I tuned into SNL last night for the first time in I don’t know how long to see how Lindsay Lohan would fair in her first acting slot since her tragic spiral into drugs and alcohol. Maybe I have finally gotten too old for SNL. It seemed to be so good when I was a kid who would stay up late to watch it against my parents wishes. Or it jumped the shark over a decade ago when I stopped caring that I would miss it by going out. Nevertheless, I gave it my best shot and despite not recognizing many people in the cast I hoped to be entertained.

You would think that with a week to learn lines, and as pumped up for the show as Lindsay was she would have known her stuff at least as well, if not better than the rest of the cast. Sadly, that was not the case. The opening monologue reminded me of the Disney movie, Cinderella when the mice and the birds scramble around trying to finish making Cinderella’s dress for the ball. It was like nothing was ready and we were watching Kenan Thompson, Kristen Wiig and Jimmy Fallon flit around her like Cinderella’s birds trying to make last minute adjustments. This made it all the more odd when the Real Housewives of Disney bit came on just afterwards. The RHOD skit was the best segment on the show with the SNL ladies doing a great job and Lindsay having the benefit of unlimited reshooting.  The rest of the segments, or at least the ones I saw before nodding off, consisted of Lindsay stammering through her lines despite reading every word off cue cards. How is it possible that she managed not to memorize anything?  Hasn’t she spent the last few years doing lines? Did any of y’all watch this sad attempt at a comeback? Was it just me or was it pretty awful?
