problem for her is that she cannot control the situation, and that is where Martinez can bring out the real Jodi Arias. Don’t focus on following all her lies and focus on the known facts. Bring an expert on sociopaths to testify and help jurors understand Arias.
Couldn’t have said it better myself….watched highlights last night/recaps – was painful to watch this – she really is a bitch! I wonder how sparing with Prosecutor like that helps her defense? while some have said she’s taking control or making Prosecutor lose control – what I see is a very manipulative woman who won’t back down which fits the M.O. that Prosecutor has been portraying of her – controlling, manipulative – NO BATTERED WOMAN!! Martinez really does need to get down to premeditation/day of murder today – no more back and forth about boyfriends from 10 years ago…
I was not able to watch most of the testimony yesterday, so I googled Jodi Arias trial to find a good recap. In doing so, I found a link to this website…[link removed by administrator]. I clicked on it to see what is was about. Needless to say, I was shocked by the content of that blog. They go so far as to say the world is a better place without Travis Alexander and that he was a pedophile loser. It was very disconcerting to see all the supporters of this. It is not so much the support for her that is shocking, it is the attacks on Travis. These people must have a screw loose. Apparently they had a similar website for Casey Anthony too. Thought y’all might be interested in knowing there is apparently a seemingly large group of supporters for her. It was quite sickening to see and read!!
and to my fellow commentators…while watching trial live may be slow and/or annoying, I can’t watch it since at work – I have to rely on your posts and then watch the recaps at night on JVM and Nancy Grace – some of those nutcase “experts” on those shows drive me insane…..would rather watch trial live and NOT watch Jeannie Weintraub (nutcase) or some of the “expert” psycologists who still insist she is a classic battered woman syndrome…yeeek….

think the jury has probably heard enough about masturbating, BJs, kinky sex….and think Martinez has established that Jodi liked all of it/was consensual/initiated a lot of it. Wondering about this though – with all the back & forth yesterday with Martinez and Arias where she wouldn’t answer a question directly but kept talking around it…where is the judge who presides over this trial? Would it not be her responsibility at times to ask defendent to “ANSWER THE QUESTION, YES OR NO”!!! Unless I miss some of this at night on recaps – I don’t see judge stepping in EVER….what’s deal with that?
The speed of this trial is driving me crazy. We know she is a liar, we know she enjoyed the sex, & we know she acted like a stalker more than once, he has proven all of that. I wish he’d move on!
i dont even know where they are going with all this sexual stuff. all he is doing is giving her a chance to act like she was sooo demure and unsure about whether or not she should have been doing it, and borderline acting like a rape victim. i agree, lets get to the part where she stabbed him 27 times. this prosecutor sucks, he seems unsure of himself and hes totally letting her jerk him around.
sure hope Martinez pulls a home run whenever last day of cross is…..starting to wonder now about his strategy – if viewers watching trial are getting frustrated, can you imagine how those jurors feel being stuck in their seats for how many hours/days of this?
I respectfully disagree. Nurmi spent 8 days or so giving her a platform to act all innocent and abused and afraid. This guy is using time and strategy to tear all that completely apart. She is helping to ruin herself with her responses. And the more she does that through his skillful questioning, the more the jury will remember and see her for the liar she is: she was sexually obsessed and possessive and there was no abuse, so there was no self defense.

Thank you, Susan! And you too have great points. See, I believe Martinez needs to spend almost as much time on cross to systematically destroy the linear defense of Nurmi’s questioning. Martinez is using proof to show her lies on the stand via Nurmi, and he is relentlessly not letting her get away with vague, ambiguous responses. I love the way he says, “Did I ask you about…?” every single time she tries to add to a yes or no response to try to justify herself. This is key, too, as this strategy exists to showcase her personality, the same personality that obsessively decided that no other woman ever have Travis.

oh she claimed she didn’t bother to check the license plate she ‘randomly’ noticed and picked up with the back license plate because she was in a hurry to get into her car and lock the doors. fearing for her safety was her excuse not to check the plate out before chucking it onto her passenger floor board. if that’s too much detail i apologize! i think this trial may’ve affected my ability to be brief :/

We have been talking about this liscense plate for half an hour. It’s a constant tug-o-war to get an answer out of here. oh pranksters that turned her rear plate upside down, were completely coincidentally DIFFERENT pranksters. apparently she was pranked in the nefarious starbucks parking lot in CA for the front plate, and then, wouldn’t ya know, pranked again, in either AZ or UT (depending on who she told) with the BACK plate. i’m exhausted.
did anyone notice that the gas receipt for cash, that she NOW claims was the gas she put into the car’s gas-tank, had read 2 @ 4.49 or so? the 2 @ would, to me, indicate two separate items, e.g. gas for the two gas cans- not one fluid purchase of a single tank filling. am i reading too much into that?

Today in the past couple hours I think Martinex started Tay a good foundation for premeditation. Pointed out she refused the Red rental car..as it attracks more attention from cops, she bought gas for tank with credit cards while she filled gas cans and paid with cash. Makes it seem as though she was planning on driving ou5 of Arizona without needing o stop at any stations, leaving no evidence of her being there after the murder. Or before. She told no one she was going to ‘Mesa.
The point that a robbery happened at her grandparents two weeks before the murder.
A25 caliber handgun was taken, the same caliber that was,used to shoot Travis. Of course gun was never found.
I really think JM made headway this afternoon regarding premeditation.

Haven’t had a chance to keep up with this trial too much, but did catch NG and JVM and Dr.D last night. Can’t stand NG, JVM acts like a luna tic herself… Dr.D’s show is ok. Getting most of my info about the case from here, but in looking at this Jodi person, she looks like creepy smiling evil to me. Her eyes look “dead” even when she is smiling, and she does (from the little bit that I saw) seem to try and manipulate the conversation flow, like she is a habitual (or pathological) liar who’s used to people believing what she says. Comes off as very smug. I hope she doesn’t walk.
yup. just like the walmart receipt that was shown in evidence, where she bought an additional (to the other two she borrowed) gas can. she claims that after she bought the third gas can, she decided to return it to walmart (yeah. right.) but that rotten ole walmart was beezin’ mean to her too, and didn’t give her any documentation regarding her returned gas can….i can’t.
