Jodi Arias was actually crying real tears in the courtroom today before the trial even got underway. There were all the usual delays this morning as Jodi and the attorneys and the judge met behind closed doors. Then the DA came out and spoke to the Alexander family once quietly in open court and then later in a private room. It was supposedly overheard that the open court conversation included an admonition to have no facial expressions at all during the phone sex tape recording evidence. No one knows yet what was said in the second closed door meeting yet.
Meanwhile, Jodi Arias comes out and stands with the rest of the courtroom for the jury to enter. Instead of striking her usual angelic opera singer pose complete with clasped hands and meeting the eyes of each juror, she stood arms crossed, eyes focused and clearly showing signs of continued crying prior to coming into the courtroom. She continued to be emotional as the judge unexpectedly excused the jury for lunch before hearing any testimony today. Apparently Jodi needs a time-out.
Who the fuck cares about her emotional state ? I wonder what Travis’ emotions were when he was stabbed 30 times, almost decapitated and shot.
I was just shocked to see actual emotion. I wonder if this jury is buying any of this. She is using every trick on the book while on the stand, looking them in the eye, talking in a conversational tone….
i think she was so emotional because it was brought to her attention that she has already been inconsistent with her sworn testimony on the stand. if i noticed it, you bet the prosecutor, her own attorneys, AND the jury has also. she has talked herself into her own noose. i can’t wait for cross examination!!
You mean the finger testimony, Maddox? I don’t see how that would have been brought up today. The pretrial meeting was supposed to be about the phone sex recording. I’m assuming something didn’t go her way in there. The important part is she finally seems to be unraveling….and the prosecution hasn’t even taken their first whack at her.
i agree that something didn’t go her way this morning, but it wasn’t just the finger testimony that has been inconsistent– all the dates, the interstate vag sex while driving, etc.- her account with the honey chicken, the ‘fight’ about her backpack, there have been innumerable inconsistent statements from her on the stand, i thought, but i could be mistaken, it seemed to me like there were plenty! not to mention that her various and elaborate accounts test credulity, to say the least. i could go on and on (like jodi…) but i won’t bug you with it. i’m grateful that you’ve put this trial on your site, as i’m super interested in it!
I agree that she probably lost an evidentiary ruling — my guess is that she won’t be able to testify about Travis’ alleged fascination with young boys (which I do not believe for a second; I think Jodi has had four years sitting her ass in jail thinking up this very elaborate story to “murder” Travis’ reputation and ultimately do him and his family harm). All I have to do is look at her smiling, smug mugshot (akin to “see, I got him good” smirk) to know that every word on that stand about “abuse”, “self-defense” etc. is fabricated. Even that phone sex call, she was the one who brought up marriage, but I did not hear how Travis responded, if at all. I believe that she finally pressed him that fateful day to finally, finally tell her whether he would ever, ever marry her, and he admitted that, no, he never would. That is what caused the rage. She covered well when he first told her; he went into the shower; her psychotic narcissistic rage took over (“how dare he think I’m not good enough to marry, I’ll show that SOB…”) and the rest is bloody history.
Uh, not that I’ve ever felt that way myself….

She was talking as if they were still b/g and they were not. They had broken up by the time she recorded this. She was used. But, she let herself be used in order to get someone who didn’t want her.
Then too, was she abused or used? She said in the tape, he worshipped her; Made her feel beautiful and special. She was a willing participant in all their escapades.
I guess she never heard of the cow and milk analogy. Again, why was this recorded? Was she planning on doing something to that young man?

This girl is lying. You don’t try and please someone you’re no longer with. You sure as in hell don’t after they’ve actually ABUSED and USED you. This, again, is her inconsistancy and lying coming out. If she was really abused, why go back? You’re not even with him any longer? Lying.
Depends on the self-esteem and mental state of the woman involved. I do know someone who has a history of involving herself in physical, emotional, and sexually abusive relationships- and she will do these push-pull thing with these creeps over the course of YEARS. I suspect it’s connected to her having been sexually assaulted by a stranger as a 7 year old, as well as one parent in the home who was secretly a crack addict (while the other lived as upstanding citizen) and having the burden of learning coping skills for handling/hiding addiction since she was a small child.. and of course, never really recovering from those formative experiences. From the outside she is an intelligent, funny, extraordinarily beautiful woman with compassion, heart, book smarts, and street smarts…but she self-sabotages with her choices in partners, and has never known what it’s like to choose or involve herself in a healthy, functioning relationship where some form of abuse is not involved. I have no idea how common an occurrence this is in women’s lives, but tragically, it does happen (even if rarely).
I have been watching the trial and have not made a decision about the WHY she killed him yet.
What i have made a conclusion about is that she is a creepy person and so was he.
I think she has serious problems, probably stemming from being abused as a child.I think she also just wanted to be loved and picked the wrong person. Travis was not a nice person, he lied and lead a fake life. He was cruel to her and used her. The killing was pure rage and it takes two. He would use her for sex, then tell her she was a scank. Sure she was obsessed, maybe it was your classic if i cant have him nobody can……..but if Travis’ Mormon friends are a reflection of him….then they
hold disgusting and degrading views about women. Basically, it was a hook up between a troubled woman and a really creepy guy and i think he should of kept his

The one thing that bothered me the most about that entire tape is that his motivation for the call was phone sex, yet when Spiderman came up in the conversation-there was no mention of underwear. That spoke volumes to me. There never were underwear or kiddie pics.

When the trial started late and it switched from TruTV to HLN I went to watch it on the feed from the courtroom. I knew how much they cut and bleeped the day before and I want to hear the whole thing, with my own ears. Unfortunately, they cut too much,take too many commercial breaks, and fill in their interpretation of what was said. That audio hurt her case more than helped. I got the impression she was making the tape for herself. With 80% being prattle/chatter and she spoke way more than he did. She was 100% willing and in charge JMHO.

travis stated more than once that he hated spiderman, giving jodi (whom professed to love spiderman during this convo…) ample opportunity to discus that facet of their ‘fantasies’, nothing was mentioned.
Call me sheltered but I didn’t know what a “tossed salad” was either. I will, never, never, never, ever eat a tossed salad with creamy dressing again. And cream pie might be right behind ( no pun intended ).
My guess is the phone sex tape that only she had a copy of was made to be used to either blackmail Travis to expose his non-Mormon sexual behavior to friends or colleagues, or to send to his current girlfriend exposing his and her sexual complicity thereby ruining that new relationship and that trip to Cancun. Sex was the only way she could control and keep Travis.
I also read in “Mormonism Exposed” written in 1933 by Vernon J. Danielson that might shed some light on her deciding to execute him:
“Blood atonement is another principle of Mormon theology of which the world has little knowledge. They maintain there is no remission of any sin except by the shedding of blood….Therefore if a man apostatizes from the faith they believe it is better to shed his blood than for him to lose his soul.”
Could Jodi have been crazy enough to think she was saving his soul? If he wouldn’t stay with her in their sinful state (their secret) she would have no choice but to murder him in order to save him? I see that smile like she knows something she’s not saying and it creeps me out.
