Is The Rosie Show Getting Ready to Throw in The Towel?

Something is going on with Rosie O’ Donnell and The Rosie Show on OWN.  Shortly after Rosie was on Watch What Happens Live, which was sort of unexpected but a good episode,  she completely revamped her talk show on OWN to be more like WWHL. She totally scraped the studio audience, got rid of all the game shows and hoop-de-la and changed the format to an intimate one on one interview with only one or two guests. It was actually pretty good. Ratings are not so good. Now, she has sold her 6000 sq ft Chicago home for 2.5 million dollars and is living in a corporate apartment. Despite her publicist saying that she has no plans to leave The Rosie Show or Chicago, it sure is starting to look like she is getting prepared for a quick exit. Have any of you seen the show?

Update: Chicago source Chitown Shelley confirms that The Rosie Show is shutting down. :(

here is the scoop from chicago; i have a close friend who works for the show, but behind the scenes. they were all told their services would no longer be needed after may, so they have already begun job hunting. even if show continues, it will not be originating in chicago. everyone seems to like new format better, but it seems to be too little, too late.

  1. I actually like the revamped show so much better, but since I like many avoided the old show, it was only by chance that I stumbled on this new format. I think it is difficult to get new viewers to give it a chance. The ads for it were annoying. They try to make it hip but it is actually a throwback format to TomSnyder. Not so much the WWHL analogy as there are no games. It may be good enough to get viewers if they give it time, but there are too many people on payroll for that kind of production. I agree that real estate sale suggests cancelation.

  3. Thanks for the tea, shelley!

  4. OWN is still TRYING and mistakes are bound to come, but I believe from the conception to where the Rosie show is now was a BIG MISTAKE. OWN is geared toward the female viewer and not so much to the AA female viewer. To be successful I think you must be able to appeal to all demographics, men included. I sent them an email about this but it never made posting, OWN only publishes postive posting, but I'm sure they read what I said, cuz sure as day that Rosie show was gonna be an EPIC FAIL. Women would much rather see Dr. Iyanla Vanzant over Rosie and her foolery. I'm just saying.
